Matt Allen was born in Lincroft, New Jersey, where the kitchen was always a focal point at family gatherings. Recipes and dishes from family members hold a dear place in his heart and play a huge role in remembering the loved ones associated with the recipes of his childhood. He began cooking professionally throughout college during summers and breaks. Cooking slowly blossomed from a job into a passion. Over the years, Matt has cooked and learned from some of the best chefs and restaurants in Pittsburgh, like FET-FISK, Morcilla, and The Vandal. As sous-chef at FET-FISK, he realized the importance of highlighting local produce and forming bonds with the people responsible for producing the ingredients. He hopes to soon make his own imprint on the Pittsburgh culinary scene, instilling his love for traditional and honest dishes while continuing to carry those fond memories from his loved ones in the kitchen
