Cast
Derek Smith
From the tangled web of Chicago comedy, middle-of-the country comedy clubs and dive bars emerges Derek Smith. Derek was a different kind of little kid. While everyone else was playing Power Rangers in the street, he was in his room letting Bill Cosby LPs flow into his ear to stew is in brain. In the comedy world he stands as a different kind of animal: one to be dissected, studied and thoroughly enjoyed. Derek Smith is a cast member at The Lincoln Lodge.
Ricky Gonzalez
Ricky Gonzalez was raised in Evanston, IL. After his college and semi-pro baseball career, Ricky turned his focus on stand-up comedy. In 2013, Ricky performed in TBS Just For Laughs Festival in Chicago, IL and also The Traverse City Winter Comedy Arts Festival. Ricky recently made his national television debut by being featured in an episode of “How The States Got Their Shapes” on the History channel. Ricky is also a writer for the very popular web series, “Creative Has Nothing For You”, starring Colt Cabana & Marty DeRosa.
Trey Brown
Listen the perfect breakfast burritos are a hard thing to come by. But Trey Brown knows all about that. He’s been making his own since he was 12. It’s important to use a spicy breakfast sausage and to prepare your potatoes in a separate skillet. This way they can carmelize with the onions a little longer. You should microwave your tortillas for about :25 with damp (not wet) paper towels separating the individual tort’s. Dependent upon how many veggies you added should dictate your salsa’s overall viscosity.
Bill Cruz
Considered Chicago’s premier queer comedian, Bill Cruz has become a pillar of the Chicago Stand-Up Comedy scene delighting crowds over the last 8 years. Bill, a native of Denver (and flaming Broncos Fan) performs regularly at shows throughout the city for a wide variety of diverse crowds. Bill has also performed all across the Midwest, New York, Los Angeles, appearing in OUTLAUGH: The Gay and Lesbian Comedy Festival, the Cleveland Comedy Festival, and most recently The Just for Laughs Chicago Comedy Festival.
Kyle Scanlan
Kyle Scanlan is a Chicago-based comedian who started doing comedy in Carbondale, Illinois. Prior to stand up, Kyle was trained in both writing and improv. Kyle has preformed live at clubs throughout the mid-west and in 2005, Kyle made his TV debut on Fox’s Stupid Behavior Caught on Tape. Kyle currently writes for the humor website The Whiskey Journal and is a cast member of both the Lincoln Lodge and Speakeasy Comedy. Kyle’s brand of self-deprecating humor will leave audience laughing… and wondering where his eyebrows are.
Tommy McNamara
After performing for only two years, Tommy McNamara has become one of the most exciting voices in Chicago comedy. Tommy has showcased at venues around the Midwest and in New York City, and at home clubs like the Laugh Factory (Chicago) and Zanies (Rosemont and Chicago locations). McNamara comes from a well rounded comedy background, as a graduate of both the writing and improvisation programs at the Second City (he is a current member of the Second City Conservatory). This spring he won the Chicago regional of the Great American Comedy Festival, and was also selected as Chicago's representative for Funny Or Die's Road 2 Oddball Tour contest. Tommy's energetic and affable stage presence, combined with sharp writing, has also earned him four mentions in the Chicago Tribune.
Erin Zimmerman
Maryland native Erin Zimmerman has been enjoying the charms of Illinois for the last five years. She began stand-up while a graduate student at Southern Illinois University with fellow Lodge cast member Kyle Scanlan. She is very happy to be out of school and back in Chicago. Erin writes for The Whiskey Journal website @whiskeyjournal and herself @ABoxApart. Erin also has a PhD, which is irrelevant to comedy but makes her a sparkling dinner guest.
Alumni
As the nations’ longest running independent comedy showcase The Lodge has not only nurtured the finest new talent but has also been visited by established stars over the years! Here are just a few of the hilarious ladies and gentlemen who have graced our stage…
Tj Miller
TJ Miller started his comedy career as a cast member at The Lincoln Lodge and has since gone on to an illustrious career in TV and Film!
Fred Armisen
Most folks know Fred Armisen from his hilarious Saturday Night Live characters but did you know that the character Fericito made his debut at the nation’s longest running independent comedy showcase? (Which is the Lincoln Lodge BTW…)
Hannibal Buress
Possibly the hottest comedy from export in Chicago in recent years Hannibal Buress was frequently on stage at The Lodge during his burgeoning stand up career and continues to tour nationally today. Even the storied New York Times recently featured our hilarious alumni in an article about his rise to the top of the comedy tree!
Natasha Leggero
One of our favorite ever guests at the Lodge Natasha Leggero subsequently went on to feature on Last Comic Standing and has performed her sassy brand of stand up on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, Last Call with Carson Daly!

Kumail Nanjiani
As one of our earliest cast members Kumail Najiani developed quickly into one of the smartest and funniest comedians on the Chicago scene. Since leaving Chicago Kumail has been seen on The Colbert Report, Michael and Michael Have Issues and is currently starring on TBS’ Franklin and Bash.
Kyle Kinane
From the moment Kyle Kinane hit our stage as a fresh-faced 20 something we knew he would develop into not only a hilarious comedian but also the somewhat “bleak, misanthropic” (London Evening Standard) 30-something we all know and love today! Kyle remains one of our favorite comics, most requested acts (and best buddies!) to this day!
Dwayne Kennedy
Despite his appearances on The Late Show With David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Comedy Central Presents Dwayne Kennedy may be the best comedian you never heard of! A legend in Chicago comedy circles Dwayne counts The Lodge as one of his favorite places to perform and in return we revere him as one of our smartest, funniest comics!
Eddie Pepitone
In addition to his storied and acclaimed comedy career Eddie Pepitone is also a stand-out character actor. On the television front, he has been a mainstay on American broadcast and cable networks and currently appears on Community (NBC), Bob’s Burgers (Fox) and Conan (TBS). Other notable turns include Arrested Development (Netflix), The Flight of the Conchords (HBO), It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FX), Chappelle’s Show (Comedy Central), two seasons of Last Comic Standing (NBC) and The Sarah Silverman Program (Comedy Central). Reilly, the upcoming Anna Paquin drama Free Ride and he is the subject of a feature-length documentary The Bitter Buddha which is now available on DVD. In addition, Eddie maintains his own hilarious personal Twitter feed @eddiepepitone and is a podcast staple, including his own podcast The Long Shot ( thelongshotpodcast.com) as well as Marc Maron’s WTF (wtfpod.com). Eddie’s comedy album A Great Stillness debuted last year on Billboard’s Comedy Top 10.
Rory Scovel
Mixing his spontaneous creativity and absurd view of the world, Rory Scovel is quickly making a name for himself across North America. Whether discussing drugs, politics, or life in general he shifts the vibe of any room and places the audience in the scene of every punch line. Rory Scovel has been a favorite in the festival circuit performing at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, Vancouver Comedy Festival, Seattle Comedy Competition, Del Close Improv Marathon, Bumbershoot Festival, Sasquatch Music Festival and Chicago Improv Festival. He has been featured on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The John Oliver Show for Comedy Central as well as Conan.
