At Karate John's we offer age-specific Karate, Ju-Jitsu, Fitness Kickboxing, and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) classes in a family-friendly atmosphere! Our Birthday Parties offer something for everyone so be sure to check out the different levels we offer! Karate John's Martial Arts Center is centrally located for residents of Cicero, North Syracuse, Clay, Liverpool, Mattydale, Central Square, West Monroe, Brewerton, Bridgeport, Kirkville, Minoa, and East Syracuse.

At Karate John's Martial Arts Center our goal is to develop confidence, respect, and discipline in our students while having fun learning practical selfdefense skills.
Karate is not about fighting - it is the art of selfdefense.
A popular myth is that karate is violent (like on TV) and makes people more aggressive. Many times parents are worried that their already energetic child will use their new skills to hurt someone. Students are taught that karate is for selfdefense, not fighting. They are taught to use these skills only if they cannot avoid or talk their way out of a situation first. A physical confrontation would be the very last option. They are taught that the skills learned are not to be practiced on their siblings, family members, neighbors, classmates, or at the playground.
Karate John's Martial Arts Center is conveniently located in the Walmart plaza on Route 11 in Cicero.
We pride ourselves on being family oriented, offering instruction to individuals, families, and groups of all ages and skill levels. Whether you are a novice, seasoned competitor, or somewhere in between, we have a program for you!

Lil' Dragon Karate (ages 4-6)
3 Karate Classes for Only $29 Includes Free Uniform! All while getting exercise and having fun! Children this age are excited to learn martial arts but are still working on their fine motor skills, understanding of complex commands, and problem solving abilities that are necessary for entering our more advanced karate program. The primary focus of the Lil' Dragon Program is to help students develop fundamentals and create a solid foundation to build upon as they get older. Our instructors work hard to provide the opportunity for children to blossom at their own pace. Through repetition, fun drills, and exciting activities our Lil' Dragons will learn life skills such as cooperation, discipline, listening skills, and focus (skills they will need as they go through school). This program also covers important safety topics such as:

3 Karate Classes for Only $29 Includes Free Uniform!
At Karate John's, our basic karate program is for students wanting to discover if a Black Belt is a viable and desirable goal for them.
This program allows students to attend class twice per week. After your child has dedicated themself to the goal of Black Belt, they will have the opportunity to experience advanced training in the Black Belt Club or the Masters Club. These groups are entitled to more classes per week, special Club classes and uniforms, and discounts.
Through training, students gain confidence and awareness.
They also learn techniques for preventing and defending themselves against attacks and bullying. This is a character, self-esteem, and self-discipline building program.
Adult Karate

It's a common myth that you must be young and in shape to take karate.
Nothing could be further from the truth! At Karate John's, you'll build confidence as you take your first steps into the karate world. You'll learn to improve your focus and self-discipline in order to achieve your goals. You'll also increase your strength without weight equipment and reduce stress in your life.
Adults can join class with their child for a family learning experience.
Separate adult-only classes offer a more intense workout. You're not too old to learn. Work at your own pace at Karate John's.
Mixed Martial Arts
3 Mixed Martial Arts Classes for Only $29 Includes a Free Pair of Gloves! Our mixed martial arts program is for teens and adults. The purpose of the Karate John's mixed martial arts program is not to train fighters but to train people interested in learning a variety of martial arts styles and be able to apply them correctly in a safe, positive environment. Classes are easy to follow, non-intimidating, and will help you get in shape quickly! Benefits of MMA:
Learn stand up and ground techniques (grappling)
Learn close up and long striking techniques

KJ Kickboxing
3 Fitness Kickboxing Classes for Only $29 Includes a Free Pair of Gloves! The KJ Kickboxing program is for teens and adults.
Karate John's kickboxing classes provide a great workout while developing basic self-defense skills.
You'll improve coordination in your hands and legs to strike with power while burning 800-1000 calories an hour.
This program will help build your confidence and help you feel better about yourself by getting you in the best shape of your life.
Combining yoga, kickboxing, martial arts, and new age strength training, we'll help you reduce stress, improve flexibility, gain strength, slim down, and tone up.
Our certified staff will teach you how to use proper punching techniques to sculpt your back, arms and shoulders while taking out some aggression on our heavy bags.
Tone and strengthen your legs, hips and waist with traditional kicks of the martial arts. Build strength in your abs and back during the entire workout along with an intense core-specific routine. This program is sure to provide a kick start to a healthier, stronger, and more confident YOU!

St. Patrick's Theme Parents' Night Out (Sat., Mar. 12)
Sign the kids up for an evening filled with karate, games, a kid-friendly movie and pizza and juice box. Siblings and non-member Buddies ages 4 and older are welcome to register too! Buddies must have a waiver completed by their own parent/legal guardian. This event will take place from 5:30pm to 9:00pm (doors open at 5:20).
New Student Buddy Bash (Sat. Mar., 19)
If you're a Lil' Dragon or Junior White, Yellow or Orange Belt, this event is for you! Show off your new love – karate! Basic karate class, obstacle course, games, pizza and fun! Admission is free when you bring a buddy! Buddies must have their own parent register them for this event. This event will take place from 1:00pm to 2:30pm.
Karate Day Camp (Fri., Apr. 29)
A great day with karate skills and drills, kicks and tricks, and exciting games. Daily karate lesson included. Open to students age 4 and older. Wear your Karate John's t-shirt, gi pants and belt. Bring a healthy lunch and snack. Space is limited so register early! This event will take place from 9:00am-3:30pm. Early drop off/late pick-up available with prior arrangements. Inquire at the front desk.
Summer Camps
Karate John's Summer Hyper Camps
At our Hyper Martial Arts Summer Camps your kids will learn real self-defense skills from a certified black belt instructor. Camps include kicks, tricks, flips, tumbling, safe weapons training, exciting games, friendships and confidence building activities, character and life lessons and much more! No martial arts back needed. Space is limited to 20 kids per camp so act now to reserve your spot in one or all of the following weeks: June 27, July 25, August 8, August 15 This event will take place from 9:00am-3:30pm.
