Elixer: Dynamic Flow & Restore
A temperate class (75 degrees) that includes the ultimate combination of a dynamic flow that will clear the body of emotional and physical tension, including options to try out arm balances and inversions, then surrender into a series of yin poses (deep passive stretching) with a luxurious restorative ending.
Yoga Spa
A series of yin yoga poses will open the body into a soft stretch followed by restorative postures to allow the body to sink into a deep nourishing state of relaxation. The entire class will be guided with meditations, breathing techniques and aromatherapy essential oils that will sweetly draw you into deeper states of consciousness.
Meridian Flow Yoga
Meridian Flow Yoga is the meeting of yoga and Chinese Medicine where we will learn how to discipline our minds and bodies by exploring the energy channels called meridians through asana (yoga poses) and deep pranayama (breath work). This practice will train our minds to become very focused which allows us to feel 'Zen'; clear, calm and centered. This is especially effective for relieving anxiety, scattered brain, tension, and many chronic physical ailments. The disciplined mind is a happy calm centered mind, the disciplined body is healthy and vibrant. Come learn how to achieve both.
Alignment Flow
So often in flow classes our alignment takes the back seat. This class helps us refine the alignment in poses, focusing on individual body parts, so we can move and stay in poses safely. This class is suitable for beginners to advanced students.
Core Flow
Your core holds a treasure trove of passion, creativity, gut wisdom and when strong, helps us feel centered and spacious. Unfortunately there is often lots of taboo around this area. It is also a place where we hold shame, insecurities, and internalize our stress. In this class, you will start to build a new relationship to your core. Bring sensation and compassion to this vulnerable area, giving it the attention it needs for you to live from gut instinct. This is a Forrest Yoga-inspired class. Forrest Yoga is known for it's attention to deep breathing and unique and deep abdominal work which is crucial for supporting your spine and building self-confidence. In this class, you will 100% feel your core in new ways and use that connection to create lightness in your poses and your life. Come, sweat, embrace your belly! ALL LEVELS WELCOME
Sacred Sunday Flow
This slow flow will be held with reverence as we'll be dedicating our practice for the benefit for others. 10% of the profits will be donated to Women for Women International, supporting women and their families in war torn countries. http://www.womenforwomen.org/ We will breathe deep with them in mind and sweat, stretch and flow with long holds in poses to sink in deeply. Slow flow doesn't mean 'easy' flow, as it is more challenging to go slow, but much safer, therefore suitable for all levels.
Warm Yin
Enjoy long held passive poses in a cozy warm room, that will provide a deep stretch and release. In yin yoga, we are releasing the fascia tissues as well as the muscles, where a lot of long held tension resides (our issues are held in our tissues!). This class is so good for the nervous system as we learn to stay and hold poses, release stress, breathe deeply and find a serene inner peace.
Acro Yoga Class
AcroYoga is a partner yoga practice with a base, who is lying on their back, and a flyer, who is supported by the base's hands and/or feet. You will leave with enough knowledge to take the practice home in a safe and enjoyable manner. This weekly class is designed to set a solid foundation that incorporates yoga asana, strength training partner exercises, basic flying, and thai massage. Come as you are, with OR without a partner.
Meridian Flow Yoga Program
For chronic pain, anxiety and autoimmune disorders. Led by Maggie Heinzel-Neel E-RYT 500 in Zen Yoga+Qigong.
Anxiety, chronic pain, chronic fatigue and auto-immune disease deserve attention not to 'manage', but transform.
Break free from the discouragement of doctors saying 'there isn't much we can do except manage it.' There are so many of us experiencing isolation from feeling chronic anxiety, joint pain, digestive issues, grief and stress that it'll only get worst.
What to expect from participation in this group
A safe private space to learn about how to relieve anxiety, chronic pain and stiffness through Meridian Flow Yoga and Qigong.
Guided specific practices of breath work to bring your nervous system back into balance.
Meridian Flow Yoga and Qigong classes that are specific to the season and the organs that are in energetic high tide.
These practices bring an efficient flow of healing energy and ease into our body, mind and emotions.
Meditations and qigong movements infused with ancient teachings that speak to the emotions and energies which are strong in that season.
We will learn how we can transform these emotions to serve us, rather than deplete and drain us.
Outline of Meridian Flow Program
Weekly 30 min Emotional Hygiene group call of meditation/breath work/journaling.
Review diet
what foods work, which don't? Observe how you feel 30-60 minutes after you eat, do you feel drained, irritable or tired? Or do you feel well balanced and nourished?
3-4 Meridian Flow classes per week.
Monthly 'The Great Discussion'
Yoga + group discussion class focusing on specific philosophical texts that will be woven into the class and discussed afterwards on how these teachings reflect in our current life.
Seasonal 1:1 call
A 30 minute 1:1 call to address mindset and progress.
This program is for a year, to experience all 5 seasons and the energy that is related to that season, element, organs, emotions and mindset
It can be broken down into seasons as well, each season is 10 weeks, as we are working with the 5 seasons related to Chinese Medicine.
This program will count towards CEC's that are required to maintain professional licensure.
What past participants have said
Dear Maggie, I just wanted to say thank you so much for an amazing program.
I have struggled with autoimmune arthritis (rheumatoid type) and fibromyalgia since the birth of my daughter 19 years ago. I have constant low to mid level pain that flares up badly whenever I get a cold or get stressed. I've had a lot of sadness and turmoil in my life over the past decade, throughout all of it, my joint pain has always "added insult to injury", making me feel sad and hopeless. Nowadays things are a lot easier for me, but I do have constant residual pain and exhaustion that sets me apart from most other healthy people. I also have celiac disease :(. I have tried every medication, from steroids to methotrexate but all the side effects are terrible. Finally I saw a rheumatologist who suggested I look into tai chi. I decided to instead develop a yoga practice and go on an antioxidant rich diet.
I tried several yoga places but Vitality is the one for me.
When I learned that you were offering the Meridian Flow program, I was very hopeful, because I really found that it eases my chronic pain.
The Meridian Flow program has made my life better on a number of levels.
I can't describe what a relief it is to know that I can actually heal myself with the kind of practices you taught us. I can feel a difference in my joints, in my mind and in my heart. Thank you SO MUCH. - JG.
From MKG
My consistent yoga practice over many years really started to turn things around with my auto immune issues, but it wasn't until I started practicing Meridian Flow Yoga that it all came together. I knew that my symptoms of my flare-ups always started in the fall of every year. I became familiar with the concepts of traditional Chinese Medicine and the theory of the natural flow of the seasons and the elements and organs of the body that correspond to this natural flow. I realized, thanks to Maggie's guidance, that the fall season corresponds to the metal element, the lungs, large intestine, and the skin!!! Breathwork up and down the meridians with laser-like mental focus and awareness, while moving the body in yoga poses that Maggie synchronizes with the breath and mind to physically stimulate the fascia chain around these meridians is nothing short of brilliant! And the metal time of the year (fall) corresponds to the emotion of grief, being able to grieve adequately, process it, and ultimately to be able to let go of it. So of course the proper stimulation of these meridians to allow my qi to run smoothly will allow me to let go of my grief.
I finally understood that it's possible to sense the natural flow of nature and align with it
Realize the ever-changing dynamic of yin and yang in our lives, see it and feel it in the natural world around us. Maggie teaches us tools that help us align with awareness, breath, focus, and movements with the tao. Once we understand these tools, we can see our physical and emotional maladies as symptoms of misalignment or maladaption, and can heal ourselves.
And now my rheumatologist has prescribed weening myself off of the medication that I took for so many years!!!
Thanks for giving me this chance to share my story!
At Vitality Yoga you will find a warm and welcoming community that loves to practice yoga together. From beginners to seasoned yogis - we breathe, sweat, stretch and release tension, becoming flexible, strong, compassionate folks.
