What is Lasik?
LA S I K, “laser assisted in-situ keratomileusis”: Potential for Better than 20/20 Vision
LASIK is a life-changing treatment that can safely and permanently reduce or eliminate your need for glasses or contact lenses.
LASIK is virtually painless and takes a total of ten minutes for both eyes. An excimer laser is used to reshape the surface of your eye in just seconds.
LASIK is completed in two fast and easy steps.
During the first part of the procedure a thin flap of tissue is lifted from the surface of your eye. This flap of tissue can be created using either a microkeratome or a second laser for an all-laser LASIK procedure. Dr. Alexandra Chebil uses both of these technologies and will explain which is best for you. Most patients are candidates for the traditional microkeratone LASIK unless you have a very thin cornea, in which case the all laser–LASIK or PRK may be better options for you.
PRK - PRK stands for Photorefractive Keratectomy.
This procedure is a safe and effective way to get rid of glasses and contacts. A laser is used to reshape the surface of your eye.
The second part of the LASIK procedure involves the computer-guided laser reshaping of your cornea.
The initial layer of tissue is gently lifted from the surface of your cornea and a precise laser beam is used to permanently re-shape the surface of your eye. This laser re-shaping part of your procedure has evolved considerably over the past twenty years to improve the quality of your vision.
We use only the most state-of-the-art technology called CustomVue or Wavefront technology.
The VISX Star S-4 laser that Dr. Chebil uses has the highest degree of accuracy available. The laser measures your eyes in 3-D much like a finger-print analysis. During your LASIK procedure the laser will track even the smallest movements of your eye using ActiveTrak and Iris Registration technologies approved by NASA. This tracking technology makes sure that the treatment is centered on the middle of your eye for better quality of results even if you move during the procedure.
Once the VISX Star S-4 laser has completed the corneal re-shaping, the flap is carefully repositioned on the surface of your eye.
The flap adheres to your eye through natural forces, since no sutures are used.
The initial healing of the flap takes about four hours, during which your eye may feel scratchy or burning, and usually tears quite a bit. Your vision may be very blurry for these first few hours, so it is not recommended that you drive. Most of our patients feel back to normal by the next day and can drive and return to work. You should stay out of dust and dirt for the first week after surgery in order to avoid infections and dryness.
Many of Dr. Chebil’s patients see better than 20/20 due to the high degree of accuracy provided by the CustomVue or Wavefront technology and the VISX Star S-4 laser system.
LASIK Surgery Procedure
The day of your procedure, Dr. Alexandra Chebil will personally verify all of your computer measurements and will answer any last minute questions you may have.
Please remember to leave your soft contact lenses out for at least one full week prior to your procedure. Soft toric lenses for astigmatism should be removed at least two weeks prior to your procedure.
Your vision may be quite blurry for a few hours after the procedure so please make sure that you have a driver to bring you home after the procedure.
Please wear comfortable clothing and avoid anything fuzzy that may create static. Avoid drinking caffeine and alcohol the day of your procedure.
Pre-op Instructions
Our highly experienced surgical team will explain the different steps of the procedure and take the time to explain the simple post-operative instructions
such as how to use your eye drops and when to return for follow up visits. You will receive a written copy of these instructions as well as an emergency contact number directly to Dr. Alexandra Chebil if you have any problems or questions after hours.
To help you relax before your surgery, you will also be given the option of taking a mild sedative, such as Xanax or Valium.
If you prefer, you may bring in your own preferred medication to make you more relaxed and comfortable during and after the procedure.
LASIK Procedure
Laser vision correction is a quick and painless procedure which generally takes less than fifteen minutes per eye.
Dr. Alexandra Chebil will walk you through all the steps of the procedure and answer any questions you may have.
The LASIK procedure involves two steps; the creation of the corneal flap using either a precision instrument called a microkeratome or a femtosecond laser
followed by the reshaping of your cornea with an excimer laser. The excimer laser will reshape your cornea by removing tissue from its middle layer, called the stroma.
Before the procedure begins, eye drops are used to numb your eyes
Before beginning the LASIK procedure, eyes are gently held open and a precision flap-making instrument is carefully positioned
In order to obtain the most accurate results, you will be asked to focus on a central fixation light within the laser.
Dr. Alexandra Chebil will then gently fold back a thin layer of cornea in order to allow the iris registration and active track tracking systems specific to the CustomVue laser technology.
The corneal flap is then repositioned to its initial place.
No sutures are necessary as natural forces hold the flap in position until healing is complete.
Recovery is very fast after LASIK and discomfort usually stops after a few hours.
Most patients are able to go back to work and drive the day right after surgery. You must start your prescription drops the day after your LASIK procedure and continue for five days after surgery. You must also wear sunglasses when out in the bright light and wear goggles at night for five nights to prevent accidentally rubbing your eyes while sleeping.
Post Surgery
Please remember that your follow-up care is as important as the actual procedure.
Dr. Alexandra Chebil will check your vision at every single post-op visit for one full year.
We will schedule the following visits as part of your post-op package
1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year. There is no additional charge if you need to come back to see us more frequently.
Quality of Vision, High Satisfaction Levels
94% of people who wear glasses for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism can now be safely treated with LASIK
Laser vision correction has become one of the most popular elective surgeries in North America because it is very fast, relatively painless, and extremely safe
with the vast majority of patients expressing high satisfaction with their improved vision.
One of the main benefits of LASIK is the minimal downtime
Most patients are able to go back to work and drive within 24 hours of their procedure.
Quality of Vision: Exceeding your expectations
Many patients obtain 20/15 or even 10/10 vision, which is better than 20/20
The majority of patients treated with the Advanced CustomVue laser using the Visx Star S4 IR laser experience better vision during the day
as well as clearer night vision then they could ever get with their glasses or contact lenses.
Myopia
100 percent of our patients treated for mild to moderate myopia could pass a driving test without glasses or contact lenses after the CustomVue LASIK treatment. 98 percent of our patients achieve 20/20 or better vision one year after their LASIK procedure. Patients with high myopia were also very satisfied with their results with less than 2.5% requiring additional treatments.
Hyperopia
When asked to compare their vision after LASIK to their vision with glasses or contacts, four times as many patients expressed extreme satisfaction with their vision.
High Satisfaction Levels
96% of patients treated with the Visx Star S4 IR laser claim to be satisfied with the results of their procedure.
Nearly all (97.9%) would recommend the procedure to their friends and family. 96.6% of patients said that their lives had been improved by the procedure.
Conditions Lasik Treats
There are four conditions that LASIK can treat: Myopia, Hyperopia, Astigmatism and Presbyopia. Eyeglasses and contact lenses provide a temporary solution especially if your eyes are still changing. Glasses and contacts limit your ability to perform certain sports such as swimming and diving. Glasses can fog up in the cold and may make night driving difficult. Contacts can fall out and dry up and may cause allergies and serious infections. LASIK is a more permanent cure for these eye conditions as long as you are at least 18 years old and your prescription is stable.
Astigmatism
is a very common condition. Astigmatism is caused by a “double”, or oval prescription and causes the vision to be blurry at all distances. You may first notice problems reading small print especially in dim light. When astigmatism is more severe, you may get headaches or have problems with driving vision.
Presbyopia
is the loss of close vision that happens with age. This loss of accommodation is caused by a loss of elasticity in the lens of the eye. Most people need reading glasses when they are in their mid-to late forties, although it can begin earlier or later and depends on the person’s distance vision, size of print and lighting available. Presbyopia is a progressive problem that continues to deteriorate until the late 60’s. Laser vision correction is a good option for people requiring reading glasses, although it may need to be redone after several years.
Myopia
Myopia
is an eye condition where the eye has too much focusing power. A myopic person sees better up close than far away, so they are “nearsighted”.
First signs and symptoms
Adults may first notice problems seeing a movie, watching television or driving at night.
Hyperopia
Hyperopia
happens when an eye does not have enough focusing power. A hyperopic person sees better far away than close up, so they are “far-sighted”. Although hyperopia can be inherited, many people become farsighted as they age.
First signs and Symptoms
You may first notice problems reading small print especially in dim light. You may also get headaches or have problems with driving vision.
LASIK Technology
The STAR S4 IR Excimer Laser System.
Custom Wavefront-Guided LASIK with CustomVue by AMO
Dr. Alexandra Chebil uses the Advanced CustomVue technology which provides you with the highest level of accuracy and precision. Over 94% of eyeglass wearers can now benefit from this amazing technology.
What makes the Advanced CustomVue LASIK technology better?
More Accurate measurements
This technology can potentially make your vision better than ever possible with glasses or contact lenses.
Correction of Visual Distortion: Aberrations
Your vision can be blurry because of two main types of focusing problems called lower and higher order aberrations. Most patients think that their vision is poor because they are simply nearsighted, farsighted or have astigmatism. These types of eye problems are called refractive errors or lower order aberrations. Older less accurate excimer lasers will correct only this type of visual problem. Extensive research has recently shown that there is another cause for poor vision, called higher order aberrations. If the laser used for LASIK does not fix these distortions, you may have problems with night vision like halos or starbursts around lights. Higher order aberrations can also cause ghosting or double vision while reading. Older less accurate excimer lasers may make these problems even worse than they were before LASIK. The Advanced CustomVue LASIK technology was designed to precisely and accurately treat these aberrations during your LASIK procedure giving the potential for better than 20/20 vision. During your LASIK evaluation, the Wavesan Wavefront System by Advanced Medical Optics will perform a 3D analysis of the surface of your cornea. This unique analyzer uses Fournier and Hartmann-Shack technology to measure the focusing power of 240 points across the surface of your cornea. This information is then analyzed by the Wavesan system and formulated to give you the most accurate results possible.
More Accurate procedures: Eye Tracking and Iris Registration
During your LASIK procedure, 3D Active Trak and Iris Registration are two unique features of the Advanced CustomVue technology that add to the safety and accuracy of your results. 3D Active Trak is a 3D active eye tracking mechanism based on NASA’s missal guided accuracy. Your eye movements are tracked in all three directions with this unique, FDA approved technology. Because the CustomVue LASIK procedure is so fast and precise, any small movement of your eyes can affect the accuracy of your results. The 3D Active Trak measure your eye’s position 4000 times per second so you rest assured that you will get the great results you expect from your LASIK procedure. Iris Registration: Less chance to need an enhancement procedure During your initial consultation the Wavescan analyzer will take a series of pictures of the colored part of your eye, the iris. Much like a fingerprint, every iris is unique to an individual. During the LASIK procedure the Wavefront laser continually aligns your eye with the image that was captured by the Wavescan analyzer. Studies have shown that because of Iris Registration, not only will your immediate LASIK results be better, but there is less chance that you may require a re-treatment procedure down the road.
More Prescriptions treated
The Advanced CustomVue technology has received the widest FDA approval compared to other laser systems. This wide range allows for the treatment of most people with myopia and hyperopia even when combined with astigmatism. It is now possible to treat Myopia up to 11.0 diopters with astigmatism up to 3 diopters. Hyperopia can now be treated up to 3 diopters with astigmatism up to 2 diopters.
Four Steps in the Advanced CustomVue procedure
Acquire
The WaveScan System by AMO measures and records the wavefront errors on the surface of the eye.
Design
A custom treatment plan is designed based on the unique measurements obtained by the Wavescan System.
Align
During the LASIK procedure, the patient’s eye is aligned to the computer measurements during the Iris Registration phase of the procedure.
Deliver
The STAR S4 IR Excimer Laser System safely and accurately reshapes the cornea using a unique ablation pattern to reduce or eliminate both lower and higher order aberrations.
LASIK FAQs
Am I a good candidate for laser vision correction?
During your free LASIK consultation, Dr. Alexandra Chebil will examine your eyes and tell you if you are a good candidate for laser vision correction. You must be at least 18 years old, have healthy eyes and have an eyeglass prescription that is relatively stable. Over 99% of our patients are between 18-70 years of age. Most people who are nearsighted, farsighted or have astigmatism are potential candidates.
What conditions does LASIK treat?
LASIK treats myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism as well as age-related reading problems.
LASIK cost?
When calculated over the long run, LASIK will cost much less than eyeglasses, prescription sunglasses and contact lenses. Depending on your prescription, our fees start at just $299 per eye. We also offer affordable financing options.
Are there payment plans?
We accept Care Credit Health Financing with zero interest for 24 months. LASIK is considered a medical expense which may qualify for your 401K or FSA account.
Does LASIK hurt?
Strong numbing drops are used so you feel almost no discomfort. We also offer a mild sedative if you feel nervous about your procedure.
Are both eyes treated at the same time?
LASIK is usually performed on both eyes on the same day to reduce your down time and need for follow up visits. If you prefer to have your eyes treated separately, Dr. Alexandra Chebil will be pleased to do this as well.
How long does LASIK take?
LASIK is very fast. The entire procedure takes just 15 minutes for both eyes.
How soon after LASIK can I return to work?
Most patients return to work the day right after their procedure. If you work in a dusty environment you should wear protective glasses for the first week after surgery. If you have specific job related questions, please ask Dr. Chebil during your free evaluation.
Will I need reading glasses after my surgery?
In general, your close up reading vision after LASIK will be the same as when you wear your contact lenses. If you need reading glasses, then you may be a candidate for monovision where one eye is adjusted for distance and the other eye for reading.
What follow-up visits are included?
Dr. Alexandra Chebil will check you at each and every visit for one full year after your LASIK procedure. We see you back the day following your procedure, at one week, one month, three months, six months and one year after LASIK. Additional visits are included if necessary.
When can I drive after LASIK?
You will need to have a driver right after LASIK but can usually drive as soon as the next day.
Will I still need glasses or contact lenses after LASIK?
99% of our patients will be able to drive and read without glasses after LASIK. Very rarely a patient may need to wear a thin pair of glasses especially if they had a high prescription before LASIK.
How long is the recovery?
The majority of our patients see better immediately after their procedure. Vision may fluctuate for the first days and is usually perfect by three months after LASIK.
What will my night vision be like?
Older technology lasers sometimes caused night time vision problems such as glare and halos. Dr. Alexandra Chebil uses only the latest advances called Custom Wavefront technology which reduces the risks of developing these side-effects.
What are the long term results?
LASIK has a twenty year track record for safety and efficacy. Over 35 million LASIK procedures have been performed worldwide. More eye doctors have had the procedure themselves than any other elective treatment. LASIK gives you better vision all day and avoids the risks associated with contact lenses, such as infection and dry eye. Most people consider that their vision after LASIK is better quality because there is no distortion caused by glasses and contact lenses.
PRK - photorefractive keratectomy
What is PRK?
Most people have heard of LASIK, a procedure that uses a laser to safely and permanently eliminate your need for glasses and contact lenses.
LASIK is extremely popular because of the speed of recovery and the ability of people to return to work the day after the procedure.
Although most people who wear glasses are good candidates for LASIK, some patients may be better suited to a modified laser vision correction procedure known as PRK.
During your free consultation, Dr. Alexandra Chebil will examine your eyes and tell you which procedure is recommended for you.
PRK is similar to LASIK in that an excimer laser is used to reshape the surface of your eyes.
LASIK involves the creation of a thin flap of tissue using a microkeratome or a femtosecond laser (all-laser LASIK ). The excimer laser is then used to correct for nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and age-related reading problems.
PRK corrects for nearsightedness, farsightedness astigmatism, and age-related reading problems, however there is no flap created before the laser reshaping procedure.
During the PRK procedure, Dr. Alexandra Chebil gently removes a very thin layer from the surface of the cornea. The Star S-4 CustomVue Wavefront laser then reshapes the cornea just as with LASIK. Dr. Alexandra will then place protective contact lenses over the cornea for protection. The contact lens must stay in place until the surface has healed, usually between three to five days. You will be able to see after the procedure, although usually not well enough to drive for the first few days. Dr. Alexandra will personally remove the contact lenses on the third to fifth day after the PRK procedure.
Patients may be better suited for PRK than LASIK if they have
Thinner than average corneas
A very high prescription
Irregularities or scars on the surface of their eyes
Had previous eye surgery including LASIK, PRK, RK, Cataract removal with lens implants
High eye pressure or early stages of retinal problems
Job requirements involving danger of eye trauma such as professional boxers, divers or certain military operations.
Advantages to Custom Wavefront PRK
Better Quality of Vision
The CustomVue technology performed by Dr. Alexandra Chebil can obtain better than 20/20 vision for a large number of patients. This can result in better quality of night vision compared to standard treatments. People with larger pupils are also treatable with this technology which reduces the chance of night time halos and glare. Our unique tracking system with Iris Registration insures that the laser treatment is accurate even if you move during the procedure.
More Accuracy Means Better Results
Custom Wavefront PRK will remove less tissue than LASIK, which means that patients with thinner than average corneas and high prescriptions may be safely treated. Find out is Custom Wavefront PRK is right at your comprehensive consultation with Dr. Alexandra Chebil.
How do the Results of PRK Compare to LASIK?
Dr. Alexandra Chebil uses the same NASA inspired technology for LSAIK and PRK. The majority of our patients see 20/20 or better after the procedure. Both procedures are considered extremely safe with long term proven results. The main differences between the two procedures are the longer healing time and the number of post-op visits with PRK.
Is PRK Painful?
The PRK procedure is not uncomfortable since strong numbing drops are used. The entire procedure takes less than ten minutes. After PRK you can expect mild to moderate discomfort for the first three to five days. Pain medication will be prescribed to make your experience as comfortable as possible.
PRK FAQ
When is PRK recommended?
Lifestyle requirements: If you participate in contact sports or have a job where eye trauma may occur such as certain military duties. Eye conditions: corneas that are too thin for LASIK, excess corneal dryness, very large pupils Previous eye surgery, such as RK, LASIK or cataract surgery.
What is the difference between PRK and LASIK and PRK?
During PRK no LASIK flap is created before the laser reshapes the cornea.
Will reading glasses be necessary after PRK?
PRK will not make your reading vision any worse than it normally would. Presbyopia is a normal change in the close vision that occurs around age forty. If you already wear reading glasses, then monovision may be an option. Dr. Alexandra Chebil will discuss this with you during your free consultation.
How soon can I return to work and sports?
You can probably return to work and drive around four days after PRK. Avoid dust and dirt for the first month. You can usually swim with your eyes open at one month after PRK.
When will I be able to drive after PRK?
You will need a driver after your procedure. You will most likely be able to drive four days after the PRK treatment.
What precautions should I take?
You will need to wear protective eye shields when sleeping for the first week so you don’t accidentally rub your eyes at night. You will also have drops that you need to use for the first month after PRK. Our staff will explain this during your free consultation.
What Follow-Up Care is included?
Dr. Alexandra Chebil will personally see you at each follow up visit. These will be scheduled at one day, one week, one month, three months, six months and one year.
Will glasses or contact lenses still be required after PRK?
Our goal is to provide permanent correction of your vision. Depending on your visual requirements, glasses may be required for certain situations such as prolonged close vision or certain DMV requirements.
What if I had previous eye surgery?
PRK is an excellent option for many patients who have had previous treatments such as LASIK, PRK, RK, Radial keratotomy or corneal transplants as long as they are otherwise good candidates for laser vision correction.

BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport
Beauty is in the Eyes.
BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport are injectable products that Dr. Alexandra Chebil uses to temporarily reduce or eliminate facial lines that occur as we age.
As we get older, there is a natural loss of volume in the collagen and fat layers of the skin.
As a result, the underlying muscle pulls more strongly on the skin resulting in deep lines and furrows that give a tired or worried appearance. Even in younger patients, facial muscles are repeatedly used for expression of emotions such as concentration, worry, and surprise. Other facial movements like smiling, whistling, or drinking from a straw will also cause creases to deepen and eventually become permanent. Some facial lines may give the wrong impression of emotion for example the lines between the eyebrows that show concentration may give a person an angry appearance.
BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport don’t simply fill in the creases
they actually prevent the creases from occurring by blocking the contraction of the underlying muscle.
These prescription grade products are ideal for both men and women above the age of eighteen
who want to prevent the wrinkles from occurring as well as older patients who want to regain a more natural, youthful appearance.
Facial Areas that could benefit from BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport
These products can temporarily reduce or eliminate the frown lines between your eyebrows, the crow’s feet at the corners of your eyes, and the horizontal worry lines in your forehead.
Research suggests that they may also reduce neck wrinkles (necklace lines) and smokers’ lines around the mouth.
BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport have also been approved by the FDA for migraines and the reduction of severe underarm perspiration with results lasting up to one year.
Most adults with perfectly smooth skin have probably used BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport to maintain their youthful appearance.
Treatment takes just a few minutes, with results starting to be noticeable between five and fourteen days.
The duration of the effect varies between individuals, usually between three to four months. With repeat injections, results may last even longer depending on the strength of the muscle injected.
You may not be a good candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport if you
Have severe allergies to bovine products
Have neurological diseases
Have skin infections in the areas that need treatment
If you have sagging, drooping or very sun-damaged skin
Blood thinners and fish oil supplements may increase your chance of bruising
Botox FAQ’s
What is Botox?
Botox® is a dilute variation of botulism which Dr. Alexandra Chebil injects in facial muscles that cause wrinkles. This simple, nonsurgical, treatment can temporarily reduce or eliminate frown lines between the eyebrows of men and women between the ages of 18 and 65.
Is Botox approved by the FDA?
Yes, Botox has been approved by the FDA since 1989.
Does Botox hurt?
You will feel a slight pinch during the injection that disappears very quickly. If you like, we offer a topical anesthetic and ice pack to reduce the discomfort.
Does Botox work?
Yes, it prevents the muscles from pulling on your skin so the facial wrinkles are reduced or eliminated.
Can I drive after Botox?
Yes, you can drive right away after your injection. No recovery time is required.
Will my facial expressions continue to look natural?
Yes, Botox will not make you look un-natural or frozen. The lines between your eyebrows will appear softer and less deep. You will still be able to frown and look surprised after the treatment.
What are possible side effects?
You may experience mild pain, redness and bruising at the site of the injection. Very rare complications include temporary eyelid droop and nausea.
When should Botox not be used?
BOTOX® Cosmetic should not be used if there is an infection in the area to be injected, if a patient is allergic to the product and if a patient has neurological diseases like ALS or myasthenia.
What are Dermal Fillers, Juvederm, Restylane and Radiesse?
Juvéderm® and Restylane are smooth, transparent gels that are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally exists within the layers of your skin.
As we age, our skin loses its natural volume and hydration, and wrinkes and lines appear. Dr. Alexandra Chebil will gently ease the Juvéderm® or Restylane injectable gelsand Restylane under your skin to quickly reduce or eliminate the smile lines which are the nasal-labial lines that run from the corners of your mouth up to the bottom of your nose. This product will safely and rapidly smooth away wrinkles and restore your skin’s volume.
Juvederm and Restylane are some of the only hyaluronic acid fillers that is FRDSA approved for up to one year lasting effect.
Juvéderm® injectable gel is the first hyaluronic acid filler that can be used safely and effectively for people of all skin types and colors.
Juvéderm® and Restylane provide such a smooth and natural look and feel that no one will notice anything but a more youthful you.
It has been proven that these products give better results than collagen-based fillers.
Most men and women are excellent candidates for Juvéderm® or Restylaneinjectable gels.
Since they are not animal-based, allergies are very rare and may be a better choice for people who have tried collagen injections but were not pleased with their results. Juvéderm® and Restylane fillers may be great choices for patients who want to achieve a natural effect for facial rejuvenation of lines and wrinkles or who desire fuller lips.
Radiesse™ is another injectable product that is calcium based.
It is also similar to Collagen, but is safer and lasts longer. Although past uses included just facial lines and wrinkles, more recent uses include facial contouring, to enhance the cheek, chin, nose and jaw line.
Dermal fillers may be good options for you if you are dissatisfied with the way your face is aging - namely, if you dislike the wrinkles and creases that have surfaced.
Juvéderm® and Restylane may also be right for you if you feel that your lips need augmentation.
Juvéderm® and Restylane are appropriate for most areas of the face, including the lines around your mouth, your nose, and your forehead.
Dr. Alexandra Chebil may also perform facial contouring to improve the appearance of scars, such as acne scars. Juvéderm and Restylane can also be used to enhance the appearance of your lips.
Injectable products may not be good for you if you have excess scarring, have severe allergies or are pregnant or nursing
Dr. Alexandra Chebil offers complimentary facial consultations and will advise you as to the injectable product that is best suited to your needs.
If you are taking medication such as aspirin or fish oil, there may be an increased chance of bruising after your injection.
Testimonials
by Diosa W. (RN)
LASIK - I had finally decided to look into Lasik surgery, but I definitely had my doubts. When I met Dr. Chebil for my consultation, she provided all the surgery information up front. She walked me through the proceedures, and the pros and cons. She laid all my worries to rest, and I felt comfortable with her and her staff right away. The office is great, and the staff is super nice. The costs were very reasonable, and I had no problem scheduling any of my appointments. They provided as many eyedrops as you need or ask for. They even provided all the follow up exams at no cost to me…even 1 year later, they had me come in to ensure my eyes were still doing well – AND THEY ARE!!! My vision is now 20/15, and better than ever. The surgery went better than well, and when I woke up the next morning, I could see clearer than I ever could. Best decision I ever made. The only downside would be that there does tend to be a little bit of a wait for most of your apportments, but then again I don’t think I’ve ever gone to any doctor/ dentist/ specialist that hasn’t made me wait for the appointment, so I’m not going to hold that against them. Furthermore, I’ve referred 3 different coworkers to have their Lasik surgery done, and all of them had great experiences also! All in all, 5 STARS for Dr. Chebil!!!

LASIK - From the moment I went into this location i was welcomed with a smile. The woman who greeted me, Jennifer I believe her name is, was a total doll to me. The staff was extremely accomidating and to my suprise they offer other amazing services as well (already scheduled). My vision was not too horrible, however i had major trouble seeing in the evening. This would cause me to miss a turn at a street or even miss the opening of a shopping mall that had the restaurant located in it. Needless to say i made a lot of “U-turns”. I decided to go with the surgery only because the Doctor, Dr. Chebil, made me feel completely comfortable and safe. I have a thing about being cut open. Anyway, i couldn’t be happier with the results. I no longer have to wear glasses at night, when i did remember to bring them, and now i am saving a lot more gas not constantly turning my car around due to not being able to see. Also, should you go and visit, take advantage of their financing plans. They made it really easy and affordable for me to be able to get this surgery. Not to mention the other services they do, Fillers and botox (AMAZING!). I shall be a customer for life.

LASIK - Dr. Chebil and her team are very professional and eager to please. Prior to undergoing the Lasik procedure, my vision was terrible. Without corrective lenses my vision was limited at best. That has all changed now thanks to Dr. Chebil. The procedure was easy and painless. Dr. Chebil took every opportunity to ensure that I was comfortable and took me step by step through the process so that I wasn’t wondering what to expect next. The best part of the experience for me was being raised up from the procedure table and being asked “what letters can you see now?” to which I replied “All of them!” It was an exciting moment for me having been dependent on glasses or contacts since age 13. I am very pleased with my results. My vision continues to get better as time progresses. I will certainly refer my friends and family to this office for Lasik care and treatment. Thank you!!
by Tony H. (Firefighter)
LASIK - We found Dr. Chebil and LA LASIK through our insurance eye care plan. From the moment we entered the office we felt welcomed and valued. They explained everything thoroughly and even squeezed me in for an exam despite our visit being for my wife. We scheduled her appointment for seven days later and she just received her 24 hour check-up; 20/20 vision and getting better! We can’t say enough about the team at LA LASIK. If you’re thinking about getting your vision corrected; LA LASIK is the only place to look!
by Wendy H. (Makeup Artist)
LASIK - Wore glasses or contacts daily could not see distance without them. Night vision was always blurry. My experience with Dr.Chebil was the best medical experiences all the way around from the staff to the procedure to follow-up. Best decision I ever made to visit this office and have procedure.
by Daniel S. (Graduate Student)
LASIK - My vision was 20/200, now my vision is 20/15 within 24 hours after having Lasik Eye with Dr. Alexandra Chebil. Such nice staff, very caring.
by Karen M. (Director for human resources)
LASIK - I’ve been really happy with my experience. Both my aunt and I went here and we now have 20/20. I think it’s worth noting that two of the 1 star reviews are yelp friends - not judging, just pointing it out. Also, if you look at the filtered review, you will find they are almost all positive. I freaked out right before my surgery when I saw this review, but I’ve been really happy with the results. I haven’t used eye drops in a couple of weeks, and I’ve been fine. Worked for me!
by Tiffany A. (Teacher)
PRK - I got the PRK eye surgery done here with Dr. Chebil last summer. I almost blind without my glasses and could see immediately after my surgery. Dr. Chebil and her staff are all very sweet and they all made me feel comfortable during the surgery and it was painless. I recommend you go see Dr. Chebil if you are thinking about doing the PRK eye surgery. You won’t regret it.
by Casey R. (Hairstylist/Esthetician)
LASIK - I was practically BLIND! I CAN SEE NOW !!!! AMAZING!!! The office and staff is just wonderful. I’m recommending to all my family and friends.
by Jessica A. (RN)
PRK - My vision before my PRK was very poor. I was very nervous coming in- Thank you to Dr.Alexandra and staff for explaining everything to me. Dr and staff are excellent! My vision is now 20/15
by Arica T. (Artist)
LASIK - I got the living social deal from Dr. Chebil…I was pretty nervous because I am an artist and my vision is the most important thing to me, but after research I felt a bit more comfortable. The day of the procedure the staff was very warm, welcoming, and professional. I was given detailed instructions for after my surgery to take care of my eyes as they healed. I have 20/15 vision now! I could not be happier. My eyes are a little dry but Chebil gives me free eyedrops every time I visit. Highly reccomended! She even said she would fix my boyfriend’s vision for he living social price. Its wonderful to never have to wear contacts again.
by Taryn L. (Professional Ballroom Dancer)
BOTOX/DYSPORT - Not many people have a good hand when injecting botox. Dr. Alexandra has a great hand and I felt no pain. Thanks Dr. Alexandra. Will be going back soon.
by Julie T. (Homemaker)
LASIK - I was very nearsighted before my lasik, my vision now is 20/15. The staff are very kind and professional. I most liked that the staff has been here for a number of years. It’s comforting to come in a few years after my husband’s procedure and see the same people. Dr.Chebil I felt she was very competent and experienced. That in particular made me feel relaxed.
by Jess S. (Dental Sales)
LASIK - I saw the living social deal with Dr. Chebil and of coarse was skeptical… I’d already gotten a quote double the amount from a well known Newport Beach office and was awaiting my consult 2 weeks away. I decided to just call Dr. Chebil’s office and find out if I could get my money back, seeing how I didn’t even know if I was a good candidate for lasik. Better than getting a refund, I found out I could get the consult the next day before purchasing anything. Overnight I looked for reviews (seems like negatives don’t have much to do with lasik) & tried to do my homework about the procedure. The office is in Irvine, easy to find & the office validates parking ticket… I found out in under 30 minutes I am a good candidate and smart phone in hand – I bought the deal. I had to wait 2 weeks due to contact lens wear the day before, but scheduling the procedure was as easy as picking a day and time. I had my lasik 4 days ago and I have never seen better. I was completely nervous – but Dr. Chebil talks you through the whole procedure (while it is “painless” its still weird to have your eyes messed with – but stubbing your toe is worse than this…). I literally fell asleep on the ride home, napped through the afternoon and by evening I was up and seeing perfect. Post op day 1 check – 20/15… awesome. Oh and she does all the post procedure checks herself, doesn’t refer you back to your optometrist. Bottom line, I just paid half of what my BF did for the same results… I’m pretty stoked
by Javier N. (Collector)
LASIK - I was almost legally blind. After the procedure I can now see as well as I did with my glasses. The office staff was friendly, very calming attitudes and professionalism.
by Sonja Bethune (Professor)
LASIK - The staff were extremely friendly and there was no real pressure to schedule the surgery after the free consultation. Overall I had a great experience with both the staff and Dr. Chebil. When I first visited the office in December, there was no waiting time and I was seen almost immediately (after completing the appropriate paperwork). I first had to go through some tests to make sure that I was a good candidate for the procedure with one of the assistants. Then I met with Dr. Chabil who went through the normal optometry tests to see what my current vision was. She was quite pleasant and knowledgeable (willing to answer any questions I had). On the day of the procedure, Dr. Chabil was able to alleviate any anxiety by telling me exactly what she was doing in the exact moment. She would even count out loud when the laser was doing it’s job since I believe it was only 30 seconds per eye. The only uncomfortable part was when the doctor had to create the flap on my eye. Other than that I believe it’s a miracle given that I have lived most of my life having to wear glasses and contacts. I am even able to see things that my husband can’t see such as when watching TV. I’m now 20/15 vision.

by Rebecca (College Counselor)
LASIK - I have been meaning to post this forever. I had LASIK surgery a year ago and it was the best decision I have ever made. I had terrible vision and wore glasses and contacts since I was a child. I was terrified of the procedure so it took me until my late 30s to commit. The procedure itself was fine and painless. The first month was a little wonky with cloudy vision, trouble focusing, and floaters (all mild), but after that it has been smooth sailing. My vision is 20/20 and there is such freedom in not wearing contacts any more. Travel is easier and my bed time routine is shorter. I can’t recommend it more, especially for those who have been putting it off. Thank you Dr. Chebil, you literally changed my life.
by Gerald L (Sheriff)
BOTOX/DYSPORT - I only trust one Doctor with Botox and that is Dr.Chebil. I come in once a year and get treated with Botox for severe underarm sweating. I have nothing but great praise about this office.
by Tom M. (Sheriff)

PRK - While not completely finished with my recovery, the process was extremely simple, pain-free and comfortable. Having had Lakik more than 7 years ago, I was concerned that my surgery would be problem…but it was not at all. This morning, after my first night, I woke up and added some eye-drops and felt absolutely nothing. My vision is not yet 100% but I can already see improvement!

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes and being an excellent mentor, surgeon, doctor and inspiration. I will continue to spread the word as so many are restricted by glasses and contacts! Dr. Chebil, I am so glad I went through with it!

LASIK - I wore contacts daily to correct for nearsightedness in both eyes. Without correction I couldn’t make out street signs or tv channels. It has only been a few days and my vision is 20/15!! Better than perfect, I never knew the world was so detailed! Dr.Chebil and her staff are amazing to work with. It is such a pleasure to deal with people who take the time to walk you through each step to ensure your are comfortable. The patience and bedside manor are truly above and beyond todays norm. Wish all medical facilities were as nice to work with.

by Travis H. (Custody Assistant)
LASIK - Thank you to Dr.Chebil for fixing my eyes. I couldn’t see anything far away, now my vision is so clear. Everything is bright and clear and I can see at a distance better than 20/20. Everyone in your office was very polite. The procedure was quick and everyone did everything they could to help me. I felt so comfortable.
by Chrisara Mayo (RN)
LASIK - A few months back I was told I was contact lens intolerant (after wearing them for well over 10 years) and I could never wear my contacts again! I was stuck in glasses and could not take it. I had been exploring the Lasik procedure with another practitioner who was quoting an insanely high price for the procedure and all the pre-procedure testing took close to 2 months! I found out about Dr. Chebil and called immediately! I was in the office within a day or two and had the procedure the very next week. The staff was professional, convenient and welcoming. Dr. Chebil explained the procedure out every step of the way, even going so far as to check up on me the night of my procedure! I felt comforted in having her number and her following up on me that first night. I woke up the next morning and was able to see, for the first time in 15 years! I am so happy and have already recommended Dr. Chebil to my friends, family, and co-workers. Thank you Dr. Chebil and staff!
by Daniel Cubbedge (Student/Vocalist)
LASEK - have worn glasses since I was 3 and am now 30. My best friend of 17 years has worn them since she was a preteen. We both decided to take advantage of the Living Social deal in which we received a wonderful price for both our procedures. I am a scientist by nature and studying to become a research nurse. Dr. Chebil took extra time to explain each one of her tests (pre-surgery) their purpose and helped me to understand their results. Not all practitioners do this. She also made herself available to send emails about addition non-traditional questions regarding my treatment; such as eye physiology and microbiological responses to the procedure etc… Honestly, what Dr. does that. All potential risks of complications were made very clear through the 9 pages of forms you have to read and sign and initial and write written responses to prior to procedures. This makes all potential outcomes clear to a perspective patient. The staff were amazing. They made every attempt to ensure the experience was positive and as relaxing as possible. Heck, they even gave me a teddy bear to cuddle during the procedure in case I got a little to anxious. I would recommend this office to anyone who is looking to have Lasik, Lasek, or PRK. All in all I am amazed, happy, and would highly recommend this office. Thanks again to all who made my experience AMAZING!!!!!
Dr. Chebil is THE BEST!!! - by julies, Laguna Niguel, California
Dr. Chebil is THE BEST!!! After having a bad experience with one doctor a few years ago, of course I was extremely apprehensive to do this again, but this time Dr. Chebil gave me monovision how it’s supposed to be done. The last doctor said he would do monovision, he did not do the test prior to see if I was a good candidate, he got extremely frustrated while trying to fit some kind of suction cup over my eye, so that the flap could be cut (Dr. Chebil did not use this technic at all, hers is much better) Then after, I felt something was not right, my vision was just weird, I kept going back to him, and all he kept telling me was that I have dry eyes, and to give it time!!!! I gave it months at a time, and he made me feel like I was just making a big fuss over nothing, and I am NOT one who complains easily!! Until finally I decided to get a second opinion. My sis in law had Dr. Chebil perform lasik on her, and was VERY happy. So I went for a consultation. Her staff are absolutely FABULOUS!!! Marsha and Jennifer are so courteous and helpful, and bend over backwards to make you comfortable. Then I met Dr. Chebil, she was so gracious and understanding and convinced me she would take good care of me, and she did! She fixed my left eye for me, but I decided not have monovision at that time. She explains what she’s doing while working the laser, and it was sooooo quick! While she was doing the procedure she told me she saw some kind of lines or ridges on my eye (Probably caused by the other doctor) and no wonder I was having problems with my vision. She took care of that for me. This whole experience was a few years ago. Within the last year or so my close up has gotten worse, and I need to see close up as I am a DJ and use a laptop, so Dr. Chebil just performed monovision on me, how it should be done!!! My husband and myself see Dr. Chebil once a year for an eye check up. We have a nickname for her “Dr. Glam”!!!!! Because she is!!! Thank you so much Dr. Chebil and staff!!!!!
