Our interior surface preparation is thorough. Surface preparation can vary in its interpretation, so it is important to understand from the consumer side what you are purchasing. We always say that preparation is 90% of any paint project; therefore, the end result is a beautiful one
Our Standard Interior Preparation
Our Standard Interior Preparation
We cover all cabinetry, appliances, light fixtures, mirrors, vanities, and all other non-painted items thoroughly using drop clothes and plastic. All flooring, furnishings, and large items of furniture are covered in the same fashion (furniture that occupies the rooms work is to be performed in will be moved into the center of each room and then moved back into it's place after the project has been completed). All of your switches and outlet covers are removed then protected with tape all the way down to the screw heads (doesn't it look tacky when you see finish paint on the screw head of your cover plates). Every square inch of surface in the areas we are working in will be touched with a piece of sand paper and the caulk will be replaced where separated (we don't just add new caulk to the already separated area we cut it out and replace it...eventually it will just build up over time and become an eye soar). When we repair the drywall on your project we address 5 major areas of drywall repair per 100 square feet of drywall surface using your natural light or incandescent light currently in your home. In addition, we fill all nail holes from standard wall hangings and window treatments. The drywall repairs are then sanded and primed to ensure no additional point up is needed prior to applying the finish paint. A clean up process occurs after the surfaces are ready for coating. We want to make sure that we have as close to a dust free environment as we possibly can prior to applying the finish paint. The walls are wiped down and a person is misting the room while the plastic is removed. This step helps the dust from being kicked up and getting airborne during this clean up step, it is repeated during the final clean up. After new coverings are in place it is time for paint! The painting process starts off by spot priming the repairs using the client chosen finish paint and color to minimize flashing (flashing is a term used in the industry when a sheen difference is seen either at an angle or directly in front of the drywall repair you are looking at). All of our paint projects are brushed and rolled maintaining a wet edge throughout the process. Most of the time two coats of finish paint are required to ensure proper coverage and longevity of the finish paint. We use only top quality hand tools, sand paper, plastic, construction paper, and primers to ensure a "Job Well Done"
Prior to starting our paint projects we ask our clients to do a few things to prepare for the arrival of your crew
Remove wall hangings. (If you need assistance with large items, please let us know and we will assist you. We ask that you be present during this step.)

Remove all window treatments (This is a great time to get your treatments cleaned, if applicable.)
Disconnect or relocate to an area we are not working all computer equipment, printers, fax machines, answering machines, and wireless modems.
Empty all armoires, dressers, night stands, end tables, buffets, and closets (if applicable).
Remove all breakables from the areas work is to be performed in.

The following are a few testimonials from our clients:
"Just to let you know, TR Young has been fabulous - even being flexible about my seller's foreign address. They also were able to get to the job faster than the others. Thanks so much!"
"What a delight and pleasure it is to be writing this letter to you. I contracted Thomas for a six week project. The crew was kind, courteous, respectful, patient, and easy to coordinate with, as well as knowledgeable. I highly recommend them without any reservations on my part. Good luck with your project."
"I would like to take this opportunity to complement you and your company on the outstanding painting job that was recently completed for our paint company. The work was superb. The crew that was assigned was extremely conscientious with the work being done quietly, neatly, on time, and with almost no disruption to our normal daily activity. As the logo on your mailing envelope says, it was a "Job Well Done." It is always a pleasure to do business with consummate professionals and we look forward to future dealings with your firm. If we can provide you with letters of reference or introduction, please do not hesitate to contact us."
"Enclosed is the final payment for the wonderful work you recently completed in painting our living room and foyer and stripping the stone fireplace. We are thrilled with the results and have received numerous complements on the wonderfully restored fireplace as well as the quality of your painting. The work has made all the difference - we finally feel that the interior of the house matches the majestic exterior. It was also a pleasure to work with you and your dedicated team. You took the time to answer all our questions, explained all our options, worked with us to make it affordable, and fit the job into our schedule. Your team was very professional, honest, courteous and talented. They clearly took their work seriously and it shows in the finished product. Again, many thanks for your excellent work and service. We look forward to working with you again when the need arise and will certainly recommend you to others. Feel free to provide our name to future clients in need of referral."
"Recently, I engaged the services of T. R. Young based on a referral from an organization I know and trust. As someone who had the pleasure of working with Tom Young and several members of his staff, I would like to take this opportunity to relate my personal experience. Throughout my initial meeting and beyond with Tom he was patient, thorough and knowledgeable. There is no doubt that Tom's diligent efforts and professionalism were responsible for making our relationship and improvements on my home a pleasant transaction. Tom worked with me constantly and was always on top of every project and detail. Furthermore, I feel that my time was never wasted and Tom tuned in to what I was looking for by anticipating my needs and addressing all my concerns. The effort, energy and commitment that Tom provided for the work on my home falls in the above and beyond category. Each member of Tom's staff was on time, polite and efficient. I found all to be cooperative and trusting. I have consistently found Tom Young and his staff to be pleasant, sincere and honest in all of our dealings. Because of these fine qualities, I am confident that we will work together again."
"My wife and I want to express our complete satisfaction with the work your company did painting the outside of our house. From your visit to walk around the house and give us your estimate, to the preparation and painting, to the final clean up of the premises, everything was done in a highly professional manner. I want to commend the crew. My wife told me they are the best crew she has seen. They were all clearly well-trained and skilled at their work, and were also very friendly and courteous, willing to answer our questions and discuss the progress of the work. They put in the time needed to do a good job, not rushing or using shortcuts, but still finishing on the schedule you originally gave us. They were always here when they said they would be, and they formed an efficient unit. When he came into the house to paint the window sills he was careful not to make any mess, first taking off his shoes. The house looks beautiful. That, of course, is most important to us. But there were a number of small things that we also appreciate. We will call you next time we need painting done."
"Thanks so much for a job well done, but especially for having such nice people working for your company. There are very few people I would leave the house key with and be gone for the day."
"I want to thank you and the people who work for you for the nice job you did painting the interior of my house. It looks beautiful. The whole family was "oohing" and "ahhing" when we got back from our trip and said how nice it looked. I also appreciated the good shape in which you left the house and my husband still can't figure out how you painted behind the fish tank. He thinks it was magic."
"I highly recommend Thomas Young particularly for painting the wood finish. He performed excellent restoration work on my old oak window and moldings Architectural Digest quality painting."

"This note is to express our appreciation for the high quality and timely work you and your staff put into constructing and finishing a new staircase in our home. The stairs, new framing, and trim have been seamlessly integrated into the existing walls, floors, and ceiling, making it appear as if these elements have always been part of the house. We were particularly impressed with your staff's work ethic, craftsmanship, and willingness to please. They kept the work area remarkably clean throughout the project, and even worked overtime when necessary to ensure that the estimated completion date was met. We were also grateful for your efforts to resolve code-related problems left by others and discovered during demolition. For all these reasons we have recommended your company to our friends and neighbors and will certainly call you first for any further construction/painting work we may need. Thanks from two pleased customers."
"Guys did great job on garage door, etc. Today, will recommend you to our neighborhood civic association who keep database of best (and worst) home contractors for folks to use. Will also be in contact with you for interior painting and for possible maintenance contract. Overall, excellent painting by hard working, very pleasant crew."
"We'd like to thank you for your efficient and timely renovation of our bathroom. As you recall, we had trouble with two contractors before using your professional services. After several trips to Home Depot our nightmare was transformed into a dream. Please extend our gratitude to Alex who handled all our special requests without hesitations. We look forward to working with you on our other bathroom renovations sometime this summer."

"We thought you would like to see these before and after pictures of the bathroom. We are very pleased with the results, and thank you both for the excellent and professional services you provided. We will not hesitate to recommend either of you to anyone who is considering a home improvement project."
"By the way, EVERYONE loves the walkway. I've had neighbors, friends, even the UPS guy who does deliveries comment on what a fabulous job you folks did! Definitely a highlight I enjoy every day."
"Dear Ron: Please note that I am very satisfied with the service your company provided. Edgar called before coming and was very courteous and professional. I was also treated with the same level of courtesy and professionalism by the other members of your staff and by you. I appreciate this very much!"
"Hi Thomas, Everything is going great so far. We are very impressed with Abraham & Juan's work!"
"Ron, Attached are some before and after pics. Everything looks great -- thanks for a fantastic job."

"Good morning - We just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know how please we are with the work done on our windows. The windows are great, they fit perfectly and the touch-up work is extraordinary. After a mere four days it looks like they have been there forever. Please extend our sincere thanks to the workers and let them know we appreciate their efficiency, neatness and incredible attention to detail."
"I would like to thank you and your painters for an outstanding job of painting our shop. It was very evident from the beginning that your painters take great pride in their work by the amount of preparation they did of the walls before the actual painting. At first I was hesitant to leave them with my key but after your reassuring words and observing the quality of their work. I felt very comfortable leaving my key and having you return it the next day. I enjoyed working with you and I will highly recommend you to others. Again thanks for an outstanding paint job."
"T. R. Young comes highly recommended in the Washington D. C. area. I am completely satisfied with his renovation of my home, and I highly recommend his superior workmanship, competence, and integrity. Every one of his employees is highly skilled and professional. You couldn't do better. He's the best."

When remodeling your basement, the first priority is to address the foundation and walls. Waterproofing your basement is one of the most important things to address prior to any remodeling projects. Fully finished remodeled basements have endless potential and specific function uses such as adding a home office, extra bedroom, another bathroom, an exercise room, a separate laundry room with organized storage space, or even a home theater with surround sound
You may simply repair your current floors or choose a brand new look. When selecting flooring material a number of factors are taken into consideration such as the comfort, durability, and the ease of cleaning & maintaining it

It's hard to beat a cozy feeling of a blazing wood fire on a chilly night. But modern fireplaces come close, and without the drawbacks of messy logs or ashes to clean out. And lighting the fire is as simple as flipping a switch or turning a valve
