Western Athletic Club - tennis for everyone!
Western offers a variety of tennis opportunities for all ages and skill levels. Players can play singles or doubles in our round robins, seasonal court times or leagues. Instructional clinics, taught by our professional staff, are offered to help you achieve your tennis goals!
Seasonal Court Time (SCT) and Round Robins (RR)
SCT
Put together your own group of friends and sign up for a scheduled weekly game of tennis.
RR
Western organizes a variety of singles and doubles in-house round robins at different levels. To set up a seasonal court time or participate in a round robin, please contact Donna Holloway at dholloway@westerntfc.com.
Round Robin Guidelines
Players must approve their round robin schedule before the first night of each session. Players are financially and physically responsible for all dates scheduled as of the first start date of the session. A sub list, as well as a list of players scheduled off each play date, will be provided. Players are responsible for finding their own sub. All subs must be communicated to Western in a timely manner so Western and the players who are playing know who to expect. Once the schedule has been made and the first date of play has happened, Western Athletic Club will NOT be responsible for finding subs. If a player is unable to find a replacement player for a particular play date, the original scheduled group of four players will maintain their time (1.5 hours) for a future date of play, agreed upon by all four participants. No refunds will be given. Any make up date must be played within the time frame of the session. If the court must be cancelled, please contact Western as soon as possible so that court can be made available for others to reserve.
Leagues
Interclub League Tennis
Western Athletic Club is part of Greater Cincinnati Indoor Tennis Association (GCITA) where over 2000 players compete on teams in singles and doubles at all levels. Junior Walk-On Policy
Junior Tennis Walk-On privilege is offered to junior tennis players who are members of Western Athletic Club and who also are currently enrolled in a junior clinic (all fees paid). Walk-on privilege is also offered to UC Club players in good standing. Walk-On court time is a privilege and is offered to Western junior and UC players so they can practice their tennis skills to ready themselves for competition. Please make sure all balls and trash are picked up before leaving the court. Thank you. Junior Walk-On is defined as the following:
Non-reserved play—players cannot reserve a court. If a court is available, players may play on that court without being charged a fee.
Players can walk-on with another junior (who also has Walk-On privileges) or family member(s) of the player and pay no court fees.
If a player walks-on with a member or non-member (who does not have Walk-on privileges), court rates apply for that member or non-member and they (member or nonmember) must pay their portion of the court fee.
If a court is reserved, all court fees must be paid in accordance with the court rate.
Players may be bumped from a Walk-On court if a member wants to reserve that court.

What Is Cupping?
Cupping is a type of vacuum therapy, where a cup is applied to a specific area based on the treatment chosen, and is pumped up to cause stretch in the tissue. This pulling of the tissue causes several different effects including stimulating blood flow, inflammation, immune response, and stimulation of the nervous system. Cupping does leave marks and bruises, how long these take to go away depends on the tissue response to cupping, and how long the cups are left on.

What is Dry needling?
Dry needling involves inserting a tiny monofilament needle into symptomatic tissue with intent to reduce pain, increase circulation, and improve function of the neuro-musculoskeletal system. Dry needling is not acupuncture, because it is based more on neurology, physiology, and western medical principles.

What is Titleist Performance Institute (TPI)? How does screening work?
TPI Started in 2003 to aid in enhancing golf industry professionals. Founded under the belief that golfers will benefit the most from efficient and healthy body, and aim to help educate players of all levels on the importance of the body and how it relates to the golf swing. This begins with movement screening, and watching specific body movements to observe for any deficits in mobility, strength, control, that may be affecting athletic performance. From this screening can come exercise and mobility recommendations to improve movement capabilities.
