The homework center offers evening and weekend sessions. Students can come to any session that has open space, but they must pre-register prior to coming to the session. Upon entering the Homework Center, your student will be greeted by a coach who will collaboratively assist them in creating their DAILY STUDY PLAN. This plan will represent your student's: 1. Overall Work Plan – updating their current work plan with new assignments. 2. Prioritization – what "chunks" of work will they do, in what order and on what day. 3. Today's Plan – what will get done today and how are they going to do it? They will utilize skills that match their learning style — e.g. math with graph paper, history with notes on my computer, English test with study flashcards. 4. Today's Assessment – sharing their progress against that plan when they leave. The act of creating this plan reinforces the habits of planning, allows measurement of completed work against predicted work and provides visibility to coaches, parents and other key stakeholders. Over time, the "planned-work-to-completed-work" ratio will improve and student's confidence in their ability to plan and complete work will improve in tandem
