About Us
Founded in 1991 Southside Café opened at the current location on Pontchartrain Drive. The building originally opened in 1987 as a local donut franchise by Dan and Sharon DeBlanc.
Expanded in 1994 to almost double the capacity, Southside had slowly grown into favorite meeting spot. It also had become one of the most patriotic places to eat. Fueled by the rising patriotism brought about by the Iraqi war, and Dan being a former Marine Corps Helicopter pilot, the restaurant soon became a type of meeting place for hungry patriots to eat, drink and congregate.
With the overwhelming support of the community over the last 20 plus years, Dan, Sharon and Chris have strived to provide that comfortable local joint, were you celebrate birthdays, graduation or just having a great meal. With a staff and customers that includes over three generations; Southside Café is looking forward to the next 20 years!
