Zeke's Coffee uses the highest quality Arabica beans grown on single-estate farms, with a variety of fair trade and sustainable certifications. The majority of our beans are organically grown. We plan to certify our roastery as organic in the near future.
Tasting Notes
1600 Espresso
Named for the most famous address in Washington DC, this medium roasted espresso is balanced and has great crema. Great for entertaining heads of state or sipping macchiatos at home.
1812 Espresso
In celebration of the bicentennial anniversary of the War of 1812, Zeke's Coffee presents this five bean espresso blend. This espresso is proudly hailed for its velvety texture and smooth, creamy finish. The 1812 Espresso is perfect by the rockets' red glare or the dawn's early light. Our most popular espresso.
Balinese Blue Krishna
(Organically Grown, Fair Trade): A rare treat for the U.S. cup (previously an exclusive of Japan), this coffee is a medium roast with good body. It is laced with notes of chocolate, fruit and nuts, balanced with a slightly earthy edge and hint of brightness.
Balinese Kintamani
(Organically Grown, Fair Trade): From the same growers that bring us the Blue Krishna, this coffee is completely different due to the "natural" processing. These beans are dried in the coffee cherry and roasted to a medium to bring out flavors of chocolate and strawberries.
Brazil Cerrado
Grown in Cerrado, Brazil's most productive coffee growing region, roasted slightly darker than medium, the Brazil Cerrado tastes like dark chocolate, with a creamy texture, and a slightly nutty flavor.
Colombian Sierra Nevada
(Organically Grown, Fair Trade): This coffee is produced in the most desirable region of Colombia. The excelso bean is roasted medium to highlight its full-bodied flavor and its rich taste.
Colombian Peaberry
Grown in the Tolima region of Colombia, well known for its coffee, these tiny beans are roasted light to highlight notes of citrus and brown sugar.
Costa Rican La Amistad
(out of stock) (Organically Grown, Fair Trade): Roasted just a little darker than medium, this roast is a crowd pleaser and makes an excellent office coffee.
Costa Rican Willow
his coffee is grown at Hacienda Miramonte which has been owned and operated by the Gurdian family since 1917. They are Rain Forest Alliance certified for using native plants to shade their coffee trees. Medium roasted, the Willow has a hint of chocolate, a creamy texture, and a sweet, mildly spicy acidity.
Ethiopian Harrar
One of the oldest coffee varietals in the world, coffee from Harrar gets its fruity flavor from being processed with the cherry intact. Light roasted it has some of the sweet and dry properties of red wine, with a slightly floral nose.
Ethiopian Sidamo
(out of stock) (Organically Grown): From the birthplace of coffee, Sidamo is highly prized by coffee buyers from around the world. It features a fleeting, floral aroma with a bright yet soft finish. The darker of our two Ethiopian varieties.
Ethiopian Yirgacheffe
(Organically Grown, Fair Trade): This fine coffee is the premium washed coffee out of Ethiopia. When roasted medium, the acidity and rich-bodied flavor comes through. Also a great single-origin espresso.
Federal Reserve
A dark roasted based blended with a wide variety of lighter roasted beans, create a flavorful cup of coffee. Like the banking system for which it's named, the blend is complex and impossible to completely understand.
French Roast
(Organically Grown, Fair Trade): Using South and Central American beans, we roast them dark to bring out the rich, bittersweet flavor that is unique to French roasted coffee.
Guatemalan Antigua
Growing conditions in the high elevation, volcanic soil of the Antigua region of Guatemala are ideal for coffee. We light roast our Antigua coffee beans to highlight the flavor of cocoa and subtle hints of citrus.
Guatemalan Huehuetenango
(Organically Grown, Fair Trade): With the distinctive balance of all Guatemalan coffee, these beans offer a lively full flavor and completeness that creates a smooth, medium-bodied cup with a hint of citrus or spice. Also a great single-origin espresso.
Gunpowder Italian Roast Espresso
(Organically Grown, Fair Trade): Five beans from Indonesia, Central and South America are double roasted Italian-style for a dark, rich finish. Great as a Sicilian-style espresso or extra dark cup of coffee. Our darkest roast.
Hawaiian Kona Extra Fancy
Our only U.S. grown coffee, these beans are grown on the West Coast of Hawaii's largest island. We use a medium roast to showcase the coffee's aromatic, rich, medium-bodied taste with a mild acidity.
Hippie Blend
(Organically Grown, Fair Trade): One of our lighter roasts, this blend of Organic/ Fair Trade beans is a Zeke's favorite. A mix of Sumatra, Peru & Papua New Guinea, this cup is perfect at home, at the market, on campus, or in the back of your VW bus.
Honduras Ocotepeque
(out of stock) (Organically Grown, Fair Trade) Honduran farmers have been striving for a higher quality bean, and this delicious coffee is the result. Medium roasted to bring out smooth chocolate notes and a hint of nuts and citrus.
Indian Monsooned Malabar
This coffee is processed by careful expose to monsoon conditions on the Malabar coast, supposedly, to recreate the flavor it used to gain while passing around the Cape of Good Hope. Medium roasted, it is very low in acid, finish lightly, and tastes of toasted almonds.
Jamaican Blue Mountain
Grown at high elevations, in rich soil, surrounded by warm tropical mists, and aged up to four months, these beans create a mild cup with a spicy aroma and balanced flavor. Clean and subtle and possessing an excellent light body, unusual sweetness, good acidity and a complex finish, it is a coffee meant to be savored.
Market Blend
Developed for our farmers markets, this blend contains a rich and slightly dark-roasted Guatemalan bean along with a medium-bodied, slightly sweet, wine-flavored Ethiopian bean. This combination results in a complex and medium-bodied coffee.
Mobtown Espresso
A southern Italian-style espresso. This 3 bean blend is roasted to create a traditional dark, rich and smooth espresso with great crema.
Mexican Chiapas
(Organic Fair Trade): These organic and fair trade beans, from the country's southern mountains, offer a medium-bodied coffee with a bright and slight caramel/chocolate flavor.
Nicaraguan Selva Negra
(Organically Grown, Fair Trade): A medium roasted, well-balanced cup of coffee, which many compare to a more affordable version of Jamaican Blue Mountain.
Panama Boquette
The Boquette is grown on the slopes of the Baru Volcano in Northwest Panama, enveloped by rain forests. Medium roasted this coffee has a complex finish, a bright floral smell, hints of citrus and wine, and is balanced by a slightly earthy finish.
Papua New Guinea
(Organically Grown, Fair Trade): These beans are grown in the mountainous terrain of New Guinea. We roast them to a medium temperature to bring out their floral acidity and delicate sweetness.
Peru Norte
(Organically Grown, Fair Trade): These beans are grown on small farms in Northern Peru by the Norte Organization, consisting of 289 farmers. We roast them to a medium temperature to bring out their medium body and smooth, sweet flavor.
Red & White Blend
(Organically Grown, Fair Trade): In honor of the home team, this blend of beans is roasted slightly darker than medium to optimize its medium-full bodied flavor. A note of nuts, a slight brightness, a rich & balanced coffee flavor, and a smooth finish are the result.
(Organically Grown, Fair Trade): A coupling of our French Roast and Sumatra Gayoland creates this smooth and flavorful blend of dark and light roasts, in a balance of richness and earthy sweetness. A staff favorite.
Roundhouse Blend
Inspired by the B&O Railroad's Round House, this blend connects three of the finest coffees available. Beginning with a base of rich, bright Colombian beans along with some full-bodied Sumatra, we then add a fruity Ethiopian to complete this unique blend.
Royal Blue Blend
(Organically Grown, Fair Trade): A blend of 5 organically grown, fair trade Indonesian and Central American beans roasted in a rich dark roast-style. Great as espresso too.
Sumatra Gayoland
(Organically Grown, Fair Trade): Cultivated on the Western tip of the island, this bean, roasted light-medium, produces a full-bodied coffee with a wine like, syrupy taste. Shade grown.
Sumatra Mandheling
Grown on Sumatra, the largest Indonesian island, the Mandheling is processed using the traditional Giling Basah, aka wet hulling, technique. Light roasted it has a velvety texture, low acidity, and a mildly sweet, earthy flavor.
Tananian AA
(out of stock) Grown in the Ruvuma region in South Tanzania, these beans are hand sorted for size and shape. Medium roasted, the Tanzanian AA has mild citrus notes, hints of black cherry, the flavor of dark brown sugar, and a clean finish.
Tanzanian Peaberry
(Organically Grown): We roast this unique, single round bean to a medium color to enhance its distinct rich, acidic and full-bodied taste.
Tell Tale Dark
This coffee combines the smoky, deep flavor of an Italian Roast with the rich earthiness of the Guatemalan bean. Together, they create a bold, full-bodied cup with a dark complexity that would surely have pleased Mr. Poe himself.
Uganda Bugisu
(Organically Grown): Grown on the slopes of Mt. Elgon, in Northern Uganda, this coffee is named for the Bugisu people. We light roast it bringing out a lively acidity and nutty flavor.
Yemen Mocha Sanani
(out of stock) A smooth medium-dark roast with a very complex flavor, consisting of a mingling of earthy flavors with berry and citrus highlights along with a swirl of chocolate and spice and a hint of woodiness.
Decaf Espresso
A balanced blend of several decaf coffee beans, this espresso is close to caffeinated espresso as they come. Chocolatey with a velvety texture and smooth, creamy finish.
Decaf French
(Water Processed, Fair Trade): Using South American and Indonesian beans, we roast them dark to bring out the rich, bittersweet flavor that is unique to French roasted coffee.
Decaf Italian
(Water Processed, Fair Trade): A great decaf espresso, double roasted Italian-style for a dark, rich finish without the burnt taste.
Decaf Market Blend
(Water Processed): Combining coffee from three different regions of the world, this blend offers a balanced complexity and distinct flavor. An Indonesian, African and Central American bean, mingle and harmonize within one cup.
Decaf Mayan
(Organically Grown, Water Processed, Fair Trade): These Honduran beans create a smooth cup that is solid and medium bodied. Low in acidity and slightly sweet.
