Vogel Prep tutors provide focused one-on-one attention, clear explanations, and expert guidance to help students start their classes ahead, get ahead, keep up, or stay ahead in their classes. It all depends on the timing of the tutoring versus the timing of the studying the material. For example, a student can start a new academic year having been tutored on a few chapters before school starts, or he can tutor when he is taking the class to keep up or get head.
Vogel Prep Offers Academic Support For
Advanced Learning
For ambitious or adventurous students who want to stay ahead of their classes or learn an entire subject in advance of taking it, Vogel Prep's Advanced Learning programs provide specific unit instruction or entire courses over the summer, which is a great way to start the academic year. We offer this kind of tutoring for AP courses, which require different study skills than regular high school courses.
Homework Help
Teachers usually base student grades on four components: homework completion, written projects, test performance, and class participation. Vogel Prep's homework help tutoring assists students in all four of these areas. Our expertly trained tutors help students master and complete their homework on time, craft high-scoring essays, prepare for tests, and feel confident and comfortable participating in class discussions. English Tutoring, Reading Tutoring - QRead - Our reading program provides techniques and tools that can be implemented for all subjects. Math Tutoring, Vocabulary Building, Science Tutoring, Foreign Language Tutoring, Science Tutoring
Remediation
One-on-one tutoring can reduce the amount of time it takes to catch up with a subject, because students can focus on specific areas of difficulty. We offer remediation assistance in all major school subjects as well as in the core areas that are tested in standardized tests such as math, reading, and writing.
Academic Enrichment
Vogel Prep provides enrichment programs that feature skill building across virtually all curriculum strands. Academic Advising, Academic Planning, College Counseling, Application Essays, Test Prep Planning
Study Skills
Not all students learn the same way.
Thus, the teaching style and approach can make a real difference depending on whether it matches a student's primary learning style. Students who are auditory learners enjoy listening activities, while the kinetic or experiential learners enjoy doing experiments or going on field trips. Visual learners prefer observing rather than talking and retain detailed information when presented in flows and charts, pictures, or diagrams.
The study environment and the kinds of activities for each type of learner has to be ideal for optimal learning
Because no two learners are exactly the same. At Vogel Prep, we start with a diagnostic assessment of how your student learns and then we develop a custom program that improves their skills in time management, organization, memorization, test taking, note taking, and problem solving. Usually, students struggling in multiple disciplines have issues because they do not study under optimal conditions or do not have tools that will help them overcome their own learning styles.
So, if any of your students bring a report card with low grades in multiple subjects
Give Vogel Prep a call and we can provide them a learning styles diagnostic. This is the first step in understanding how they learn and in determining how to help them improve their study skills. If you would like to schedule this diagnostic, please contact us or email us at info@vogelprep.com.
English Tutoring And Instruction
The ability to write well, to read well, and to summarize information from written sources has never been more important in school, in business, and in life than in today's global economy.
Writing Skills
Solid writing skills are essential at every stage of a student's education. At Vogel Prep, we remove barriers to writing success by helping students understand the range of techniques available to them to fit the assignment. For example, we teach them how to create more demonstrative titles, descriptive verbs, tasteful metaphors and personifications, and artfully appropriate alliteration and vocabulary. In doing so, we help them create masterful, memorable assignments that often earn the highest scores from teachers.
Reading Skills
Low reading comprehension is often a symptom of passive reading – that is, reading without passion or purpose. Students who take an active interest in reading materials inevitably comprehend more than students who do not. Vogel Prep provides students with reading instruction that includes active reading strategies. Vogel Prep also provides differentiated reading instruction for novels and textbooks, because understanding the method by which information is presented is pivotal in gaining an understanding of the material. To learn more about our special qualified reading program, Q-Read.
Literature
Literature is the study of writing styles and techniques used by writers to convey information across multiple formats that include fiction, fantasy, history, short story, and poetry. With literature fading in the national agenda, Vogel Prep helps pick up the slack. Vogel Prep helps students identify each format's unique style and structure to better understand the underlying message and delivery mechanism. We also teach students to understand a written work's context with respect to era, nationality, heritage, genre, and intention.
Grammar Skills
Many parents are concerned that their students don't get enough grammar instruction during the formative years and that grammar instruction then disappears altogether from view. To many students, grammar is a term that has no clear scope or definition. At Vogel Prep, we seek to remediate grammar's lost priority by making it simpler and more straightforward. Specifically, we emphasize grammar's five basic components: comparison, agreement, verb tense, diction and idioms, and word order and sentence structure. The result is grammar lessons that are memorable, beneficial, and enjoyable. This sets the tone for our path to success in high school, college, and life.
Vocabulary Building
A powerful vocabulary can help students excel throughout their academic years and into their careers. Understanding and applying the building blocks of vocabulary can propel a student to a deeper and richer appreciation of words, form the basis of powerful writing assignments, and facilitate meaningful conversations. At Vogel Prep, vocabulary instruction does not begin with memorization; it begins with a basic groundwork in the study of the origin of words known as etymology, followed by usage of the words in context. Vogel Prep's vocabulary building instruction can set your student on the path to success by generating a more powerful and appropriate lexicon for writing assignments, conversations, and interviews.
Math Solutions For Tomorrow
Vogel Prep provides math instruction that includes strategic methods of solving math problems and simplified with alternative explanations of complex topics.
The range of subjects we cover goes from basic (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing real numbers, decimals, and fractions) through intermediate (algebra, geometry, and trigonometry) to advanced (calculus and multivariable calculus). Whether your child is struggling to keep up or needs to gain a deeper understanding of complex concepts, math instruction at Vogel Prep helps your child prepare for the tests of today and meet the complex challenges that lie beyond. Vogel Prep has diagnostics that can help determine whether the problem is basic math, pre-algebra, or algebra I. We will develop a program based on your student's gaps.
Science Tutoring And Instruction
Galileo? Darwin? Einstein? Curie? Pasteur?
Science is the world's future.
While not every student is destined to be Galileo, Darwin, Einstein, Curie, or Pasteur, everyone needs to know who they were and their contributions to either astronomy, biology, physics, chemistry, or medicine. Today's elementary and middle school students will encounter courses that include Earth science, life science, and/or astronomy. So, whether your student is passionate about science or is simply just trying to get through it, Vogel Prep provides expert instruction and guidance every step of the way, from lower levels to high honors, IBs, APs, or college-level courses. Our group of scientists are either masters or P.h. Ds in their fields and have lots of teaching experience

About Our Assessments
Vogel Prep is very focused on achieving results.
We believe that each student is unique and needs a strategic plan to achieve success. In order to develop a student's plan we need to establish a baseline. To do so, we give each new student at Vogel Prep an assessment. For the current academic year, we offer diagnostic tests on the dates listed in our assessment schedule. These tests include the ACT vs SAT Comparison; PSAT, SAT, ACT, or SAT Subject Tests; or any of the graduate tests.
Schedule for Assessments
We run most practice tests on Saturday mornings as our published schedule online at: https://www.vogelprep.com/assessment-schedule. Register online at https://www.vogelprep.com/assessment-registration or contact us at info@vogelprep.com. For MindPrint, Math, Reading or Writing Assessments please schedule a 1 hour appointment with our office at 480.990.7374 or Info@vogelprep.com.
Math Skills
At Vogel Prep
We focus on first understanding the major topics that need to be strengthened in basic math, pre-algebra, algebra, or geometry to achieve mastery of these subjects. These subjects are the foundation for higher level math and science subjects. Then we develop a plan to address the issues or concerns.
Thus, if you have a student struggling in any of these subjects, let us know.
With a quick math assessment, we can determine the areas of most difficulty for your student and then we can provide reinforcement on those topics and help your student gain confidence. If you would like to schedule an evaluation, please contact us at 480-990-7374, or email us at info@vogelprep.com.
Reading Assessments
The importance of reading skills cannot be underestimated. They impact our success in school, college, and beyond. Reading skills are critical for us to learn new subjects, develop new skills, understand writers' intentions, compare and contrast facts, and determine cause and effects in observations of the materials presented to us. At Vogel Prep, our personalized one-on-one approach starts by determining what each student needs. We will evaluate students in various types of materials from a technical article to a literary piece, we will measure reading comprehension, retention of details or facts, differential understanding of opinions and inferences, and words per minute. Our goal is to determine the kind of assistance that each student needs based on our initial evaluation. If we see that the student can benefit from sharpening organizational, vocabulary, interpretation, or critical-thinking skills, then we will focus on that to improve the student's overall reading skills with our Q-Read program.
