Lymphatic Drainage Manual Therapy Massage
Lymphatic drainage manual therapy massage is a specialized body work technique that applies repetitive pressure at lymph node sites and a stroking technique along lymph vessels that stimulates the movement of lymph fluid. This therapy assists with post surgical swelling and inflammation due to numerous heath complaints such as sinusitis, arthritis, gastritis, back pain, neck pain and more
Reiki
Reiki is a touch therapy method that uses chi (energy) to bring balance and improve health. The practitioner applies a light touch to the client or works slightly above the body in the client's energy field. This approach to energy healing connects with the subtle energy of life to feed and balance the body's own subtle energy system, leading to greater well-being. During a session the mind and body attains a peaceful, restful state which empowers the body's natural healing abilities to occur. During a session the client relaxes on a massage table, staying fully dressed with their shoes off
Acupressure
Acupressure uses light to moderate pressure which is applied to acupuncture points with the thumb, fingers, palms, forearms and elbows. Acupressure helps to bring the body into balance

Dr. Victoria K. Goldsten - Chakra Balancing with Guided Imagery
Integrative Homeopath, Natural Health Care Nurse, Licensed Massage Therapist
America's favorite health guru, Dr. Oz
has stated:"...we begin to realize that the next big frontier in medicine is energy medicine... it's understanding for the first time how energy influences how we feel."
Medical doctors have been using energy
since the development and use of the EKG, EEG, MRI, X-ray and CT scan machines in the early 20th century to record the electrical activity of various organs and detect possible blockages, injuries or illnesses
The chakras are our body's natural energy centers.
The 7 major chakras are located up the front of the body - they also have a back side that runs up the spine. These centers are continually turning when the body is functioning properly. However, our stressful lives can take a toll on the centers and cause them to "go out of balance". The Chakra energy balance is not specifically felt, but it's weaknesses are reflected in physical illness, joint aches and pains, emotional upset, anger, lasing out behavior, difficult personal communication, and more. People who are sensitive to energy can feel they are out of balance, or that something is not quite right, no matter what they try to do. The Chakras are strongly connected to the nervous system's electrical energy thereby reacting with it
Guided Crystal Chakra Balancing Energy work includes aura clearing and can include aura reading.
It balances the 7 major chakras, clears energy blockages, and opens up the mental and physical body to healing. The guided imagery component adds an additional method of healing that has the client participate in the process thereby making the session much more powerful. The addition of a crystal strengthens the chakra energy and positive energy movement
Testimonials
I had been holding in my feeling but then I would lash out at people.
I went to anger management classes but I needed more. I found Dr. Goldsten and the experience was amazing. She was spot on with her assessment of my energy and how it connected with my life. I definitely feel I can do so much more in my life now. I am less stressed and more positive. I could feel the change in energy as I was receiving the treatment. I cried during and after the treatment which was a great release for me. I definitely want to return for another session
I first met Dr. Goldsten while I was a volunteer at Community Hospices where her people came in to help.
I had lost my husband, and, the hospice provided a bereavement group with various people who used different healing methods. For the past several years I have been a regular for chakra energy work and homeopathy. I also did three regression sessions with her which was very, hard work, but, worth it. I have to say a great big "thank you" for all that I have learned in this time. I did not realize it at first, but, I was in class at school again

What the experts say
What do you think can be done to help reduce health care costs for businesses and individuals? Washington Business Journal
George Lane, principal, Mercer LLC
"Preliminary results from Mercer's 2008 National Survey of Employer-Sponsored Health Plans indicate 59 percent of employers intend to increase employee cost-share requirements — higher out-of-pocket costs when care is obtained and/or increased payroll deductions. Almost 20 percent intend to add a consumer-directed health plan, typically designed to cost less. CDHPs have greater financial exposure for employees but provide tools to help employees manage health care expenses. Employers continue to communicate the importance of preventive care and managing chronic disease conditions, since failing to do so can result in higher costs in the future."
Dr. Patricia Davidson, Cardiologist, Washington Hospital Center
"Businesses should ban smoking in and near their facility. They should offer smoking-cessation programs. Office cafeterias should offer heart-healthy choices. Gyms on the premises or reduced-rate memberships would encourage more exercise. At a recent conference, the speaker indicated the rate of heart disease decreased so much in his California community that they had to reduce their interventional cardiologists from four to one. One reason was the smoking ban and lack of social acceptance to smoking. The other was the lack of obesity. These two factors alone resulted in a 50 percent reduction in heart disease."
Dr. Victoria Goldsten, director, Washington Institute of Natural Medicine
"It is important to focus on wellness and preventative medicine. These types of methods are offered by doctors of naturopathy, herbalists, homeopaths, nutritional consultants, holistic practitioners and other types of natural health care practitioners. The practitioner evaluates subtle imbalances within the body and then recommends a natural health care treatment plan. The treatment may include nutritional guidance, natural remedies, supplements, bodywork, exercises, guided imagery or stressmanagement techniques. Some businesses have offered employee appreciation days or health fairs to staff members."
Paul Grenaldo, chief operating officer, Providence Hospital
"The best way to reduce health care costs is to improve the health of your staff. As a major employer and the first hospital in the District with a tobacco-free environment, Providence encourages healthy lifestyle choices for all its associates and medical/dental staff through free smoking-cessation classes, fitness classes and programs to promote healthy eating and living options, and organized participation in charitable walk/runs."
Dr. Thomas Connally, medical director, Arlington Free Clinic
"The greatest improvement in building a cost-effective, high-quality system will be to strengthen our deteriorating primary care provider network. Sophisticated studies show that one of the major differences between our system and those of other more costeffective countries is that far less of our care is provided by primary care physicians. Other studies show that those areas in our country where the per-patient costs are lowest have the highest concentration of primary care doctors and those with the most specialists have the highest cost. Again, the quality of care is equal or better in the high primary care areas."

Dr. Victoria Goldsten - Interviews by Students
interviews of alternative medicine practitioners by students
Unfortunately being interviewed by students regarding natural health care has been a problem for the Washington Institute.
The Institute has historically had difficulties with students being irresponsible with the data they have received. Many times the practitioner has been misquoted or the credentials published incorrect. The Interviews have not been taken seriously
In addition, information obtained from articles written incorrectly could accidentally harm a person if a product is not used properly.
When using herbs, therapeutic oils, and the like, although very beneficial to health responsibly is needed during use. The therapy needs to meet the needs of the person and should be used in a safe manner. The user needs to be aware of possible side effects or drug interaction. An article written on the alternative medicine subject without reviewing contraindication could inadvertently give a person an idea to use a product that may be too strong for them or may harm them
In addition, alternative medicine practitioners have had numerous difficulties historically with students misquoting the practitioner and inadvertently the wrong credentials have been used.
These errors can severely jeopardize the professional. If interviewed by a student, the document needs to be approved prior to completion. It is important that practitioners have the ability to review anything that has been written or filmed because wrong information could get into print or on video that could harm a person or the livelihood of the practitioner
Also be advised that a practitioner of the Institute cannot give permission for an interview or video.
That approval has to come from the Director of the Institute, Dr. Goldsten
If an interview or film is requested
the student will have to meet with the Director Dr. Goldsten in order to determine what can be done. Dr. Goldsten charges a consultation fee of $95 per hour. Upon approval of an article or filmed interview, a contract will have to be created by the student's school/teacher for the purpose of the interview and filming. This contract will have to state that the Washington Institute must review and approve the document or film prior to completion
Thank you for your cooperation.
Dr. Victoria Goldsten - Testimonials
Great Natural Therapy
Date: 1/30/2008 6:32:42 PM. "Dr. Goldsten helped me - lymph node repair After having a stress test I was advised to have an angiogram due to the results of the test and family history. Following the procedure I started having pain in the groin area and also my leg gradually got black and blue like it was bruised. After many complaints the doctor finally ordered a CAT scan and a sonogram of the area. The results of the tests revealed that the artery had not healed properly and blood was seeping out which caused the bruising of my leg and also an aneurism had formed. Artery reconstruction surgery was required to remove the aneurism and repair the artery. After the surgery I began to experience severe pain in the surgical area. A MRI was performed and the results showed that the lymph gland was damaged during the reconstruction surgery. It was recommended that I have additional surgery to cauterize the gland to correct the situation. I was told that this was the only way to solve the problem. I did not want to undergo additional corrective surgery so I contacted Dr. Goldsten to see if the lymph gland could be repaired with natural or homeopathic treatment. Dr. Goldsten put me on a professional homeopathic formula designed to heal lymph nodes. Within three weeks the pain was gone. On occasion if I happen to exert myself with excessive walking or exercise I will use the formula to help protect and heal my lymph system. The above MRI also detected fibroids in the uterus. I contacted Dr. Goldsten and started on a remedy directed toward this condition. A short time later I had a pelvic sonogram and was told that they could not see any fibroids. Also in the past, when I had my routine colonoscopy, small polyps would be removed. The next colonoscopy I had after taking homeopathic remedies showed that there was no polyps in the colon. Dr. Goldsten has been caring for the sick since 1973 and is currently working at the Washington Institute of Natural Medicine in Washington, D.C. She is the director of the alternative Medicine at the Washington Home and Hospice."

Date: 1/30/2011 10:01:22 PM. "My Fight with Viral Infections Natural Medicine Helped Me Every year I would get sick with some kind of a virus. It would hit me strong and I would be down for three days in the November to December time period. I think my body may have picked up viruses throughout the year but never became weakened as a true sickness until that time, once per year. That may sound odd but that is how I believe I felt. One day I was driving home and upon my arrival I broke out in a heavy sweat and was in a weakened condition. I dragged myself into the house and I laid down on the couch. I thought I was in for another three day stint of illness. Because of this condition I decided to consult with Dr. Victoria Goldsten, a homeopathic doctor at the Washington Institute of Natural Medicine. Dr Goldsten evaluated me based upon natural theories and came up with an appropriate natural treatment plan. Upon doing so I took a homeopathic formula called viral immune system stimulator. As Dr. Goldsten described it to me, the homeopathic was a nosode remedy that actually contained minute amounts of dead viruses that stimulate the immune system to fight off viruses. I took the remedy right away and by the next morning I was 100% well and full of energy. Since that time 18 years ago I have never relapsed into that same condition again. In fact I have only had two to three colds since then and when they came on I immediately took the viral immune remedy to fight it. Even when I would be exposed to someone that was coughing, sneezing, or had a runny nose I would take a small dose to prevent a cold from coming on. It really worked. I had never been a believer in natural medicine and did not know much about it but now I am a true believer. After my positive experience with natural medicine I became more familiar with Dr. Goldsten's practice and methods. I found out that when she started in the health profession she first was educated as a nurse and then studied many natural health methods after that. I think her background in conventional medicine causes her to be a natural practitioner that is aware of both methods in health care; therefore, she sees health care in a realistic manner. She is not against conventional medicine but augments its care."

Date: 1/30/2011 10:03:17 PM. "My Fight with Arthritis Natural Medicine Helped Me I was in my 60's and was getting more and more pain in the knuckles of my hands. I eventually went to see a doctor at an arthritis and rheumatism medical facility. They showed me that I had osteoarthritis and then prescribed Celebrex. This worked fine almost immediately but within a short span of a few months the length of help from the pills became less and less. I went to see Dr. Victoria Goldsten, an integrative homeopath, at the Washington Institute of Natural Medicine to see about a natural remedy because of the lack of time support of the Celebrex and because of the rumors that I had heard concerning its side effects. Dr. Goldsten gave me an herbal combination formula called joint support. I took it conjointly with the Celebrex for one month. The joint support in the morning and the Celebrex at bedtime. Dr. Goldsten told me not to take them at the same time. After that time period I dropped the Celebrex all together and have had less pain to endure and have needed less quantity of the joint support formula. The joint support formula has vitamins and herbs in it such as zinc and sea cucumber. It is a fantastic formula and I plan to continue using it.

Date: 12/9/2012 2:35:45 PM. "I first met Dr. Goldsten while I was a volunteer at Community Hospices where her people came in to help. I had lost my husband, and, the hospice provided a bereavement group with various people who used different healing methods. For the past several years I have been a regular for energy work and homeopathy. I also did three regression sessions with her which was very, hard work, but, worth it. I have to say a great big "thank you" for all that I have learned in this time. I did not realize it at first, but, I was in class at school again."

Lymph Edema and Neck Cancer Client
Date: 7/14/2015 12:25:02 AM. "I contacted Dr. Goldsten for Lymphatic Drainage when my mother was terminally ill with malignant neck cancer. She had disfiguring lymph edema. The edema caused her so much pain that she would cry frequently. After each treatment she felt relief and asked her to come back several times per week. Dr. Goldsten was nice enough to make house calls for my mother. I am very grateful for the work she did for that terrible time in my mother's life. Her visits were the highlight of my mother's day."
Vision Restored
Date: 7/27/2015 1:08:30 PM. "I had traveled overseas and suddenly started to lose my vision. I became legally blind. I went to several specialists when I came back to the DC metro area and they said there was nothing they could do. Knowing this I decided to try natural health care and visited Dr. Goldsten. She put me on homeopathic formulas. Within two weeks my vision was 90% returned to normal. I am now a firm believer in natural health care and homeopathy."
Arthritis Client
Date: 10/3/2015 5:34:23 PM. "I first met Dr. Goldsten at her old Cleveland Park location. I walked in to her office using a cane because my knees were so bad. My medical doctor told me I needed knee replacement surgery. I was afraid and did not want to have the surgery. I asked Dr. Goldsten if she could help me. I was happy to hear that she was able to do so. She did a natural health care exam and recommended homeopathic drops and a cream. Within a matter of two months I stopped using the cane. The pain had stopped. My joints were actually healing and rebuilding. Every day I was getting better and better. I never had the surgery. Thank you Dr. Goldsten"

Date: 7/15/2016 12:46:51 PM. "I saw Dr. Goldsten, a natural practitioner, after suffering with horrible depression and anxiety for months. It began during my pregnancy and my OB prescribed me strong depression medications which would likely have caused side effects to my unborn baby. I went doctor to doctor, therapist to therapist to try to 'cure' myself. Finally, I stumbled upon Dr. Goldsten. She had the friendliest demeanor and was very understanding. She quickly did a full natural checkup and stated I had a lot of inflammation. She recommended for me natural, homeopathic remedies for my condition. I took those remedies for several weeks (NOTE: I felt a HUGE difference within the first week). During this entire time, Dr. Goldsten was very responsive and accessible by phone, e-mail, or in person consults. She is extremely knowledgeable. I regularly refer her to people and have her on speed dial in case I need to see her again. THANK YOU DR. GOLDSTEN. Without you, I would still be sitting in my room, staring at the wall, full of anxiety and depression."

Stress Adaptive Physical Exam
Is Your Body's Inability To Manage Stress Causing Your Physical Illness? 90 min initial exam $140; 60 min follow-up $95
Everyone experiences stressful events however
our individual capabilities to manage stress varies. Humans have adapted glands, system and organs that help us to manage our life circumstances. However, if these organs are not functioning to capacity, illness may ensue. In my practice, I have noticed that by identifying my patient's areas of weakness to the stress response, I am able to reduce or eliminate illness such as recurrent headaches, chronic muscle pain, anxiety, depression, recurrent colds, insomnia, unwanted weight retention, hair loss, skin conditions, hormonal imbalances and many more
Stress adaptive exam
When you come in for an exam, I will perform a traditional physical that you may receive in your medical doctor's office. In addition, I will utilize: manual adrenal testing, manual thyroid exam, muscle testing, bio-feedback, and a detailed nutritional exam by observing your skin, nails, eyes and tongue to determine the cause of your illness
Treatment options
Once we determine the cause, we can select the treatment and eliminate the symptoms. Some of the treatment options I employ include vitamins to support your adrenals, amino acid therapy, manual therapy (similar to a chiropractic adjustment), nutritional counseling, Reiki healing, and bio-feedback training
Education And Background:
From the age of 5 growing up in Georgetown Guyana, I knew I was going to be a doctor and would follow in my grandmothers footsteps who was a healer.
In the later part of 1995, my family and I were afforded the opportunity to immigrated to the United states which allowed me a better opportunity to achieve my dreams. In 2004, I completed my Bachelors of Science from Howard University. Simultaneously, I attended Heritage Institute where I studied massage and body work receiving my national certificate in massage therapy. Shortly thereafter, I attended American University obtaining a Master's of science degree. I worked as a massage therapist during this period and while I was a gifted therapist, I knew I was not following my destiny fully. I therefore applied and was accepted to many schools and just as I was ready to accept my admittance to Howard University, I was introduced to and fell in love with Naturopathic medicine. For me, Naturopathic medicine just fit my views of a positive approach to health. It allows me to maintain the hands on approach to healing that my massage practice afforded me while giving me more opportunities to address disease in my community. Therefore in 2007 I enrolled at The National College of Natural Medicine, the oldest Naturopathic medical school in the USA and received a Doctorate in Natural Medicine followed by a residency at True North Medical clinic in Santa Rosa California in 2012
I love the medicine that I practice and I am thankful that my job is my passion.
I pride myself as standing on the forefront of "wisdom medicine" - traditional, wisdom tested medicine with scientific basis

Dr. Robert White, DIM, LMT - Manual Therapy
Manual Therapy (MT) is an alternative medicine technique practiced by practitioners with advanced training in manual therapy.
The types of practitioners that offer Manual Therapy are Nurses, Acupuncturists, Chiropractors, and Massage Therapists. MT focuses on the underlying ligaments and soft tissues in the musculo-skeletal system. MT is a method of evaluation that promotes healing in damaged connective tissue (soft tissue) thereby relieving pain and dysfunction. Manual Therapy includes mobilization movements designed to promote proper movement and function to the musculo-skeletal system. In MT the practitioner focus in on correcting structural imbalances associated with the musculo-skeletal system. Soft tissue pain, if not properly evaluated and treated can have a negative effect on other areas of the body
The cause of musculo-skeletal pain and stiffness can be due to depletion of suppleness in the affected connective tissue (soft tissue) due to poor posture
epetitive movements, trauma, general wear and tear, or a combination of these items. The resultant damage to the connective tissue can contribute to chronic conditions such as headaches, numbness, tingling, sciatica, joint pains, back pain, tendonitis, fibromyalgia, insomnia, low energy, irritability, and much more. Pain and stiffness originating in the connective tissue (soft tissues) can be successfully treated with a manual therapy approach
MT tends to be slightly more aggressive than massage therapy
but not as forceful as the chiropractic adjustment, or osteopathic manipulation. A typical MT session lasts from 30 to 60 minutes. In MT the evaluation begins with a history of the complaint, as well as a postural evaluation. Manual Therapy practitioners utilize physical methods to manage musculo-skeletal and soft tissue related pain. The physical methods include hands-on techniques such as acupressure, reflexology, myo-skeletal alignment, orthopedic massage, mobilization, trigger point therapy, heat, cold, exercise and posture training
MT assists in healing and pain reduction with athletes, dancers, joggers, corporate workers, professionals, health care professionals and many more.
In a manual therapy assessment the practitioner looks at the client's posture
performs a functional assessment as necessary, evaluates the condition of the soft tissues and then performs the manual therapy treatment. Within the treatment process the client may be requested to put on a hospital gown, undress a particular area of the body that needs attention, or to just simply wear comfortable clothing such as sports attire, yoga pants or sweat suits. It is always important to come to a treatment session in comfortable clothing

Date: 4/8/2011 10:11:07 AM. "Well folks, I would like to start by thanking the Washington Institute of Natural Medicine for providing such a great service in Natural Health, and to you Robert White. I recently twisted/extended my ankle in a sport activity while on vacation...Bummer! However, to my return to the District I decided to call the Institute to have my foot checked out and treated. I chose Robert White to evaluate it along with advice on how to treat the injury. Prior to seeing Robert I was limping and my ankle was rotated outward. After one treatment my ankle was alligned and I was walking straght. Robert is highly effective with his hands and knowledge of the body and muscle tissue. In closing I would recommend him to anyone who has muscle aches, pains, and/or just needing a massage from stress. Robert White is the Best Massage Therapist you need to see."
Treatment of Leg Pain
Date: 5/8/2011 12:35:21 AM. "I dropped by at the Washington Institute of Natural Medicine and I met Dr. Victoria Goldsten. I told her about a pain I was having from my hip down my leg. I had seen my MD and a chiropractor but I still needed help. Dr. Goldsten did a natural health care exam and recommended natural medicines for my nerves and she also recommended that I see Robert White for Orthopedic Massage. I decided to follow her recommendation and I am glad I did. Just after one treatment my pain was gone. When I do too much and my pain comes back I have a visit with Robert. He is great!!"
Terri C
Date: 5/8/2011 3:11:30 AM. "have been into sports all of my life, and have experienced my share of injuries as well as surgeries. Now that I am well into my adulthood, I attempt to stay active by participating in weekend sports. Now I experience chronic muscle soreness in my lower back and hip areas. I was seeking a massage therapist who is knowledgeable of the human anatomy and muscle functions. I surfed the net and found Robert White at the Washington Institute of Natural Medicine. He not only worked the soreness away on the first visit; he also performed a postural analysis on me that illustrated where the possible source of my soreness and pain was originating. Robert advised me on the proper footwear to use, and offered me a stretching regiment. I now feel more agile and flexible without soreness or pain. I told her that my husband was having lower back pain and that I was having problems in my neck. She informed me that Robert was available for posture analysis, functional assessment, myoskeletal alignment, and a couples massage class. I was quite happy that he offred so many things. I decided to give it a try. The assessment, bodywork, and the class was fantastic. Robert is very knowledgeble. It was a great experience."

Date: 2/29/2012 1:24:19 AM. "I recently purchased a groupon for a couples massage workshop. It was a great deal. I must say I had judgements going into such a setting, not knowing what to expect. When My fiance and I arrived at the Washington Institute of Natural Medicine, we were greeted with warm smiles and a sense of compassion from the staff. There were also two other couples in the workshop. Robert White, LMT was a fabulous instructor. We had our private room, and he also catered the practical portion of the workshop to our specific physcical concerns. (He even showed me an alternative move to do while I was on the bed) that made it easy on my back. He provided a safe and comfortable space for us to exercise our creativity which elevated the joy of our experience. After the practical portion was completed Robert spent several minutes gathering feedback from us. He is professional who is open to doing whatever it requires for the client to create the most favorable experience possible. My fiance and I both recommend Robert White, LMT for Teaching massage and pain reduction. We like him so much we each purchased a three pack of orthopedic massage, and you should too!"

Date: 7/16/2012 2:44:51 PM. "I' m a avid workout nut. 49yrs old and for the last 8 yrs have been a chronic pain sufferer. Due to a series of weight lifting and jujuitsu sparring accidents. Dispite the efforts of 10+ practioners comprising (physical therapist, chiropractors, orthropedic specialist) no decerniable relief was at hand. Until the effort of Robert white and a very special physical trainer I was doomed to be morphed into a sunken mass of pain. With Robert's complete understanding of trigger point therapy, coupled with his innate ability to listen. The constant tension which resulted in muscle fatique has all but gone. Where there was numbness, subble mass has started to form. Allowing me to once again function without the effects of pain aversion. "
Carolyn and Zack
Date: 4/7/2013 12:37:05 PM. "We came for the couple's massage and thoroughly enjoyed our experiences. Dr. White and Ms. Tigabe were warm, funny, and professional practitioners with superior understanding of trigger points and the human body. We felt cared for and positively radiant for the rest of the day. We would highly recommend this experience."

Date: 1/23/2014 2:10:41 PM. "Dear Dr. White, I just wanted to reach out to you and tell you how wonderful I have been. I wanted the opportunity to come back and see you again, but you healed me so well that I really don't have any need for your gift any more! :) When I saw you I was in a lot of pain, of which you helped and aided so much in my healing. It was an experience like no other, it wasn't easy and in fact the letting go of tension and bad habits in my muscles was at times quiet painful, but you so skillfully walked me through that tight rope and my body hasn't been the same ever since. It's been almost two months since I've seen you and, I have had great mobility, been working out, have lost 10 pounds and have renewed energy. As well, I was looking to work in Maternal Health in Zambia and I also got that position I was hoping for! I know that your magic helped me get there as well. I hope you had a blessed holiday season and know you've made a tremendous difference in my life, and are a real healer. :)"

Date: 2/9/2015 12:47:03 AM. "On Wednesday, February 4th I have a Body Work Session with Dr. Robert White. I came in with a terrible pain in my neck. Immediately after my arrival, Dr. Robert evaluated me and proceeded to make it better. What a difference after my therapy! I have been able to go back to my regular routine after my treatment. Thank you Dr. Robert! Helena F "

Date: 8/27/2015 10:08:38 AM. "I've been getting massages on a regular basis for over 10 years and have see upwards of 50 masseuses and massage therapists. Dr. Robert is far and away the best I've encountered. His techniques are slightly unconventional compared to the standard massage you'd receive in a spa, but they are immensely effective and also extremely relaxing. Whether you're looking for a one-off massage or routine appointments, Dr. Robert is the best you can get! I don't live in the DC area but Dr. Robert is so good that I will certainly be booking appointments to see him in advance of any trips to the region. "

Date: 9/21/2015 6:57:24 PM. "My first massage from Dr. White was amazing. I had been living with pain in my shoulder for a month and battling issues with my hips. After one session, I can feel a difference. My shoulder feels better, and thanks to Dr. White's knowledge of anatomy, I have a better sense of my hip issue. Dr. White is knowledgable and personable; if my friends are looking for a massage therapist, I will definitely recommend Dr. White."

Jessica N. Hardy, FNP - IV Nutrient Therapy
offered by Harmony in Health/MedOnCall
What is IV Nutrient Therapy?
Introductory Offer!!!! Free IV Vitamin Infusion with purchase of Wellness Physical and Labs ($90 value). Available: December 26th, 27th and January
Nutritional Intravenous (IV) Therapy is the administration of vitamins
minerals, and/or antioxidants directly into the bloodstream to detoxify the body and correct underlying nutritional deficiencies. Patients traditionally consume nutrients in food or pill form. However, circumstances sometimes warrant a more effective delivery of nutrients into the body. Because IV therapy bypasses the digestive system, nutrients are delivered quicker and in optimal concentrations directly to the diseased or nutritionally deficient cells of the body
Although it is recently popular in the media
IV nutrient therapy has been around for decades in the acute care/hospital setting but it was first used in primary care by Dr. Meyers, a physician in Baltimore, MD. He used it to successfully treat his patients with a wide array of medical problems for 25 years. The most notable IV Vitamin Blend, the "Meyer's Cocktail" is named after him. The Meyer's Cocktail is a vitamin blend of Vitamin B Complex, Magnesium, Vitamin C and Calcium
High Dose Vitamin C, and Glutathione (potent antioxidants)
as well as the Meyer's Vitamin Cocktail will soon be offered at the Washington Institute of Natural Medicine
Whether you want to recover from an illness faster
keep an illness from taking hold, or if you simply want to have better endurance or are looking for overall better health, IV nutrition can help. In addition to helping acutely ill or chronically ill people, IV nutrition can also help athletes to improve performances and speed recovery
There are many benefits and very little risk from IV nutrition.

BK Mudahar, L. Ac. - Facial Rejuvenation
One Hour Session: $95; Three Treatment Package: $270 (Each Session - $90); Six Treatment Package: $510 (Each Session - $85)
Facial Rejuvenation can be completed in a variety of ways.
The treatment can be completed through light touch/energy work, acupressure, acupuncture, and electro-dermal stimulation. The treatment session can use one method or may combine many methods together. Facial Rejuvenation aims to correct the signs of aging through direct treatment of the skin and by treating the underlying causes
Facial Rejuvenation helps to improve muscle tone and contraction especially in the face and neck.
It has been shown to increase collagen production and aid in its dispersal thereby helping to firm the skin and fill out wrinkles. Bags and sagging around the eyes, face, and neck can be significantly reduced and toned. Metabolism is greatly improved through these treatments, resulting in reduced puffiness around the eyes. Facial Rejuvenation can profoundly effect the regulation of hormones in the body, conditions like acne and overly dry skin can be quite improved because it uses the powerful points within the acupuncture meridian systems. It substantially increases the circulation of blood, lymph, and qi to the head, in addition the treatments improve the complexion noticeably. Healthy facial coloring can be restored and there can be a tightening of the pores. Stress and expression lines are transformed resulting in a remarkably younger, calmer, and less worn looking face. Inner beauty, vitality and serenity are very obvious visual benefits that will manifest in the appearance. Often many pre-existing health conditions are cleared up because acupuncture points work by treating the whole body and addressing the underlying causes of aging and disease
The effects of Facial Rejuvenation can last for years with regularly scheduled maintenance treatments.

Sinus Relief Client
Date: 3/1/2008 1:33:31 PM. "I heard about BK from a friend. I decided to go and see her for sinus pressure. I have had that problem for many years and nothing seemed to work. After having acupuncture I started to feel much better. Now when I get sinus problems I see BK and I feel better just after one treatment."
Joyce Carter
Date: 4/4/2008 8:34:18 PM. "I highly recommend the acupuncture and acupressure expertise of B.K. Mudahar. For the last two years I had gone to B.K. for acupuncture too relieve joint pains and improve healthy energy flow and circulation and open sinuses from allergies/colds. At the dose of B.K.'s acupuncture followed by acupressure, I feel great relief and definite increase in energy. Following a fall she helped greatly with the healing of bruised, aching areas. She is highly skilled. I heartely recommend her."
Victoria Huckenpahler
Date: 2/9/2011 6:44:43 PM. "One may place oneself with perfect confidence in the healing hands of BK Mudihar. Having benefitted from her skill for many years, I can attest that it is in the first rank. From the moment one enters BK's treatment room, one is enveloped in the nurturing atmosphere she creates, and as the session progresses she is able literally to rub out of one's body all traces of tension and inner unease. Though one may have arrived hopelessly frazzled, one inevitably emerges with inner harmony restored and circulation flowing unobstructedly. Further, BK appears to reach deeply into her own psychic resources to connect with the client at a level from which she can intuit, without one's needing to verbalize it, the parts of one's body most needing attention. Speaking for myself, I find her treatment is able to reconnect me with my innate serenity while stimulating an energy that remains high for days after. BK is also a skilled acupuncturist, qualified to apply the needles when she feels that modality would be the one most helpful. I was impressed with BK's skills from the outset, but the experience has grown more rewarding as ensuing years have increased her knowledge of my personal body-mind idiosyncrasies. In short, BK Mudihar is a wizard in her field, and I cannot recommend her mental and physical ministrations highly enough. "

Ms. B.
Date: 8/25/2011 10:18:09 PM. "Carol's work of channeling the energy that can only be received by divine intervention has greatly touched my life and helped to heal my soul. Her compassion and connection with God helped renew my energy and connection with the higher power. Personally I went through very angry periods, where I allowed my resentment to block me from receiving the abundance that God has for me. It was by working with Carol as a healer and friend that I was able to see that I needed to trust God and get out of my own way. During one particular Reiki therapy session the energy that she was channeling was so powerful, I felt as if my body weighed about 1000 pounds. When the session was complete I was overcome with a multitude of feelings, but what my soul was finally telling me was that God was there with me....that I wasn't alone. To anyone who would want to work with Carol, I can tell you that her expertise, compassion, and inspiration from God shine through in every way. She is a wonderful blessing to have had enter my life, and for that I am grateful. - Ms. B."

Date: 8/27/2011 10:10:42 PM. "When Carol first prayed for my kidney stone, her hand heated up so much I thought she was going to burn me. I saw her for several healings. When I returned to the doctor to get tested, my kidney stone was gone. - Dr. Charles Warfield"

Date: 8/27/2011 10:23:09 PM. "We have seen Carol Richardson only 3 times for Couples Intuitive Life Coaching, and even after the first visit, she made a profound impact on our lives; as a couple, definitely, but as individuals as well. We had been to a traditional couple's counselor, who charged us a lot of money, only to spend 4 sessions asking about our childhoods and then making judgements about us that were way off the mark. In our first session with the gentle, loving, non-judgmental Carol, she helped us see things about ourselves that we had never known before, or didn't know how to express. She was spot-on. She is an incredibly intuitive person, whose gentle energy puts you at ease immediately. Her positive, love-centered, solution-oriented approach is amazing. I actually look forward to our sessions, and the growth and loving understanding that results."
L.J.C.
Date: 5/9/2012 8:14:04 PM. "after being approached about an energy therapy healing session with Carol, I contemplated for a while then accepted with one thought in mind-all healing energy is good energy-let's just see what happens. Not knowing what to expect, Carol sat down with me and asked what areas in particular I wanted to focus on to which I replied "relationships, job, and finances." as I lay on the table, she sent healing energy to me via hand techniques. After the healing session, I noticed a calmness , but nothing too significant. The next day, I almost froze in my tracks as I came to the realization that I no longer had a nagging pain in my knee from a knee injury that occurred two months prior. I guess I was learning to "live with the pain" which was at times excruciating. It was then I began to appreciate the gift of healing that Carol has. To this day every now and then I still get a "tinge" in that knee (like when the bus driver drove like a mad man causing the bus to jerk and sway) causing me to nearly lose my balance. Otherwise, I am still pain free. Thank you Carol for the gift of "light and love" "
Caroline B.
Date: 10/16/2013 3:16:35 PM. "Carol is an amazing practitioner with whom I've experienced tremendous success with. I first sought out Carol for life coaching and management of stress and anxiety. Carol helped me through the tough times with compassionate ears, words of wisdom, and her ability to help me see "the bigger picture". I was able to set goals, see my life through a clearer (and more beautiful) lens, and enjoy the present again! I highly recommend Carol and her multitude of offerings."

Life Coach
Certified Reiki Master
Acupressure Practitioner
Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist
David R. McCrady, CPC, CRM, ACH - Flyer
David McCrady has been offering wellness services since 1995. His first health care experience was under the tutelage of Dr. Victoria Goldsten in her home based holistic health care business called Natural Self Care. In that setting David offered Reiki and Hypnotherapy. David has studied and received certificates in: Life Coaching, Reiki, Acupressure, and Hypnotherapy. He has lectured to many local groups on a variety of topics emphasizing natural treatments in conjunction with Dr. Goldsten. David has consulted with and treated clients at the Washington Institute of Natural Medicine's Maryland and Washington, D.C. locations
Life Coaching
David is a Certified Professional Coach with the privilege and responsibility of mentoring, empowering, and motivating his clients to identify their goals, develop plans, and continue on their path to self-improvement. The sessions can be individuals, couples, multi-person, or group settings
Acu-Reiki
David uses acupressure combined with Reiki. Oriental acupressure uses light to moderate pressure which is applied to points along the energy meridians with the thumb, fingers, palms, forearms and elbows. Acupressure helps to bring the body into balance. Reiki is a touch therapy method that uses chi (energy) to bring balance and improve health. It is the study of healing that directs the body's energy via spiritual or universal energy depending on the belief systems of the practitioner and client. The practitioner applies a light touch to the client. This approach to energy healing connects with the subtle energy of life to feed and balance the body's own subtle energy system. At times intuitive abilities may be used during a session. David uses this therapy combination to balance energy systems, provide relaxation, and support health. It also works on the energy systems to clear blockages and helps put the body back in balance
Hypnosis
Hypnotherapy helps individuals quit habits that they no longer want. Smoking, weight loss, and anxiety are some of the most asked about, but hypnosis can be a help to stop any bad habit. During hypnosis, the client may experience a trance state that is similar to meditation or a light sleep. In this state, the conscious mind is relaxed so that the subconscious mind can take in the thoughts and suggestions that the client wishes to happen. The subconscious mind controls habits and is aware of everything that is happening around the client during the session. The first session for hypnosis is usually an hour and a half

Laura Boyle, MPH, CRP
Certified Reflexologist
Certified Reiki Practitioner
Chakra Balancer
Laura Boyle, MPH, CRP - Flyer
Services
Reflexology
The principles of reflexology embody techniques designed to keep the body's systems operating at peak efficiency. Providing gentle pressure along points in the feet can help achieve balance in the body by normalizing the function of the internal organs and stimulating the body's natural healing process
Reiki
Provides a special kind of healing energy that can only be channeled by someone that has been attuned to it. The Reiki energy enters the practitioner through the top of the head and exits through the hands, being directed into the body or energy field of the recipient. Reiki is a very subtle form of healing and may be done through clothing and without any physical contact between practitioner and client. This gentle healing method is complementary to any other therapy
Chakra Balancing
The chakras are energy stations that can hold negative or positive energy. Seven major chakras have been distinguished, however a chakra may appear anywhere fresh energy is required or in an area of the body that has been injured. Clearing the chakras involves a hands-off technique of waving over each chakra, and having the energy follow the direction of the hand. In this way, each chakra layer begins to spin in the same direction, removing energy blocks and allowing fresh energy in. Specific hand movements act as magnets, pulling out stagnant energy and reharmonizing each chakra. This is a deep healing technique

Reiki: $75 per session = 90 minutes
Hypnotherapy
Enter an altered state of awareness and overcome physical or psychological 'blockages'. Eliminate fears & phobias, anxiety, sleep disorders, stress, and pain. Use this altered state to tackle a range of conditions such as weight issues, smoking addiction, and more
Reiki
Apply this ancient healing technique based on 'universal life force' energy - a safe, gentle and holistic power that balances out body-mind equations - and enhance your body's natural power to heal itself
Past Life Regression
Recover memories of 'past lives' or simply enjoy vivid fantasies painted by your mind to help ease physical and emotional pain. Undergoing this experience can help eliminate the roots of your current fears and phobias
Chakra Balancing
Childhood traumas, bad habits, and injuries can block the body's 'chakras' or nodes of activity that regulate its physical and emotional processes. Chakra balancing can 'clean' these nodes, helping you regain optimum mind-body functionality
Sujok Therapy
In Sujok therapy, palm and foot represent all the organs/meridians in the body. Enjoy a stimulating 'acupressure' on your hands and feet to cure various kinds of illnesses! Combine this with Seed Therapy, where one can tie seeds, pulses and legumes at desired points to supply extra life force to facilitate quick healing. Greengrams, kidney beans and peas are frequently used for treatment
Inner Child Healing
Our 'inner child' is often the one preventing us from enjoying life to its fullest as it leads the mind unconsciously reacting to emotional wounds inflicted during the course of childhood until puberty. Inner Child healing helps release grief as well as its associated pent-up rage, shame, terror, and pain

He taught and guided me to take better care of myself from a body, mind, and spiritual track. Today I know what to do naturally to deal with my ailments and pain, which have all decreased considerably and are now manageable. I was able to refocus my priorities and make major changes in my life besides exercise and nutrition. I am now strong enough to travel overseas this year. "Suffering is a corrective to point out a lesson which by other means we have failed to grasp, and never can it be eradicated until that lesson is learnt." Dr. Edward Bach
About Me
I am a Bach Foundation Registered Practitioner (BFRP) with 15+ years of experience using Bach Flower remedies, and Metaphysical approaches to achieving optimal health. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a certificate in Holistic Health Care which is recognized by the American Naturopathic and Holistic Association. My holistic practice of health and healing is also grounded in the philosophy that physical ailments can be linked to mental causes, and through achieving balanced thought patterns, one can reverse illnesses and create optimal health and happiness
Metaphysical Intuitive Consultations
Each session typically starts with what is on a client's mind. We then explore the interconnectivity between one's current situation and the evolution of one's higher self. We gently move through any blockages, patterns, habits, or energetic imbalances that may be limiting one's ability to move forward pain free and with ease. We discuss detailed solutions and strategies on how to rewire any negative emotional/thought patterns connected to the root cause of one's well-being. Based on the teachings of self-help authors, such as, Louise Hay, Carolyn Myss, and Norman Shealy, I provide clients with insight and offer intriguing alternative approaches to self-awareness and optimal health. "Disease is in essence the result of conflict between Soul and Mind, and will never be eradicated except by spiritual and mental effort." Dr. Edward Bach
About Bach Flower Essences
In the early 1930s, Dr. Edward Bach, who was a physician, surgeon, homeopath, bacteriologist, and immunologist created the Bach Flower therapeutic system. In his role as a physician, he realized that his patients' physical diseases and ailments were exacerbated by their mental and emotional states. Dr. Bach discovered that when he treated the mental and emotional states of his patients with the Bach Flower essences, the natural healing potential in their bodies were restored and their physical ailments, imbalances, and unhappiness were alleviated
Bach Flower remedies
Bach Flower remedies help to balance the full range of human emotions and mental states that surround situations and circumstances involving:
Fear
Anxiety
Uncertainty
Despair
Worry

Bach Flower Consultations
Initial consultations are generally 90 minutes. Follow-up consultations are usually 60 minutes. Educational Tutoring
One of the advantages of personalized tutoring over the kind of education offered by schools is the recognition of the fact that every student is different. I begin my tutoring programs with thorough evaluations of the student in order to tackle the student's need for tutoring. I don't view the student who is struggling or failing as wrong or bad. For me, failing grades or difficulties in learning are seen as nothing more than using the wrong techniques to teach concepts. I design an individual approach to help the child/teenager/adult grasp the concepts in an easy manner compared to other methods. To be more specific, I will design a program that aims directly at the student's needs. Guesswork and a hit-or-miss approach can be harmful to a student who is already challenged by academic issues and who has had negative educational experiences. I offer tutoring services for any individual from elementary school to college level. I also tutor Spanish as a second language for those who are taking it as course work

Natural Health Care Nurse
Camilla Easley, RN, CRP, CAP - Natural Health Care Nurse
Natural health care therapies are making a strong resurgence and its philosophical basis has much in common with nursing theories.
Natural health care has its origins in Hippocratic medicine and the nature cure, and its re-emergence during the Victorian era during the renewal of interest in health. As reflected in Florence Nightingale's writings the nature cure movement influenced her thinking. Contemporary nursing theories are consistent with natural health care principles in many ways, and a connection between the two disciplines is more relevant today
Continuing education and fundamentals in nursing education reflects holistic concepts within its curriculum.
Grounded in the work of Florence Nightingale, nursing education prepares students to meet the holistic needs of their patients. Holism is a major component of the organizational goals of the American Holistic Certification Corporation, American Naturopathic and Holistic Association, and the American Holistic Nurses' Association
"Florence Nightingale recognized the importance of caring for the whole person and encouraged interventions that enhanced individuals' abilities to draw upon their own healing powers.
She considered touch, light, aromatics, empathetic listening, music, quiet reflection, and similar healing measures as essential ingredients to good nursing care."[1] "Nightingale transformed the poorly ventilated, vermin-infested Barrack Hospital in Scutari into a clean, well-managed facility, and within six months the death rate fell from 40 to 2 percent."[2]
Nightingale's methods were parallel to Arnold Rikli's (1823-1906) who was a lay practitioner, using nature cure theories.
He added the use of fresh air and sunlight to the water cure. He has been quoted to say: "Water is good; air is better, but light is best of all." In addition, she also had similar beliefs to Father Sebastian Kneipp (1821-1897) who also practiced the nature cure and published My Water Cure. Kneipp primarily used water therapy and herbal remedies. He also recommended a simple nourishing diet, exercise, and fresh air. Kneipp was a priest who asked for a different life. He did not ask for better pills but rather the active patient who was a partner with the practitioners in the healing process
In 1859 Florence Nightingale published two books Notes on Hospital and Notes on Nursing which discussed hygienic nursing.
The books advocated the hygienic reform of hospitals. Nightingale wrote: "I use the word nursing for want of a better. It has been limited to signify little more than the administration of medicines and the application of poultices. It ought to signify the proper use of fresh air, light, warmth, cleanliness, quiet, and the proper selection and administration of diet -all at the least expense of vital power to the patient." This vital power and her stress on hygiene, fresh air and diet taps into the natural recuperative powers of the body and thereby created the beginnings of the natural health care movement
The Maryland Board of nursing published a statement in June of 2000 that permits both LPN's and RN's to practice alternative therapies.
Washington DC recognizes natural health care continuing education within the licensing renewal process. References: American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA), Position Statements, 2004.; Nursing, University of Toledo Libraries
