San Juan Islands Charters
Windworks 2018 San Juan Islands Sailing Program
Call our office (206) 784-9386 or use the form on this page to make a reservation. Windworks stationed 2 boats at Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes, and the response was overwhelming with the fleet 90% booked for the last season. Based on popular demand and a lot of member feedback we have created a 2018 San Juan Sailing program that offers the lowest pricing available on newer sailing boats. All sailboats have a least (3) staterooms. Charters available to non-members (Must be US Sailing Bareboat, ASA 106 or equivalent).
Cap Sante Marina – Anacortes, WA
Boats will be stationed at Cap Sante Marina which is conveniently located about an hour north of Seattle in Anacortes, which is arguably one of the nicest marinas in Washington state and includes full amenities including Anthony's Seafood and is also near Safeway, West Marine and has convenient access to the San Juan Islands. Guests can get a shuttle to and from the marina for only $40. To view times and more information click here: http://www.airporter.com/schedules/schedules-western-wa#ana.
How to Reserve
Windworks will honor booking requests on a "First Come, First Served" basis for both our members and non-members. Please submit your request with your week preferences, and a staff member will contact you for the next steps. A limited number of 3 and 4-day charters aboard Lucy Jane may be available throughout the season. Please contact customer support for more details. Charters departing from Anacortes operate on a weekly schedule. Our standard charter week is Saturday at 9 AM until Friday at 12 PM. This schedule allows our staff to have adequate time for cleaning and maintenance between reservations, as they will most likely be scheduled "back to back". Saturday mornings from 9AM-11AM, our staff will conduct a Safety Briefing, and Charter Orientation where you will complete an onboard checkout of the vessel. This is a great opportunity to learn about the San Juan's popular destinations!
The Fleet
The San Juan Fleet will consist of 2 very capable cruising boats that are especially suited for cruising the San Juan Islands:
Hanse 470E – Scirocco
Scirocco is Hanse 470e performance cruiser with 3 staterooms and 2 heads, including an owner's cabin with a separate head. Each head includes a shower and electric toilets. Sleeps up to 7; ideal for 6. Dual diesel heaters run on shore power and at anchor. Spacious indoor salon with white leather couches, hardwood, skylights and a full galley. Scirocco, is also a sailor's dream with an epoxy hull, high-aspect three spreader rig, self-tacking jib, electric winches, North 3DL Marathon Upwind Sails, and all rigging run back to the dual helms for smooth short-handed sailing and an elevated level of performance while also being flexible. Scirocco is a very stable, flexible boat that can be sailed leisurely or for performance depending on your mood.

Charter FAQ - Charter – Frequently Asked Questions
What is required of me before I can charter a boat with windworks?
Vessels 25′ and under require a Basic Keelboat certification at minimum. All vessels over 25′ require a Basic Cruising certification for day sailing, and Bareboat Cruising certification if chartering for more than 1 day. We welcome ASA certifications as well! Non-members are required to complete an equivalent level 'Check-out' with our Dock Staff prior to charter.
Where can I go sailing when I charter a boat?
The entire Puget Sound is available to you! From our location in the Shilshole Bay Marina, a typical day cruise might include a sail to Blake Island for hiking, or down to Elliot Bay to see Downtown Seattle from a beautiful alternative view! You can typically reach the San Juan Islands in a day's time. All Windworks vessels are restricted from sailing through the Ballard Locks, as well as traveling west of Point Cape Flattery or North of 51° N Latitude. Need more ideas for a day sail? Come along on our next Day Trip'n Clinic, where you spend the day with a group, learning of perfect locations to sail in a day!
If I am qualified to charter but need crew, can windworks help me?
Yes! One of the main benefits of being a Windworks Club Member is gaining access to Windshare! Windshare is an awesome online forum that is open only to members. Through Windshare, our members can open a charter reservation to everyone, allowing the opportunity to connect with crewmembers or skippers. Everyone benefits by sharing the crew work, cost, and fun of chartering, while meeting new sailing friends!
What charter options do you offer?
As a rule of thumb, all Windworks vessels are required to be in the marina, or at anchor, 1 hour before sunset. Club members have the ability to charter a boat for a full-day (9am-1 hour before sunset), or a half-day (9am-1pm, or 2pm-1 hour before sunset). Qualified club members also have the ability to charter for multiple days at a discounted rate! Non-members have the ability to charter a boat for a full-day (9am-1 hour before sunset) or multiple days at a daily rate.
Can I charter a vessel without sailing/powerboating experience?
Yes! Windworks offers private Skippered Charters for up to 6 people! This is a wonderful way to explore the Puget Sound waters, guided by a knowledgeable captain. Just sit back and enjoy the sights of Seattle and other Puget Sound destinations, or you can also take your turn at the helm with a captain nearby for guidance! Bring your own food and libations to the party and participate in tacking and jibing as much as you'd like!

FAQ
How Do I Sign in to the App?
To create reservations or join a Windshare sailing, you must first sign in to the app. To sign in for the first time, simply use your email address and desired password. You will receive an email to validate your account. Once validated, you can create reservations and join Windshare sailings. If you are unable to sign in, contact Windworks to ensure that your email address is registered with the system.
What Is Windshare?
Windshare allows members to create shared charters to save money and meet other Windworks members. When you create a Windshare reservation, other members can join in. The cost is split amongst all the members who join the sailing. This lets you get out on the water with a lower cost.
How Do I Create a Windshare Reservation?
When reserving a boat within the app (available by viewing the details of a boat), simply select the Windshare option. You can then specify the minimum and a maximum number of participants as well as enter a description for others to read.
How Do I See Available Windshares or Join One?
Windshare reservations are shown on the Windshare tab within the app. If you are interested in a sailing, tap the sailing to get details or join the sailing.
Who Can Create a Windshare Reservation?
Any member who is certified to charter a Windworks boat can create a Windshare reservation. The same rules apply as for any charter. That is: Vessels 25′ and under require a Basic Keelboat certification at the minimum. All vessels over 25′ require a Basic Cruising certification for day sailing, and Bareboat Cruising certification if chartering for more than one day.
Who Can Create Join a Windshare Reservation?
Any member can join a Windshare sailing. Be sure to check the description for any details on the sailing.
I Am Participating in a Windshare Sailing. How Can I Communicate with Other Members Participating in the Windshare?
Once you've joined a sailing, you can exchange messages with other participants from the Windshare details page within the app.
How Is This Related to the Old Windshare Program?
We see this as an improvement over the old email-based Windshare program. Over time, the old Windshare system will be phased out.
How Do I Modify or Cancel a Reservation?
Contact Windworks to modify or cancel a reservation. The Windworks cancellation policy applies.
