Dance Class Descriptions. What is your Child's Style?
Beginner Tap and Ballet
Tap and Ballet will be offered to our little ones which will be introducing dance to them. Our little dancers will focus on body control, rhythm, and flexibility. Students will learn to listen and focus on body movement and control. They will begin to learn dance terminology, their choreography and beginning tap and ballet all in a structured environment. They must be able to attend this class without a parent/guardian. This class will practice for 45 minutes once a week.
Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style and originality. This type of dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns.
Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz, with expressive motions that tell a story. Students will learn lyrical technique along with how to express emotion through movement.
These routines implement the principles of fall and recovery, contraction and release, weight sharing and innovative manipulation of the body to express inner feelings as related to the musical or narrative piece.
Prop dance classes will emphasize the use of props or a variety of props. The manipulation of the prop must be the main focal point of the routine.
Hip Hop routines incorporate street style movements with an emphasis on execution, style, creativity, body isolations and control, rhythm, uniformity and musical interpretation.
Variety routines will incorporate a blend of jazz, pom, and hip hop styles.
Pom style will be incorporated in our variety routines; however poms may or may not be used depending on the routine. A pom routine clean/precise and sharp motions, visual effect and tricks (i.e. leaps, turns, pom passes and kick lines).
Every year United All Stars offer various camps especially their United Spirit Camp which is for high school and Jr. High teams.
High teams. They spend three days staying at the beautiful Iowa Central Community College dorms and then spend three fun filled days learning stunts, cheers, dances and jumps with the United Coaches and Iowa Central Coaches. United also does private camps for any teams including high school and junior high. Contact the United office for more details.
