Top Notch Kennels offers Three boarding facilities: Top Notch Kennels in Modesto, Top Notch Kennels in Turlock, and the Pee Wee Cottage in Modesto! Whether it's for a day or an extended period of time, we are here to provide a fun, safe, clean, and worry-free stay for your furry family member. We are dedicated to the well-being of our canine companions. Our highly educated, compassionate, dog loving staff is waiting to welcome you. Our spacious suites are equipped with comfy beds and blankets, full A/C and heating, and soothing music. All guests are served 2 delicious meals each day, a snack at bedtime and given potty breaks throughout the day. If you wish to bring food from home, please bring enough for your dog's boarding stay. Bag each meal individually, labeled with your dog's name and if it is for the AM or PM meal. See below for additional, stimulating and fun services available to add to any boarding stay. We provide each guest with a "suitcase" (about the size of a shoe box). You are welcome to bring items for your dog that will fit in this container.

Deluxe Suite

You May Check in or Check Out Anytime During Office Hours.

Daily charges apply on check in date; there is no daily boarding charge if checked out before 10:30AM on the departure date. Sundays excluded.

Individual Private Play

One of our human pack members will dedicate his or her time to your dog's favorite activity; fetching the ball or Frisbee, petting, brushing, etc. Timing varies from 20-40 minutes for this service depending on activity; a very energetic game of fetch might take less time, whereas something low-key like helping our office staff greet clients and their pets could last longer. This option is most often for the pooches who enjoy lots of activity or attention, but don't prefer spending time with a group of dogs!

Group Play

Group play activity is for those pups who enjoy the company of other dogs. An evaluation is required in order to consider your dog for group play activity. Group play for the boarding guest is three to four hours of off-leash play time on our play yards. Outdoor play yards have plenty of shade structures for hot or rainy weather and during the summertime heat there's lots of fun water play and pools. Dogs are all supervised during group play and separated into several different groups based on play style, size, temperament, and activity level. Please Note: Dogs over 12 months of age participating in group play must be spayed/neutered.

Pedicure

Make sure your pup is putting their best paw forward! Keeping your dog's nails trimmed is important for healthy balance, posture, joints, muscles and comfort. Keep up with regular nail trims to keep them at a safe and comfortable length!

Grooming

Schedule a bath or complete grooming with a bath and haircut. All grooming services include a pedicure and dogs are always hand dried. The daily boarding fee for your departure day is waived if the grooming service is scheduled on the day of departure. Price varies according to breed, coat condition and haircut. Many dogs are naturally social, and what better way to enrich their lives than a play day!

Daycare guests are divided into play groups based on play style, size, temperament, and activity level. Daycare dogs will run free on the play yards, frolic on our play equipment, and make new friends! Always staff supervised, your dog returns home happy and exhausted, and ready for snuggle time with you. Top Notch staff is continuously trained in reading canine body language and behavior to keep play time fun, relaxed and happy.

All prospective Daycare Guests must first undergo an evaluation for group play eligibility.

Each dog is evaluated on his/her ability to play well with others, share objects, and enjoy the company and advances of other dogs.

Dogs over 12 months of age participating in Daycare or group play must be spayed/neutered.

For various reasons, classes are not always the best approach for everyone. Busy schedules or dog behavioral issues shouldn't stand in the way of having a happy and well-adjusted dog as a member of your family.

We are Happy to Offer Private Training Lessons at Your Home Tailored to Fit Your Needs.

We use a positive approach with the benefit of one-on-one instruction.

Behavioral Consultations

$90 | Base price within the local area for a 1-hour consultation, additional travel fee will apply outside the local area, and/or reactive or aggressive behavioral issues.

Behavioral Consultations Will Address Why Undesired Behavior is Happening and How to Modify it Appropriately.

A 60-minute private session with a certified behavior counselor will provide you with the knowledge and positive techniques needed to overcome behavioral challenges.

If you notice that your dog begins to have a behavioral issue, please call us as soon as possible to schedule a consultation.

You may also choose to schedule a consultation anytime to learn how to prevent behavioral issues from occurring. Identifying the cause of issues early on can make the difference between a happy, enjoyable relationship with your dog and a stressful, constant battle with your canine companion.

We Offer a Day Training Program for Your Dog While Boarding for a Few Days or During Your Dog's Play Day.

It's all depending on the extent of the training desired. Day training is held at our facility with our trainer working one-on-one with your dog. Your dog can learn new behaviors, tricks or fine tune the ones already known.

We Begin with a Minimum of 4 Sessions Within a 10 Day Period

This includes an appointment with our trainer to review your dog's progress and training techniques for continued at-home management. All behaviors are acquired through effective positive training methods. After, the initial set of four training sessions, your dog is able to benefit from single sessions during daycare, grooming or boarding.

Board and Train

This program is run by Certified Professional Dog Trainers (CPDT's) and Karen Pryor Certified Training Partners (KPA-CTP's).

This Program is a Great Option for the Busy Family Without Time to Train for a Well-Mannered Dog.

With this service, your dog stays with us at our facility.

Our certified trainers work with your dog using positive reinforcement based techniques while learning practical behaviors to be a well-adjusted member of the family. Your dog will be trained around people, other dogs and in various environments.

The Family Will Have Regularly Scheduled Training Sessions to Give You an Opportunity to Learn More About the Training and Canine Behavior.

We teach you the same methods we use in training your dog. Working with you ensures that the new, desired behavior will transfer to your environment. Two weeks after your dog returns home, your trainer will schedule a follow up session at home to ensure a continued smooth transition for you and your dog.

Your Dog Will Be Introduced to Basic Manners

Some of which include sit, down, stay, come when called, walking politely on leash, on your mat and wait. During your initial meeting with your dog's trainer, you will be able to discuss priorities and specific desires.

Grooming

Keep your dog looking his/her very best with Salon appointments at Top Notch Kennels!

Our professional groomers have many years of experience, and are inspired masters of canine haircuts. Your dog is bathed using gentle, natural products, dried by hand (never cage dried), and given a pedicure. No harsh methods or tranquilizers are ever used – we provide your dog a calm, relaxing salon environment with friendly staff, plus water, snack and potty breaks. Salon appointments can be booked as a final service at the end of a boarding stay, or scheduled as a drop off in the morning.
