Testimonials
Laura Baker Anderle
You can feel the sacredness of this place even before you reach the last turn into the campus I only spent a days there and I feel that I am forever changed because of the short interactions I had with the dedicated people there being at the LOTUS (Light of Truth Universal Shrine) and also looking down on it from the high hill above it gave me an incredible sense of connection with the Divine. I highly recommend this place to anyone of any faith.
Micheal and Kathy Murphy
You can tell this is truly a spiritual community because of the way the people take care of you and take care of the ashram. From the person who checks you in, to the swami that leads the meditation, or the teachers in the many yoga classes, love and peacefulness abounds. You can see it on everyone's face. It doesn't take long before you, too, are reconnected with that which is your own true nature—that same love and peacefulness.

Truth is One, Paths are Many
We appreciate the world's faiths, recognizing the underlying unity and celebrating the diversities.
While we may draw inspiration from spiritual sources, the core teachings of Sri Swami Satchidananda and the practices of Integral Yoga form the basis of our path and yogic lifestyle.
The Integral Yoga Lifestyle Principles are based upon the overall code of ethical precepts
Yama and Niyama, as presented in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
Diversity of perspectives and the "rubbing and scrubbing"
Diversity of perspectives and the "rubbing and scrubbing" that we may experience in various situations serve as opportunities to teach us how to work through differences, purify the ego, and to promote spiritual growth.
The Goal of Integral Yoga
Attain this through asanas, pranayama, self-discipline, selfless action, mantra repetition, meditation, study, and reflection. The goal of Integral Yoga and the birthright of every individual is to realize the spiritual unity behind all the diversities in the entire creation and to live harmoniously as members of one universal family. This goal is achieved by maintaining our natural condition of:
A body of optimum health and strength
Senses under total control
A mind well disciplined, clear and calm
An intellect as sharp as a razor
A will as strong and pliable as steel
A heart full of unconditional love and compassion
An ego as pure as crystal
A life filled with Supreme
Peace and Joy
Yama
Ahimsa
Non-violence in thoughts, words, and deeds, refraining from profanity, threatening remarks, violent topics, etc. Our intention is to benefit at least someone and harm no one.
Satya
Truthfulness.
Brahmacharya
Moderation.
Asteya
Non-stealing.
Aparigraha
Non-greed.
Niyama
Saucha
Purity.
Santosha
Contentment.
Tapas
Purifying spiritual gold, "rubbing and scrubbing".
Svadhyaya
Self study.
Isvarapranidhana
Surrender.
Sadhana
Sadhana (Spiritual practices)
We study Yoga philosophy to inform our practices. To gain full benefit from the Yogic lifestyle we regularly practice asana (physical poses), pranayama (breathing practices), and concentration leading into meditation.
Karma Yoga
Karma Yoga
We approach all our activities as Karma Yoga—selfless service or an action that brings benefit to someone and harm to no one. During our service we relate with respect, understanding, and compassion, striving to be unattached to the results of our actions. We are mastering perfection in action by cultivating an easeful, peaceful, and useful attitude. "The dedicated ever enjoy Supreme Peace. Therefore, live only to serve." – Sri Gurudev.
Healthy Living
To keep our bodies and minds healthy
Integral Yogis follow a nutritious vegetarian diet. We don't eat meat, poultry, fish or eggs, and we use dairy products in moderation. We use organic produce.
Before eating meals
We offer a prayer of gratitude to Mother Nature. We strive to eat consciously and moderately.
We abstain from alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, or illegal drugs, on and off grounds.
These substances are not beneficial to our health and well-being. If an Ashramite is suspected of engaging in substance abuse, the Administration reserves the right to intervene as it deems appropriate.
Relationships
Relationships
According to the Integral Yoga teachings, sexual moderation (for those who have not chosen to be celibate) is recommended so as to preserve the vital energy. Yogaville is a community devoted to spiritual disciplines. In order to remain focused on the practices, residential program participants should not become involved in intimate/romantic relationships.
Environmental Awareness
We respect our environment, recognizing the cosmic force in all forms of life. We endeavor to treat animal, insect, and plant life gently. We strive to:
Use Mother Earth's resources wisely
Treat all objects with care
Recycle glass, plastic, aluminum cans, paper, and cardboard
Walk or use bicycle if possible
Work together to keep Yogaville clean, beautiful and well maintained.
Not waste food, water or electricity
Philosophy
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
A collection of 196 sutras (aphorisms) on the theory and practice of Yoga. The Yoga Sutras were compiled prior to 400 CE by Sage Patanjali who synthesized and organized knowledge about Yoga from older traditions.
The Bhagavad Gita
The Bhagavad Gita "Song of God" - is a Sanskrit scripture from the Mahabharata epic. For its religious depth, quintessential Upanishadic and Yogic philosophy and beauty of verse, the Bhagavad Gita is one of the most compelling and important texts in our tradition. It is considered by many to be one of the world's greatest religious and spiritual scriptures.

Purnima Sadhana: Full Moon Yoga Practices – Online
With Satya Greenstone, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT. April 26 - June 24, 2021. Date & Time Details: Live sessions with Satya, Monday, Apr. 26; Wednesday, May 26; Thursday, Jun. 24 (9–10:30 am). Tuition: $108 – Program Price. Registration: Please register by 9 am on Apr. 26. Monday, April 26; Wednesday, May 26; Thursday, June 24
Come together online for three Full Moon Day Yoga practices led by Satya Greenstone, senior disciple of Sri Swami Satchidananda.
According to the philosophy upon which Yoga is based, there is a close relationship with the Cosmic Nature (macrocosm) and you, the individual (microcosm).
What exists in the vast Nature has a corresponding interconnection with its counterpart in the body
The outer planetary orb, the moon, is closely associated with our internal moon. The moon within is called the mind. As the moon cycles between it's waxing and waning phases, so does our mental condition. When the moon is full (called Purnima or Poornima), whatever the mind experiences is intensified. It is because of this intensification the yogis recommend that full moon days be spent with an elevated mind in spiritual pursuits. The mind should not indulge in negative or harmful thinking. All our positive thoughts, mantras, and prayers will be magnified.
The full moon day is the perfect time to send peaceful, loving thoughts to the entire world.
Swami Satchidananda
"The moon has a direct influence on the mind. On the Full moon day the mind gets magnified. Whatever you want to do, if you do it on a full moon day, it brings better results. That is the reason why on a full moon day you should be careful about what you are doing."
Live sessions with Satya at 9–10:30 am ET on Monday, April 26, Wednesday, May 26, and Thursday, June 24.
You will have access to the video recordings for 8 weeks after the program ends, until August 19.
In addition, you will have access to the Ashram's Live Hatha Yoga classes at 5 pm ET and access to an online social community to connect and communicate with other participants about this course.
Full moon practice includes:
Surya Namaskar (sun salutation) with mantras: Honoring the source of Light
Chandra Namaskaram (moon salutation) with mantras: Honoring the pure reflection of that Light
Deep Relaxation: Assimilating the benefits of the practice and reducing stress
Pranayama (breathing practices): Energizing and balancing the mind
Gayatri Mantra: Repetition of the ancient Vedic mantra for enlightenment—the Light of wisdom
Meditation: Experiencing the Light
Full Moon Days

Purnima Sadhana: Flower Full Moon Yoga – Online
With Satya Greenstone, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT. May 26, 2021. Date & Time Details: Live session with Satya, Wednesday, May 26 (9–10:30 am). Tuition: $40.00 – Program Price. Registration: Please register by 9 am on May 26.
Come together online for a Full Moon Day Yoga practice led by Satya Greenstone, senior disciple of Sri Swami Satchidananda.
According to the philosophy upon which Yoga is based, there is a close relationship with the Cosmic Nature (macrocosm) and you, the individual (microcosm).
What exists in the vast Nature has a corresponding interconnection with its counterpart in the body.
he outer planetary orb, the moon, is closely associated with our internal moon. The moon within is called the mind. As the moon cycles between its waxing and waning phases, so does our mental condition.
The moon has a direct influence on the mind. On the Full moon day, the mind gets magnified. Whatever you want to do, if you do it on a full moon day, it brings better results. That is the reason why on a full moon day you should be careful about what you are doing.
Live session with Satya on Wednesday at 9–10:30 am ET.
You will have access to the video recordings for 28 days after the program ends, until June 24.
In addition, you will have access to the Ashram's Live Hatha Yoga classes at 5 pm ET and access to an online social community to connect and communicate with other participants about this course.
Full moon practices include
Surya Namaskar (sun salutation) with mantras: Honoring the source of Light
Chandra Namaskaram (moon salutation) with mantras: Honoring the pure reflection of that Light
Deep Relaxation: Assimilating the benefits of the practice and reducing stress
Pranayama (breathing practices): Energizing and balancing the mind
Gayatri Mantra: Repetition of the ancient Vedic mantra for enlightenment—the Light of wisdom
Meditation: Experiencing the Light

Satya Greenstone has great depth of experience and knowledge. She brings it to every pose she teaches, and provides a variety of approaches to make each pose accessible to anyone. She also provides an abundance of supportive material to underpin the lessons. I would unhesitatingly recommend any class she teaches.
Presenter
Satya Greenstone, E-Ryt 500, C-Iayt
Satya Greenstone has been a student of Sri Swami Satchidananda since 1971. She has shared the teachings of Integral Yoga® in many diverse settings with students of all ages and backgrounds and combines a natural, practical, down-to-earth approach to Yoga with a gentle humor. Since 1999 she has been a primary teacher for the 200-hour and the Intermediate Integral Yoga Teacher Training programs. While serving as teacher training coordinator, she helped to develop and teach the first Gentle Yoga Teacher Training program. She has also developed and currently teaches training programs in Restorative Yoga, Adaptive Yoga, and Yoga and Meditation for Children. In 2005, she received certification in Therapeutic Yoga and is currently certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). She also is certified in Yoga for the Heart. In June 2019, she received certification for teaching Yoga for Osteoporosis from Dr. Loren Fishman. She gently adapts the Yoga practices to individual needs and always finds a way to encourage and inspire her students who soon recognize that, for her, Yoga is an experience, not a subject for academic study. First and foremost she is a yogini, and her teaching is an extension of the experience gained from her Yoga practice. Satya exudes the joy and exemplifies the benefits that come from living the yogic lifestyle and she shares that joy and those benefits with her students. Always thankful to her Guru Swami Satchidananda, Satya believes that he has created the perfect environment in which to practice Yoga and experience the peace of one's true nature. It is that personal recognition of one's true Self that she tries to facilitate in every program.

KD is the perfect combination of compassion, insight, humor and truth-telling.
Elizabeth Wasserman
KD is a master at sharing big things in a simple way and being kind and patient with all our questions. Of course, the chanting was beautiful, sacred, and so healing, especially right now.
Katherine Kasey Conklin
My heart is overflowing with love. My deepest gratitude.
Melissa Amory
The whole weekend — the talks, the sessions with KD, the life yoga practices, all of it got me back in touch with my practice that had fallen away with the closing of my yoga studio. KD knows what he is talking about! It was my first experience with him (outside of recorded music) and it was neat to just hang out with him and listen to his stories and explanations. This online retreat helped me reconnect with my personal practice and expand it at home.
Kate Doran
KD is a master storyteller. He is authentic and speaks from his heart and tells it like it is. He is transmitting the teachings of the ancient masters in a simple, easy to understand way.
Maria Puente-Duany
KD is my favorite. His kirtans are fresh and contemporary, but they still have a traditional flavor. It makes me happy to listen to him, and to sing along. Krishna Das has a fresh, contemporary take on Kirtan that retains a warm, traditional flavor. He is also a down to earth and accessible teacher. It was a treat to get to ask him questions, and to listen to his answers to other people's questions. It is always a treat to hear him play and sing.

Krishna Das
Krishna Das has been called Yoga's "rock star," layering traditional kirtan with instantly accessible melodies and modern instrumentation. With a remarkably soulful voice that touches the deepest chord in even the most casual listener, Krishna Das—known to friends, family, and fans simply as KD—has taken the call-and-response chanting out of Yoga centers and into concert halls, becoming a worldwide icon and the best-selling Western chant artist of all time. His album, Live Ananda, (released January 2012) was nominated for a Grammy in the Best New Age album category. KD spent the late 60's traveling across the country as a student of.

Basics of Yoga and Ayurveda
Online provides a holistic model of Yoga therapy based upon Ayurveda, the medical aspect of the Yoga tradition.
Modern practitioners have tried to create therapies based on Yoga, but, until now, these therapies have not included Ayurveda or were restricted to asana (postures) only.
Such models are limited, as they do not reflect the complete Yoga tradition or the Ayurvedic components of Yoga philosophy and psychology.
Yoga and Ayurveda are sister sciences for healing and transformation throughout all levels of our being
Ayurveda focuses on the treatment (chikitsa) of the body and mind, while the goal of Yoga is self-development and realization.
Ayurveda is recognized as one of the most important systems of mind-body medicine, and its popularity is spreading in the west.
This foundational online course will introduce you to Ayurvedic concepts and language.

Purnima Sadhana: Strawberry Full Moon Yoga – Online
With Satya Greenstone, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT. Date & Time Details: June 24, 2021; Live session with Satya (Thursday, Jun 24 - 9–10:30 am). Tuition $40 – Program Price. Registration: Please register by 9 am on Jun. 24.
The moon has a direct influence on the mind. On the Full moon day the mind gets magnified. Whatever you want to do, if you do it on a full moon day, it brings better results. That is the reason why on a full moon day you should be careful about what you are doing.
Live session with Satya on Thursday at 9–10:30 am ET.
You will have access to the video recordings for 28 days after the program ends, until July 23.

Testimonials
Brigitte Arle
This course was a gift for the times we are in and a great resource for all the times we feel overwhelmed in the middle of a pandemic. I expected to learn Stress Management tools from yoga that I could apply to my private sessions and workshops and I did get that. What was unexpected was all the new coping skills so naturally became a part of my life in such a short amount of time. This training has not only prepared me to teach in a variety of environments to help those who suffer from stress and anxiety, it has given me the tools to make relaxation a priority for my own well-being too. I cannot think of two better teachers to learn from or think of a better time to learn this than now.
Shireen K. Lewis, Ph.D.
AMAZING! Changed my life! I was inspired to do some deep soul searching to facilitate my personal growth. The teacher-trainers are the best I have come across in years. It includes discussion of how yoga intervenes in managing stress for people of color and for those who are incarcerated. Can't get better than that! I am taking a lot of what I learned back to the women and girls of color SisterMentors serves. I highly recommend this course.
Raisa Punkki
I would highly recommend the SMTT Program for EVERYONE. It doesn't matter what your background is, your profession, age, or current situation in life, this program brings you the tools to make living everyday life easier. The tools that you learn in the SMTT course build your resilience and are accessible to anyone, anywhere, anytime. And the best part is that you learn how to share this information!
Anne Tedesco
Everyone should take this course. I was told by a former student that the course changed her life. That raised my expectations and the course did not disappoint! The course has helped me personally since week one and continues to do so. Now having the gift of this knowledge to share with people is amazing. I don't think there is anyone who does not have stress in their lives and so many of us don't realize the impact it has on us. Having the tools to manage how we cope with stress is more realistic than thinking you can get rid of stress. This course makes finding balance feel possible.

For everyone, especially Yoga teachers and health professionals
Yoga Nidra Training will give you the tools and resources needed to lead others effectively in Yoga Nidra.
Gain the know-how and confidence needed to offer Yoga Nidra for groups and individuals. You will be able to help your clients and students relax, increase body-mind awareness, make positive behavior changes, heal emotional and physical upsets, and enhance self-understanding.
Yoga Nidra, or "yogic sleep," is a comprehensive practice for going far beyond deep relaxation to a place of natural peace and quiet that is tremendously healing for the body, mind, and spirit.
Yoga Nidra is based on Yoga teachings and backed by contemporary science.
Studies have shown that Yoga Nidra can boost the immune system, lower blood pressure, decrease pain, and improve other health conditions. Regular practice can improve memory, concentration, and relieve anxiety and depression. Using a sankalpa (self-selected resolve) during the fertile brain wave states experienced during Yoga Nidra makes it possible to clear out useless habits and bring about positive and durable changes to one's personality and life. Yoga Nidra is fundamental to a complete Hatha Yoga session and can also be done as a separate practice on its own.
If circumstances prevent you from taking the full training, you have the option to take Yoga Nidra for Complete Relaxation and Stress Relief, September 3–5, 2021.
The weekend workshop is part of Level 1 training.
You may also stay longer and dive deeper into the Yoga Nidra Training and Certification LEVEL 2, September 10–15, 2021.

Yoga Nidra is based on Yoga teachings and backed by contemporary science. Yoga Nidra is fundamental to a complete Hatha Yoga session and can also be done as a separate practice on its own. It is gratifying and exhilarating.
Experience six amazing levels of relaxation to replenish your energy and activate creativity and intuition using pratyahara (sensory withdrawal)
Clear out useless habits, bringing about positive and permanent changes in your personality and life by using sankalpa (Self-Selected resolve)
Boost the immune system, regulate blood pressure, decrease pain, and improve other health conditions.
Regular practice can improve memory, concentration, and relieve anxiety and depression.
Feel truly refreshed. One hour of Yoga Nidra practice is equal to four hours of sleep.

Excellent. The Yoga Nidra program was very well done. I got more out of it than I expected. I will continue the practice—that is where the real value lies. I was able to experience the same lightness I find in deep meditation. Julie was very detailed and to the point. Also, the personal examples and experiences of others brought all the aspects together.
Lisa C.
Truly one of my favorite programs, and I've attended many. Julie's program reached beyond "how to teach" Yoga Nidra. Julie's way is very uplifting, pure, open-minded and adaptive. There is so much more to Yoga Nidra than I imagined and I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to discover it with Julie!

Satya's program provides the beginner through the advanced practitioner, young to elder, with a well-sequenced and paced class to strengthen bones. You may or may not have osteopenia and/or osteoporosis to benefit at any age from this informative program. This was an enjoyable learning experience for me.
Judy Bousquin
Yoga for Strong Healthy Bones, Part 1, is a terrific way to approach Yoga safely if you have osteoporosis or osteopenia. This workshop is informative, accessible and offers a balanced approach aligning with yogic philosophy, using effort, relaxation, mantra, chanting, and meditation for a well-rounded practice.

Satya Greenstone has a great depth of experience and knowledge. She brings it to every pose she teaches and provides a variety of approaches to make each pose accessible to anyone.
