Boccaccio Restaurant has been a part of the Hicksville, Long Island, community since 1977. Originally opened in a storefront on Broadway, Boccaccio moved in 2000 to its current home on Old Country Road, where the staff continues the tradition of serving the finest Northern Italian cuisine for lunch and dinner.
In July of 2009, a new owner assumed the reins of the restaurant, but wisely retained the chef and kitchen staff. Supervised by Chef George, with over 20 years’ experience, the kitchen continues to turn out a wide variety of delicious regional specialties and popular favorites.
Appetizers include traditional fare like Shrimp Cocktails and Oysters Oreganata, as well as notable items such as Chevapi, a sausage of beef, veal, lamb and portk grilled with sautéed onions; and Grilled Calamari, whole squid grilled with garlic, lemon, olive oil and parsley. And Mussels – in red (Luciano) or white (Blanco) wine sauce – remain a favorite of many customers.
Dinner specialties include Veal Osso Buco, prepared in its own juices and served with home-made Gnocchi; Liver Veneziana, sliced and broiled with mushrooms and onions in white wine sauce; roast Long Island duck; and a Veal Chop in a Bag, a hand-trimmed veal chop stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella, simmered in a white wine and mushroom sauce, then baked in a paper bag for an unforgettable flavor. Dinner specials change daily, and include a wide variety of pastas and sauces, with veal, chickn and fish specialties for dinner.
You can finish your dinner with home-made Italian Cheesecake, or Tiramisu; or perhaps a Strawberry Zabaglione for two, deftly prepared in the dining room. We know you’ll appreciate the care and skill that goes into preparing your dinner, and we hope to see you here soon!
