Beginning Yoga
Day: Wednesdays; Time: 7:00 - 8:15; Instructor: Paul Busch. This class will introduce the fundamentals of alignment, breathing and mindfulness in foundational yoga postures and will help to create a basic groundwork for students. This class is intended as an entry point for students who are brand-new to yoga and want to start right at the beginning, or for those with some experience who want to spend more time on the foundations of yoga practice.

Paul Busch has taught yoga for 22 years, He works with students to explore posture, breath and mind from a non-dogmatic perspective, using the ultimate organizing principle of simply doing what works. He pays particular attention to joints, both because joint health is important and because the joints are a powerful doorway into more efficient and effective posture and movement. Paul strives to bring the full benefits of yoga to students.

The Saint Paul Yoga Center offers a variety of enrollment options, flexible to suit your needs. Register now to pay with a credit card, and reserve your spot before you come to class. After you sign up for an on-line class, a link will be emailed to you for joining the class on Zoom (generally at least an hour before class). After 3 months, the drop-in discount of $4 per class expires, but the paid amount of the punchcard does not expire (i.e., a student with an expired 5-class punchcard could take 4 classes and have $12 to apply toward a fifth class). After 6 months, the drop-in discount of $5 per class expires, but the paid amount of the punchcard does not expire (i.e., a student with an expired 10-class punchcard could take 8 classes and have $14 to apply toward a ninth class).

Ageless Yoga Tuesday (Livestream)
Terese began her study of yoga in 1982, and has been teaching since 1985. She draws predominantly from Iyengar yoga, with an emphasis on making the poses accessible to a wide range of levels and abilities. Terese's teaching style gently but firmly draws students toward their expanding potential, emphasizing awareness, alignment and acceptance of one's limitations and unexplored possibilities. Beginning & Continuing Iyengar Yoga (Livestream)
Iyengar yoga is a method that emphasizes precise alignment and the use of props to enable all students to benefit from the effects of poses. It is named after master BKS Iyengar of Pune, India. Its teachers typically follow a common syllabus and methodology.
Beginning & Continuing Yoga (Livestream)
This class is used as a step between beginning level and continuing level. Some prior yoga experience and understanding of alignment is advised.
Continuing Yoga (Livestream)
For the student who has completed at least six months of the beginning and beginning/continuing courses. It builds on the study of fundamental poses and introduces inversions and back arches. Home practice is highly encouraged.

Pranayama and Philosophy (by Donation, Livestream)
In this class we will cover the basic elements of prāṇāyāma including the practices known as ujjāyiī, viloma and bhrāmarī You will learn how to set up for supine and seated prāṇāyāma and will learn the tools needed to develop your own regular practice. Thirty minutes of each class will be dedicated to studying the philosophical underpinnings of prāṇāyāma as it relates to the yoga tradition. This class is suitable for students who have about a year's worth of study in Iyengar Yoga. Props needed: yoga mat, three blankets, yoga belt and two blocks. Head wrap and folding metal chair desirable but not necessary.
Restorative Yoga (Livestream)
The hatha-based restorative yoga classes Danielle teaches are focused on the practitioners. Each pose includes modifications that allow everyone, regardless of age, flexibility, or strength, to access the benefits of yoga. You will leave each class feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, having lengthened and strengthened muscles that may have been tightened or misaligned for quite some time.
Beginning Yoga (Livestream)
This class is appropriate for true beginners, as well as students with "beginner's mind." Learning and refining the basics is always recommended.
Intermediate Yoga (Livestream)
A slower-paced vinyasa class, with longer holds and often a more gentle, lunar sequence of poses (think cooling and slowing down, versus heating and speeding up). Students may find this class to be restorative, while also challenging as it explores movement, stillness, strength, and surrender. Beginners and more experienced yoga practitioners are welcome.
