It does seem crazy, but a handful of producers in Sicily do include Pinot Noir in their portfolios. The grape certainly does take on hot climate characteristics of ripe raspberry and spice, but the overall effect is not too far off from what you should expect of this delicate, feminine grape. The most classic and the most famous among the wines by Fattoria del Cerro. It has a vivid ruby red colour and good concentration. Intense fragrant aroma with evident fruity notes among which wild black cherry, violet and vanilla. Full balanced flavour with noticeable but discreet tannic component. Lohsa Morellino di Scansano 2014 Tuscany, Italy
Federico Carletti, proprietor of Poliziano in Montepulciano, produces this wine from vineyards just a few miles from the sea. It reflects a coastal warmth and concentration as well as the trademark cherry aromas of ciliegiolo (15 percent of the blend). Aged eight month in used barrels and tonneaux, it feels balanced and energetic, with a clean, herbal finish. Try if you like: Cabernet Franc.
Barossa Valley Estate Shiraz 2015 Barossa Valley, Australia
Dark plum with a ruby rim. Dark chocolate and mocha are immediately recognizable. Chocolate notes persist and evolve into milk chocolate mousse and vanilla anglaise. Wild blackberries, dark cherry and satsuma plum lead the fruit charge. A medium to full-bodied wine with plum and fleshy/sweet dark fruits. Chocolate custard common to both aroma and palate. Pecan tart, wafer biscuit, vanilla pod. A seamless marriage between fruit, tannin and oak. Try if you like: Malbec.

This wine is a big one, going all out to make friends. New-oak aromas like clove, cedar and cinnamon explode out of the glass, then flavors of dark chocolate and cherry spread across the palate for a generous—almost thick—impression. Fine layers of tannins and firm acidity blanket the texture. Try if you like: Malbec.
