It was 1845 when Herman Strack and his four brothers arrived from Germany. Herman bought 1,200 acres for $1.00 an acre between Stuebner-Airline Rd. and Kuykendahl on Louetta Rd. on which to settle. He raised a family, farmed, and eventually passed on great-grandchildren who believe in hard work and family support. The old timers of north Houston remember the vegetable farm on Louetta Road. It used to be a place where mama would buy a bag of homegrown tomatoes or sweet corn fresh from the garden, while Dad could step into the family owned country store/restaurant for a cold beer and one of the best Bar-B-Q sandwiches for miles around.
