Our Team
KATHERINE - Studio Owner -
Katherine became certified in 2008 by Body Arts and Science International in Comprehensive Pilates and Dance Conditioning. She graduated Cum Laude in 2009 from Cal State Long Beach with a BA in Dance; Science Option, and had the privilege of studying under the close tutelage of Karen Clippinger. Her passion for movement stems from her dance background and interest in human anatomy. Seeking to deepen her knowledge as in instructor, she also became a Certified Personal Trainer in 2012 by American College of Sports Medicine. Since being at The Pilates Place since 2009, Katherine has worked with a vast variety of clients; from elderly populations to national level athletes. In her work, Katherine strives to honor the teachings of Joseph Pilates and his Contrology method while staying current with contemporary research of the Pilates and physical fitness world. Katherine became owner of the studio in 2016. When not at the studio, Katherine's biggest joy in life is spending time with her husband and daughters. In her spare time she loves to read, ride bikes with her family, travel, and continue to learn about the human body and its' endless capabilities.
NIKI
Niki became Certified in the Pilates Method in 2002, by Diane Diefenderfer at Studio du Corps. She is also Mat certified in BASI by Rael Isocowitz and has attended several Pilates Method Alliance conferences, gaining additional training and became a PMA® Certified Pilates Teacher. Niki teaches all formats of Pilates: group, mat and privates. With thousands of teaching hours during the past 14 years, she enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for fitness and her passion for Pilates with every student, paying attention to detail and quality of movement in order to build a strong, flexible body. Niki became a MELT Method Instructor in April of 2011; in 2012 she completed 7 days of MELT NeuroStrength training as an advanced instructor and is bringing this easy to learn technique of self-massage with small balls and a soft roller, to all of Orange County with over 8 classes a week. She has continued with training in MELT for Pilates, using a soft half roller to better access the deep core. She has also been a TA for Sue Hitzmann, the MELT Method Creator, for 4 recent workshops. After earning a B.A. at CSULB and working full time, she became a Jazzercise instructor, teaching fun and effective dance classes for almost 24 years. She brings this wide-ranging background and her love of being fit to her Pilates and MELT instruction. Hobbies are teaching, snow skiing, taking care of two kitties, a puppy dog and a wonderful husband. Summer visits to Big Bear and constantly learning and adding to teaching repertoire.
ELENA- Studio Manager
Elena is a southern California native who began her love affair with movement while taking gymnastics at the tender age of 4. A few years later her journey transitioned into exploring the world of dance. She graduated in 2015 with honors from the Dance Department at Cal State University Long Beach. It was as CSULB that she discovered Pilates as a natural adjunct for dancers. She went on to complete her Body Arts and Science (BASI) Pilates Certification with Dance Specialization studies under noted master trainer Karen Clippinger. Since joining the team at The Pilates Place in 2016, Elena has worked with a variety of clientele. She is very excited to be a part of our wellness community. In her spare time she likes to stay active with dance and Pilates.
PAIGE
Paige is an artist and Pilates Instructor based in the Los Angeles area. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Paige studied contemporary dance under the direction of Kate Jablonski at Beyond Words Dance Company for seven years. To further her dance training, Paige moved to Long Beach, California in 2016 to pursue her BFA in dance at California State University, Long Beach. In addition to her passion for dancing, Paige discovered a joy for Pilates while studying at CSULB. In the summer of 2018, Paige became certified in Pilates with a Dance Specialization through BASI Pilates under the direction of Karen Clippinger. Paige is honored to be a Pilates Instructor at The Pilates Place, and is looking forward to sharing her knowledge of Pilates to others. Outside of Pilates, Paige continues to perform as a professional dancer and loves to choreograph. In her little time off, she stays active by biking and swimming, enjoys being outdoors, and sharing her passion for life with those around her.
ROBIN
Robin is a California native, having lived in Orange County most of her life. Her love of movement started with running; having run in multiple half-marathons and one full marathon. After her season of running, she became a Certified Personal Trainer in 2015 and a Certified Health Coach in 2016 by American Council On Exercise. In 2017, she became a 200hr Certified Yoga Instructor through YogaWorks. Then in 2020, she received her Pilates Certification from Body Arts and Science International. Outside of Pilates, she coaches individuals who want to form healthy habits. When she's not working, Robin likes to spend time with her husband and four cats, go to Disneyland, read, learn anything, hike, cook, and hang out with friends.
Caylen
Caylen is a southern California native, born and raised in Long Beach, CA. Her love for movement was realized when she began figure skating lessons at the young age of 12. After six years, she transitioned from the ice to the dance floor. It was then she decided to pursue dance throughout her collegiate years. Caylen graduated from California State University Long Beach in December 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance and Option in Dance Science and it was there she took her first Pilates based class. She became most interested in the enhanced mind-body connection and awareness that Pilates emphasized along with the rehabilitation from injuries, which led her to continue her Pilates education. Caylen has completed her BASI Pilates Teaching Certification with Dance Specialization under the direction of renowned instructorKaren Clippinger. She assisted Karen Clippinger with her Pilates classes at CSULB through Fall semester 2015 and Spring 2016. She has worked with multiple Pilates studios throughout Huntington Beach, CA where she has taught group reformer classes, semi-private, and private pilates. Caylen loves being outdoors where she can enjoy camping, hiking, paddleboarding, and traveling. She is currently working towards her long-term goal of starting her own Pilates business and opening her studio.
