There are so many different styles of Yoga that choosing one just right for you can be daunting. At Tranquil Heart Yoga, we have simplified the process so that you can quickly and easily identify the type of class that is best suited for your needs.
These classes are perfect for any level student who has no major physical limitations, and anyone who wants to move through sequences at a faster, yet gentle and conscious pace. These are great classes for beginners, as well as for those who wish to strengthen their ongoing yoga practice.
Blend postures with connecting movements and breath to build internal heat while improving strength, flexibility and overall health. This class is meant for those who wish to move at a faster, yet gentle pace.
End your day with the tranquility of Candlelight Yoga, which blends gentle movement and restorative poses with a focus on relaxing into the deepest layers of the body to return us to a place of surrender and calm.
Whereas our YOGA ACTIVE classes are great for strengthening and addressing muscle tissue, our YOGA THERAPY classes address the surrounding tissues called fascia. These classes are slower paced, and typically address specific areas based on the students' needs. If you have mobility issues, are pregnant, or just need a chance to down-regulate the autonomic nervous system (in other words chill-out) these are the classes for you. Did your doctor recommend yoga for a particular issue? These are the classes best suited to address those concerns.
Yin Yoga is a great way to counter the faster and more active styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat and contracting and lengthening the muscle tissues. This class will focus on melting adhesion in the connective tissue layers through more passive poses that are held longer, allowing time for depth and breath, becoming more meditative in nature.
Relax, renew and restore the mind, body and spirit with a specially designed sequence of poses based on your needs.
An exciting addition to our schedule. Aside from our continuing FOCUS classes spotlighting Bellies/Backs and Core/Hips, we have a very special class series called FOUNDATIONS. In these classes, students discover the inner workings of the yoga practice and its effects, by diving deeper into anatomy, physiology, and yoga philosophy. These classes are usually presented as workshops and available only to those who pay a premium. But here at Tranquil Heart Yoga in West Houston, they are included in the cost of the membership.
In this conditioning class, we will use various props such as the fit ball and resistance tubing to help tone and strengthen the hips and core. At the end of this class, you will feel refreshed and rejuvenated with an extended relaxation.
Build and strengthen the abdominal group, lower back, hip girdle and upper body as well as improve range of motion. Satkriyas (organic purification exercises) and pranayama (breath exercises) are part of this class.
This foundations class will rotate between topics: shoulder/neck, hips, core, forward/back bends, inversions, arm and wrist health, meditation, breath, etc. In this class, anatomy and physiology will be discussed as well as the problems that can arise during practice. Perfect for the person who wants to learn more about the why and how of yoga, this class is highly experiential – we will learn by doing.
