Pet boarding - our only business - and one that reflects our life long relationship with dogs and cats!
Only boarding!
While animal care facilities of more recent vintage gather several animal oriented businesses together, businesses such as grooming, training, boutiques and spas, we’ve chosen to be expert in just one - boarding of dogs and cats.
We’ve been at our kennel for over 20 years, and during that time have seen fads and changes in pet care come and go. Our “bottom line” objective in pet care has always been to
Provide secure, safe, and healthy surroundings. Staff with “dog and cat people” that are aware and sensitive to animal behavior. Treat our “guests” as you would like to be treated. Our “Furry Golden Rule”.
Tens of thousands of our guests have enjoyed, and continue to enjoy that approach to their care.
The more recently established pet care facilities seem to emphasize amenities more fitting for human consumption, and while we understand their motivation, we’re not so certain that our canine and feline guests do!
Only boarding - with a lengthy history of very happy guests and families!
Please drop by the kennel, take a tour of our facilities, and receive a 10% discount of your pet’s first stay with us. We believe you’ll become a very pleased customer of West Valley Pet Lodge & Kennel.
Day Care Plus+
Your daily routine or some unexpected events in your life may prompt you to need some temporary, or daily care and security for your dog. Our Day Care Plus+, or Day Care Plus/Plus+ programs may be just the help you need.
Our Day Care Plus+, at $15.00 per day
includes the following:
A private kennel run, plus a romp and play in our secure Playtime yard, with one of our kennel associates.
This individual attention is what your pet has with you at home, and avoids the potential hazards of "group play."
A lunch time “snack”, which is a sample size of our highly rated Pro Plan Shredded Chicken & Rice dog food.
The dogs love it!! A healthy, good and nutritious snack, not a “treat” type snack.
Our Day Care Plus/Plus+
includes these options:
A second Playtime session for an additional $3.
A full meal, for an additional $3, usually sufficient for your dog's regular daily diet of Pro Plan Shredded Chicken & Rice.
You'll have no pressing need to rush home for feeding, and perhaps you'll enjoy a savings in your food budget.
Or instead, both of the above for an additional $5.
General Information and Requirements
General Information and Requirements
All dogs must have current vaccinations as prescribed by your Veterinarian. Please bring a copy of your dogs vaccination records on your first visit - we will return them to you. We will also need an emergency telephone number in case we need to contact you. Our entrance vaccinations requirements are the same as those for regular longer term boarding.
Boarding Your Cat
Our cozy Cattery is located in a separate building, quite apart from the main dog kennel area.
While your cat may be accustomed to some canine interplay, in particular if your family is boarding both your cat and dog, we find our “aloof” cat guests much prefer their own private area and housing.
Just like our canine guests, cats do thrive on routine.
Our staff provides your cat or cats with either special food that you provide, or our top quality Pro Plan Cat Food. While cats can be very choosy about their food, we find that our Pro Plan menu is well liked by all.
The Cattery is small but cozy, and equipped with private “dens” for our guests.
Our dens provide a horizontal space for isometric “stretching” exercise, not vertical “condos”, where jumping can lead to injury. They measure 8' x 2' x 2', plenty of room for stretching, and their bedding, toilet, and toys. They are obviously cleaned daily, or during the day if necessary.
The Cattery is temperature controlled with air-conditioning and/or heat, and an all-important, fresh-air turbine and built-in wall fan for proper fresh air circulation.
Good fresh air circulation in any pet care facility is of paramount importance in minimizing cross-contamination of air-borne diseases.
While cats enjoy their privacy and sedentary lifestyle, our staff keeps them quite active, in particular while cleaning their dens.
Playtime on the Cattery “gymnasium”, different toys to play with, a view of a faux aquarium with moving fish, and simply extra attention keep them plenty busy – if they want to be – while they wait to return home. The feline member or members of your family will find they have been in good hands at West Valley Pet Lodge.

Check-Out
Infectious Bronchitis (also known as Infectious Tracheobronchitis, Show Dog Cough, Kennel Cough) is a common problem among dogs, especially when they are close to each other such as at a boarding facility, dog show, pet store, grooming parlor, and dog pound. It is characterized by coughing and is spread like the common cold of humans. Coughing may persist up to several weeks. Vaccinations can be quite helpful, but there is no vaccine that will guarantee full protection. If your dog develops a cough, you should see you veterinarian.

Pet Sitting/Sitters
Pet sitting has become another option in pet care in recent years as people seek out convenient ways to care for pets while they’re away on trips or vacations.
While we acknowledge our bias towards supervised kennel care versus pet sitting, we think it our responsibility to “speak on behalf” of pets in general, and on your dog or cat in particular, so that you can make an informed decision on their care.
A “sitter” is in your home for a relatively short period of time, and therefore your pet usually receives very little human interaction or supervision while you are away.
The absence of your daily routine of coming, going, feeding, maybe medicating, and playing with your pet, in particular your dog, is a routine to which they have become accustomed. A sitter’s visit, usually measured in minutes, can bring some life and excitement to his charge for a while, but that minimal monitoring soon ends, and ”your kids” then have to fend for themselves for another 24 hours or so. Potentially dangerous, and certainly lonely, and it goes without saying that just as there is relatively little supervision for your pets, there is also no supervision for the sitter.
Supervision, attention and excitement are obviously less of an issue at West Valley Pet Lodge.
Having animal care professionals on hand virtually around the clock means that “your kids” get the benefit of the one-on-one interaction to which they are accustomed, from our staff, as well as from their kennel neighbors.
Their “home routine” becomes their “vacation routine” with proper care and busy activity at their licensed, professional care kennel home.
Don’t be surprised if they look forward to their next vacation!
West Valley Pet Lodge is owned and staffed by a family that has been involved with dogs and cats for a very long time - almost 50 years! While the kennel operation began 21 years go, most members of the family have been involved in the breeding, AKC
showing, handling, and grooming for many years - and with a variety of dog breeds, including Irish Wolfhounds, Airedales, Puli. Shetland Sheepdogs, and more recently "designer dogs."
Are there such people as "Dog Whisperers"? We’re not certain, but if its possible, the family at West Valley may come close. We know, believe we understand, and care deeply for our canine and feline guests. Kevin, Gary, Arleen and Sue will be spending time, and caring for your family member just as you would expect us to.
