Duration: 1 hour; Free. Learn the ancient art of aikido, and you'll be able to resolve violent encounters as peacefully as possible. That's not say you won't have to (get to) kick someone in the face every now and then, but the spirit of aikido is one of compassion first. Because of this, you'll be learning self-defense techniques that focus less on hard strikes, and more on weight shifts and throws that use your opponent's weight to your advantage. This makes aikido the perfect martial art for taking on others who boast a considerable size advantage. You'll also learn holds and joint locks to subdue, and blocks to fend off attacks with ease. Due to its gentle nature, aikido makes a particularly good stress reducing physical activity, even as you get a nice aerobic workout in the process. Easy does it.
