Viniyoga
The word viniyoga means appropriate application; or in simpler terms, form follows function. As we move out of our developmental years and into our middle years and beyond, we need adaptation of form in order to receive the full benefit of our yoga practice. Yoga practice is meant to serve the practitioner to create stability and ease in the body, the breath and the mind. Increased physical capacity comes from the ability to maintain a long and smooth flow of the breath throughout the practice. Increased mental and emotional capacity comes from being able to maintain mental focus in an intended direction without distraction. This class focuses on linking breath with movement for increased mental focus and improved physical flexibility and strength. In static postures, we bring attention to the movement of the breath within and thus creating greater self awareness as we "breathe into" our areas of tension and tightness. As we increase our breath capacity, our capacity for other things; mental acuity, emotional stability, feelings of joy and contentment develop along with our physical capacities. Come explore the various tools yoga has to offer to achieve these desired ends
Half-Priced Community Class: Hatha | L1
Yoga is a very personal practice and individual journey for everyone who steps onto the mat. Everyone has their reason; some people use it as a form of exercise, for some it is a time of introspection and meditation and others as a form of social enrichment. No matter what gets you on the mat, remember it is an uplifting practice that promotes physical health and mental well-being. In our community class you will experience pranayama, a warm-up, some flow to get you warmed up and you might even break a sweat. This is a great way to check out the studio and see if yoga is for you!
Flow To Let Go | Level 2+

Kundalini
Kundalini Yoga works on your entire nervous and glandular systems. To raise the Kundalini energy means to awaken and enliven the creative energy. It is effective to both strengthen and stretch the muscles. It is an integrative system that incorporates the physical aspects of yoga as well as the mind and spirit. In each class you "tune in" by using the Adi mantra, followed by warm up movements, then the main kriya (set of kundalini yoga exercises). Each exercise usually lasts from 3-7 minutes and may include specific breathing techniques, or a mantra. The kriya will rejuvenate a component of the mind/body/spiritual system. There are over 7,000 kriyas and many are centuries old and beyond. A kriya may focus on a particular muscle group, your glandular system, nervous system, organs, the energetic body, or the mind. A kriya can be quite vigorous or very calming depending on the theme of the class. Deep relaxation follows the kriya. Meditation follows the relaxation and is usually practiced for 11 minutes
Yin | All Levels
The essence of Yin Yoga is surrender. To balance the heat-building, blood-pumping, strengthening "yang" side of a Vinyasa Flow, Yin focuses on postures that lengthen muscles. We typically hold these postures for 3-5 minutes in order to lengthen the connective tissue that surrounds the joints and increase its elasticity. The elasticity of our connective tissue diminishes with physical activity and aging, which makes Yin essential for injury prevention and joint health. Since a Yin Yoga practice often includes several long, seated forward bending postures, it also restores energy and calms the nervous system
Hatha Flow | All Levels
This class is created to guide students through balanced and creative sequences of fluid movement and grounding poses. We calm the mind by going deeper into the poses
Half-Price Community Class-Heated Flow
This class uses postures and stretches in combination with the breath to develop flexibility and relaxation. There are many styles of Hatha Yoga. Some use a specific series of postures; others use a flow of movements, while some may use props such as blocks or belts to assist a posture or maximize a stretch. All styles of Hatha Yoga encourage proper alignment of the body and bring balance, strength, and calmness to the practitioner. Our Hatha Yoga classes are based on the classic and ancient practices with attention to alignment and the deeper layers of yoga.In addition we will be heating the room to 80 degrees. I realize many of us don't like to sweat that much, there are however, many benefits to a heated practice and sweating it out! First off, when our bodies are warm, our muscles also get warm which creates more flexibility. Furthermore, heat increases metabolism levels and speeds up the breakdown of glucose and fatty acids. The result is the body will increase the ability to burn fat and increase metabolism. When we sweat, we detoxify releasing the body of all those impurities. Our goal is to create heat and provide a safe environment for you to deepen your practice
