The name Threepenny Cafe is a reference to “The Threepenny Opera,” written by German playwright Bertolt Brecht. Premiering in 1928, it stood traditional opera on its ear and created a new and exciting art form for the masses. You may be familiar with the song “Mack the Knife,” about its notorious anti-hero, Macheath. Like Brecht’s play—which was creative, exciting and accessible—our cuisine is intended to bring you amazing flavors using fresh ingredients at affordable prices. And that’s worth a round of applause.
