East 40 Food & Drink was opened in May of 1975 by Ed and Joan Conlin, who are responsible for the design and most of the collectibles you see here today. The antiques, pictures and fireplaces have been collected from travels throughout Europe and the United States. The bar is from and old saloon in Montana, the chandelier is from Spain and the stained glass windows are from an old Methodist Church in Bismarck. Starting in 1979, Caspar and Matina Borggreve operated the East 40 for over 20 years and continued the fine dining tradition, while becoming Bismarck's premier restaurant. Ed and Joan Conlin continue to own the East 40 today.
