Family owned for over 40 years, the Union Canal House continues to set the standard for fine cuisine, service, and hospitality. This rural hideaway has been offering travelers overnight accommodations, tempting food, and refreshing drinks since 1751. Nestled in the heart of the village of union deposit, soldiers from the French, Indian, and revolutionary wars were the first of the restaurant's patrons. An existing tunnel was used to travel to and from their frontier fort to hide from the enemy while accessing food and spirits served at "Ye Olde Tavern". Legend has it the tunnel may have also been used as part of the underground railroad to help slaves escape to freedom. Some can even tell you stories of "spirits" that have come and gone throughout the establishment over the years. The Union Canal House features a succulent selection of fresh fish prepared daily and the highest quality steaks. Patrons can enjoy classic entrees such as Veal Marsala, Long Island Duckling, Chilean Sea Bass, and of course, our signature Crabcakes made with 100% fresh lump crabmeat. No fillers here. Our new menu also includes various salads, mouth watering appetizers and homemade desserts. We also offer an extensive wine list, a wide variety of domestic and imported beers and specialty drinks to compliment your dining experience.
