Our goal when we re-opened The Black Whale on City Island in 1998, was to continue the tradition of the infamous Black Whale of the 60s and 70s while updating the restaurant to serve today's needs. The atmosphere remains casual and romantic; the homemade desserts are always decadent; and the outdoor patio, brick-paved and decorated with beautiful fountains, is still a comfortable, serene get-away.
The menu at The Black Whale is extensive and has something for every taste. We feature contemporary, American cuisine including pastas, meats and seafood. In the mood for home style cooking, try a thick slice of meatloaf with mashed potatoes. For lighter fare, there is a seared sesame crusted tuna steak with ginger-orange sauce. Top off your meal with our homemade warm apple crisp or try an Orange Frizz (a creamsicle without the stick!).
The Black Whale serves lunch, dinner and a Sunday brunch buffet. Banquet facilities can accommodate from 40 - 100 people. A private party room is also available for smaller special occasions.
