About Us
Since 1955, Allen’s has been an Athens institution. It started as a humble hamburger joint and has grown into a family tradition and a legend. People from all walks of life have come in and out of those now famous red doors. Former Governor and US Senator, Zell Miller, worked at Allen’s while he was a student at the University of Georgia. The B-52’s put Allen’s on the map and immortalized it with their song “Deadbeat Club”. It has been through several different owners and the original building has been demolished but the spirit of Allen’s lived on. Missing that spirit, two UGA alumni decided to take on the challenge of bringing a legend back. Though the original building is gone, some of the elements survived and will once again adorn the walls. So whether you want to recapture that magic from days gone by or create some new memories, we invite you to relax, kick back, and let the good times begin again!
