In the early 1930's the Kalb family opened Kalb's All American Restaurant, which featured "air conditioned comfort" with lunches from 50 cents and dinners 75 cents. Descendants from the family still live in the Essex area today. In 1948 Mr. Ed Hockaday purchased Kalb's changing the name to: Uncle Eddie's Restaurant.
Several of Mr. Ed's original dishes are still served here today!!
Our family purchased the restaurant in 1980, slowly modernizing the operation and changing the entrees according to today's lifestyle.
As the previous owners, we remain committed to offer Essex and it's surroundings high quality, home-style cooking in a friendly service environment at the best possible price.
Our goal is to make couples, families as well as single individuals feel comfortable while they enjoy a good meal.
