In 1906, Hafner Farms was founded by brothers, Jake & George Hafner. The produce they grew was the freshest around and soon was being trucked to local grocery stores and sold at their family roadside stands. With their hard work came success…and a “vision". Jake and his wife, Mary, decided to build a family restaurant as another outlet for their quality, fresh produce.
In 1970, Jake Hafner’s Restaurant & Tavern was built. It was run by their oldest son, Peter. In 1980, it was taken over by his brother, Tom, who is presently owner and operator with his wife, Cris, their son, Jake and daughter, Mackenzie. They also had a “vision”. They wanted the restaurant to be warm and inviting, and the food to be unique and of exceptional quality.
They bought old barns and incorporated the barnwood throughout. A family friend donated tons of field stone and a very talented mason worked his magic. Upon completion of the renovations, the restaurant successfully reflected Tom’s and Cris’s personalities.
