Punkin Center Bar has enjoyed a very interesting history in it's nearly 100 years of existence. It was originally built in 1912, as The Packard Store, to serve the settlers of the area as a dry goods store. Through time it became the community center and the watering hole for the local cowboys.
Even in it's seeming obscurity it has been well known to many people of note and notoriety. Several country and western singers have dropped in for a beer and ended up singing a few tunes to the locals. However, one of the frequent favorite visitors here was Ben Johnson, TV and movie actor.
