History
Established in 1963.
In 1963, with the help of his wife, Eloina Ruiz de Ugarrio, Victor realized his dream of opening a restaurant in NYC, opening the doors to Victor's Café on Columbus Avenue & 71st Street. In a short period of time, the restaurant became one of the most popular dining spots in the city with a celebrity clientele that included the most iconic stars of the era such as Barbara Streisand, Celia Cruz, John Lennon and Yoko Ono. In 1980, the restaurant moved to its spacious new quarters in Midtown, where it has continued to capture the hearts of New Yorkers, theater-goers, and a creative cast of regulars including Barbara Walters, Jennifer Lopez, and Pitbull among others, for over 50 years.
