New to Yoga?
Here are some basic tips to get you going to your first Yoga or Pilates class at Triad Yoga & Pilates:
Do I have to pre-register?
Please go to the class schedule and click sign up and fill out the new student form. If you are coming in from a promotional offer you will need to come into the studio and after your first visit in person, you will be able to register online.
What do I wear?
Wear comfortable cloths such as sweat pants and a t-shirt. Students are asked to remove their shoes in the lobby and practice barefoot in the studio.
Do I need to bring any equipment or a mat?
Please bring your own mat if you have one and a small towel. We have mats you can use but highly recommend investing in one of your own. Preferably a Jade or Manduka mat should be purchased for your safety and performance. We provide all other accessories and equipment.
I am not flexible or in shape. Can I still do Yoga or Pilates?
Yes! Yoga and Pilates will help you become more flexible. You will start seeing a difference in how you hold a pose after a couple weeks of attending classes regularly. Yoga is a lot more than just becoming flexible - you will benefit on many different levels. From physical modalities including stress reduction, deep relaxation, inner peace to balance and prosperity. It is always a good idea to consult your doctor.

Class Descriptions
Hatha Yoga
Known as the traditional type of yoga or the yoga of movement, stemming back 5,000 years ago using Asanas (postures) and pranayama (breathing) to build strength, flexibility, balance and coordination, while gaining peace-of-mind using proper breathing.
Hatha Flow / Vinyasa Flow
Vinyasa means series of postures. Hatha Flow / Vinyasa Flow are Hatha Yoga classes in a sequential, rhythmic flow from Asana (posture) to utilizing breath, which will build endurance, stamina, strength and flexibility. This class is recommended for students with prior or consistent Yoga practice.
Ashtanga / Power Yoga
The system of Yoga taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India. The synchronization of the breath with a vinyasa (series of postures). A process where internal heat is combined with a purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles & organs.
Fig Yoga
Yoga class utilizing the unique basic elements of Southern California re-known Yogi, Newton "Fig" Campbell. Fig Yoga classes are physically conditioning building strength, endurance, stamina and flexibility while being pushed to purity in sweating out toxins. Recommended for those who are physically fit.
Forrest Yoga
Deep breathing, abdominal exercises, longer posture holds and vigorous pose sequencing increases balance, strength and flexibility while connecting you to your core. Forrest Yoga focuses on healing and growth of the physical and emotional bodies and is based on the teachings of Ana Forrest. Connect in feeling with your body, deepen your self-awareness and learn to work honestly at your edges as you develop playful curiosity and integrity in your practice
Mat Based Pilates
A series of floor exercises specifically designed to incorporate the abdominal with breathing to strengthen the core, improve posture & alignment, build flexibility, increase stamina & lung capacity, improve circulation, balance and coordination. Makes muscles leaner, longer, stronger & healthier
Pilates Conditioning
Using variations of traditional Pilates exercises, this class has a quicker pace to get your weekend started. Prior Pilates experience is suggested.
PreNatal Yoga
Yoga Asanas designed in a safe and effective sequence for all stages of pregnancy. Tones womens' changing body while helping ease discomfort and fatigue. Leads to an easier delivery.
Yin Restorative Yoga
Relax and rejuvenate body, mind and spirit in this meditative yoga class... a perfect complement to all active yang practices. Yin yoga is a strong yet passive form of yoga in which postures are held three to five minutes using breath to open the body and enhance flexibility. Restorative yoga, with the added use of props, allows one to deeply relax and integrate.
Level 1
For the beginner or those who desire a more in depth instructional class and how to use the breath along with the postures.
Level 1-2
For the seasoned beginner or intermediate students who have an understanding of the Asanas and a broader concept of the Yoga postures.
Level 2
A more in-depth approach to the Yoga postures (Asanas). Classes are more rigorous and require stamina, previous or consistent Yoga practice.
Level 2-3
A class for advanced practitioners only. Inversions, strong arm balances and other challenging postures are a norm throughout this class.
