Bubbly
Champagne has launched thousands of ships, toasted billions of weddings, and shared countless special moments between people. French champagne is normally a blend of chardonnay, pinot noir, or pinot blanc grapes, as in the United States, however we classify "champagne" as sparkling wine.

Montalcino is a small, medieval town just outside of the town of Siena. Brunello di Montalcino is created entirely from Sangiovese grapes. By Italian wine law, Brunello must be aged longer than any other wine, a minimum of four years. Brunello is subtle with overtones of blackberry, black cherry, chocolate, sweet vanilla. Drink it with the hearty dishes, including lamb, pork, & red meat.

Super Tuscans
In the 1970's Piero Antinori, whose family had been making wine for more than 600 years, decided to make a richer wine by adding Bordeaux varietals (namely, cabernet sauvignon and merlot). The result was the first Super Tuscan, which he named Tignanello, after the vineyard where the grapes were grown. Other winemakers started experimenting with Super Tuscan blends of their own shortly thereafter.

Chianti
The region of Chianti, located in central Tuscany, has been growing grapes since the 8th century B.C. Chianti is divided into seven separate wine zones, the most recognizable, Chianti Classico. All Chianti wines are comprised of the sangiovese grape, accounting for at least 75% of the blend. Chianti has an aroma of cherries and plums, and the best wines even have a slight spiciness and a touch of saltiness. Chianti is at its best when it accompanies food such as tomato-based dishes and hearty beefs.
Barolo is one of the world's greatest red wines frequently referred to as "the king of wines." Barolo is made in the Langhe Hills region of Piedmont, entirely of Nebbiolo grapes. Big, powerful, and full-bodied with a complex mixture of tastes and textures; wild strawberry, tobacco, chocolate, and vanilla. Barbaresco is Barolo's near neighbor and stylistic soul mate, but tends to be softer and slightly more graceful. Barbera, grown in Alba and Asti are known for their bold blackberry and red fruit flavor.

Merlot
Merlot is the most widely planted fine wine grape in the world, with nearly 460,000 acres cultivated in more than two dozen countries. Not quite as harsh as other reds, merlot has less tannin, however more herbaceous overall in both aroma and taste. It is mellow but still complex, known for the flavors of plums, black cherry, violets, and orange. Merlot wine is excellent with pasta, meats and even chocolate.

Cabernet Sauvignon
The History of Cabernet Sauvignon is actually less than six hundred years old, which makes it a relative newcomer to the world of wine grapes. Although grown all over the world, California is one of the world's largest producers of Cabernet Sauvignon. Its distinctive black currant aroma can develop bouquet nuances of cedar and violets, its typically tannic edge may soften and smooth considerably with age. Nothing goes better with a glass of "cab" than a tender red meat, a juicy barbequed steak, as well as grilled and smoked proteins.
