Preschool Program
Our preschool program is nationally recognized, setting the standards for gyms throughout the country. We love working with our smallest gymnasts!
These classes are highly structured with skill-specific lesson plans, developmentally appropriate and designed to meet the needs of each age group
We strictly adhere to industry standards.
Class ratios are:
Parent and Tot: 8:1, 3&4 year old classes: 6:1, 4&5 year old classes: 8:1. If your child is participating in the 2 & 3-year old classes (Parent & Tot), please expect to be on the floor with your child. Parental participation is extremely important in these classes
Class Attire
The suggested class-attire for girls is a leotard and briefs and bare feet.Long hair MUST be safely tied back to remain out of the face. No jewelry should be worn to class. Boys should wear gym shorts and tee shirts. We ask that children who wear shorts avoid shorts with pockets, zippers or snaps (pull-on shorts only). During cold weather, the children may wear warm-ups over their leotards or shorts.Fingernails must be kept trimmed for the safety of our gymnasts and coaches. We encourage the use of good hygiene
Heart of Texas Gymnastics
Gym families. We are ecstatic to welcome everyone back as we re-open the gym! We have been getting emails, texts and messages from many of you, asking the status of classes next week. We have gotten the nod from both state and local officials to re-open Monday, May 18th. We have additionally taken the steps to consult an infectious disease expert regarding our protocols for the safety of our students and staff. Please see the protocols below.
Upon arrival to the gym, each student will need to be signed in at the front door. There will be a sign in sheet with the following statements you must verify:
I understand that while Heart of Texas Gymnastics attempts to provide the cleanest possible environment to mitigate the risk of contagions, there is no 100% guarantee that all contagion is eliminated. I assume the risk for myself and my child in participating in activities at Heart of a Texas Gymnastics. I verify that I and my child have not been around anyone who is sick for the past three days. I verify that I and my child have shown no symptoms for the past three days. I verify that I and my child have been fever free (without medication) for the past three days.
Coaches will verify the same criteria for themselves.
Coaches who are not feeling well will be asked to stay home. We may, therefore, be running with limited staff, and may have to adapt lesson plans or combine classes accordingly. We will be adapting all lesson plans to include activities that limit close proximity of spotting and touch, regardless of staffing.
Hand sanitizer will be required both entering and leaving the facility.
Hand sanitizer will be required at each station prior to use of equipment.
For this reason, we request that students bring their own personal-sized hand sanitizer for their personal use. This will help keep us from running out of sanitizer as quickly.
Team kids who use chalk will be given individual ziplock bags of chalk for personal use to eliminate congregation around chalk buckets.
Coaches not assigned to a class within any given class hour, will be assigned to cleaning equipment as each class moves off the equipment.
Coaches will wear masks until there is a reasonable expectation of safety, but students will not be required to wear masks during workout.
They may choose to do so if they desire.
We are requesting that each child bring their own water bottle for personal use to eliminate congregation around the water station in the kitchen.
Classes will be split to maintain social distancing.
We are attempting to keep class ratios 4:1. We may, therefore need to move some students to other time slots. Please be patient with us as we walk through this process. If we need to move your child or class, we will contact you. Those who have flexible schedules will be moved first.
Spotting will be eliminated as much as possible for at least the first two weeks in order to maintain social distancing.
Activities will, therefore, be individual and easily performed by the students without heavy spotting. Obviously, if a coach sees a student in eminent danger, spotting may be required.
We always welcome parents for observation, but we ask that you limit observation to one parent per child or family group, and we ask that siblings not come if at all possible.
If siblings must come, you will be required to sign them in on the verification sign in sheet. We will be encouraging parents to wait outside, if possible, or to drop and pick up rather than sit in the observation area. This is to limit the number of people in close proximity of each other. We will place seating outside for those who wish to sit on the porch while temperatures allow.
We are going to end classes 5 minutes early to allow dismissal prior to the next class start time.
Please do not enter the building until your designated class time. This will also eliminate the number of people in close proximity.
Information
We always clean the gym and commonly touched surfaces such as door handles, tables and mats with disinfectants.
We will continue to do so, at a much increased frequency during and between every class.
If you or your child are sick, please stay home.
If you wish to keep your child home as a precaution, we understand and respect your decision. You may make classes up at a later date, and we may be expanding available make up classes as needed.
If you or your child traveled outside of the United States or to areas currently affected by high rates of illness during closure
We ask that you make classes up at a later date, once incubation periods are over.
If you or your child are in high risk groups with underlying health concerns, we ask that you make up at a later date.
If you live with a grandparent, or have close contact with older family members, you may want to make your classes up at a later date
While children are considered in the low risk groups, elderly are at more risk if they catch the virus.
Coaches will be cleaning surfaces during and between classes.
We will always allow make up classes for anyone who misses their regularly scheduled class.
Please help us keep everyone healthy by observing the procedures we have put into place so that we can continue to serve our community responsibly.
