Martha Ezzard Continues Book Talk Schedule in 2016!
Martha Ezzard's memoir about the Ezzards' pioneering vineyard venture
which won the 2014 Georgia Author of the Year award, continues to attract press reviews and speaking engagements
Opening Martha Ezzard's The Second Bud is like popping the cork on a bottle of fine wine
the more you sip, the gooder it gets. Forget all the glamorous, foo-foo crap you've ever heard about owning a vineyard; growing wine is hard work and so are the challenges the author and her husband face. So lush is Martha's telling that the reader is caught up in the fragrant, beautiful landscape of the vineyard without ever having set foot on the soil." Nancy Stephan, Memoir/Autobiography Judge
While traveling with Martha from Denver
Colorado to Atlanta and finally full-time to Tiger, be prepared for detours that will yank your heart strings and strike your funny bone. John Shivers, Georgia Mountain Laurel, October 2014
In grape growing a second bud sometimes comes along to replace a first that has fallen victim to late spring frosts.
As a metaphor for survival, perseverance and unexpected growth, it's pretty darned good. As the title of Martha Ezzard's book, it's perfect." Jill Vejnoska, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Martha Ezzard's book, The Second Bud; Deserting the City for a Farm Winery
is available in the Tasting Room, Fox Tale Book Shoppe in Woodstock, in Prater's Book Store in Clayton, Dahlonega's Naturally Georgia, and independent book stores throughout the southeast as well as The Tattered Cover in Denver
In the Atlanta Metro area
the book is available at the Decatur Sherlock's/Cook's Warehouse, Eagle Eye Book Store in Decatur; A Cappella Books in Atlanta and The Book Exchange in Marietta
Tiger Mountain Vineyards wines are 100% Rabun County, Georgia grown. The winery owners, John and Martha Ezzard, John and Marilyn McMullan are native Georgians. The vineyards, planted on the Ezzards' five-generation-old family farm, are nestled on a hillside high up in Rabun County, on the rocky, sunny slopes of the North Georgia mountains. The approximate 10 acres of vines are individually tended and the grapes hand-picked for quality. The red wines are barrel-aged 18 to 24 months. Visit the vineyards and the tasting room, both open year round.
