About - Pilates Teacher Training
In body, breath, mind and spirit we preserve the inspired evolution of Body Contrology, the work of Joseph and Clara Pilates, as articulated by our Master Teacher, Ron Fletcher. As he mentored and taught us, so we will teach and mentor others in the physical transformation that leads from strength to balance to grace.
The Pilates Bodyshop is the only Fletcher Pilates® studio in Los Angeles. Conveniently located off the 5 freeway in the neighborhood of Silver Lake, it was built with the ideal movement experience in mind. You'll enjoy a spacious 2800 square feet eco-friendly classroom and a large, fully equipped apparatus space which is furnished with handcrafted equipment by Balanced Body. The equipment was made to Ron's specifications and based upon the original plans given to him by Clara Pilates. Owner Kerri Campbell is honored to be teaching this work, evolved directly from Joseph and Clara Pilates, passed to Ron Fletcher, and now to her and her teachers.
Fletcher Pilates® is the complete body of work developed by first generation teacher Ron Fletcher, who was taught directly by Joseph and Clara Pilates and was one of the few "elders" in the Pilates world. It contains the original Pilates Method taught to him by Joseph and Clara, but also includes Ron's contributions to the work. An emphasis on rhythm, flow, and the breath linking all movements together makes Fletcher Pilates® a continuous and challenging movement experience. Ron Fletcher passed away in 2011 at age 90 but his legacy lives on in all of us.
What Is Unique About Fletcher Pilates®
Encouraged by Clara Pilates to "Go and do" and add to the original Pilates catalogue, Ron Fletcher spent his lifetime developing many signature innovations such as Fletcher Percussive Breathing™, Fletcher Towelwork™, Fletcher Floorwork™, Fletcher Barrework™ and Fletcher Spine Corrector™, which are not found in any other lineages of Pilates. These innovations came out of a need for what his students were lacking and inspiration has been drawn from the many great artists Ron studied with, such as Martha Graham. It has lead to the most complete and comprehensive body of work that as a Qualified Fletcher® Pilates Teacher; we can pull from to address any goal. It's best to think of Fletcher Pilates and other schools of Pilates like Samba and Ballet; both forms of dance, but different in style. Read more about Pilates in Ron Fletcher's own words.

Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training Program – Los Angeles, CA. The Pilates Bodyshop LA 2894 Rowena Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90039; Fletcher Program Director: Kyria Sabin; Fletcher Faculty: Kerri Campbell. Next Session:
Owner, The Pilates Bodyshop; Fletcher Pilates® Faculty. Kerri began her Pilates practice ten years ago after a debilitating car accident left her with multiple complex injuries. She began with the east coast style while attending The University of the Arts, in Philadelphia, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She shortly moved to Los Angeles and began a television and film career but found she was always searching for a deeper understanding of the Pilates practice that was keeping her body and mind together. After completing, and even teaching several teacher-training courses with some of the most respected names in the Pilates field, Kerri came to the work of master teacher Ron Fletcher. She discovered her most profound body transformations with Fletcher Pilates® and through the rigorous and demanding study of his lineage, she finally found the depth of knowledge that she had been seeking. While attending the Ron Fletcher Comprehensive Program of Study™ in Tucson, Arizona she found that Ron's Seven Standing and Centering Cues and Fletcher Fundamentals allowed her to teach movement in a precise manner so the work could be applied to life outside the studio. She is the Fletcher Pilates® Facilitator for Los Angeles and teaches several licensing courses a year in specific aspects of the Fletcher work. Her experience as a student of several Pilates styles, a patient, a physical therapy aide, an artist, and a Qualified Fletcher Pilates® Teacher, gives her a singular ability to pass this work on. The opening of her first studio for riders in early 2009 was the reintroduction of the Fletcher Pilates® lineage to Los Angeles. With the opening of The Pilates Bodyshop, she is creating the space she so longed for during her own journey. It is her privilege and honor to be teaching this work, evolved directly from Joseph and Clara Pilates, passed to Ron Fletcher, and now to her and her teachers.
PMA-CPT, Director of Fletcher Pilates®, International. A graduate of Duke University and a licensed massage therapist, she initiated her studies with Ron Fletcher in 1991 and founded Body Works Pilates studios in Tucson, Arizona in 1993. Recognized by Ron Fletcher as a Master Teacher and Disseminator, Kyria developed the Pilates Program at the University of Arizona where she serves as Adjunct Faculty. She is an international presenter and has served on the national boards for the Pilates Method Alliance, The University of Arizona School of Dance and the Foundation for Expanding Horizons.

The Fletcher Intensive Five Day Course
November 8-12; Enhance your professional teaching practice and develop your movement skills through our exclusive, 5-day Fletcher Pilates® Intensive Licensing Course. This in-depth experience provides the ideal way to learn, and become licensed to teach, the following unique Fletcher Pilates® techniques:
Fletcher Percussive Breath™
The Fletcher Towelwork, developed and refined by Pilates Master Ron Fletcher over the course of 4 decades, is a licensed body of work unique to the Fletcher Pilates Program of Study. It ranges from simple, yet effective, movements designed to balance, stabilize and mobilize the shoulder girdle and thoracic spine, to challenging and beautifully complex full-body movement patterns. The Fletcher Towelwork technique can be taught in standing, seated and supine positions.
The genesis of the Fletcher Floorwork® is based on Ron Fletcher's early studies with Joseph and Clara Pilates and Martha Graham. With a distinctive artistic flair, the Fletcher Floorwork® departs from the classic Pilates Matwork structure while staying true to the foundational Pilates Movement Principles. The basic mechanics of spinal articulation are developed through an exploration of breath, dimension, dynamic and quality of movement. Creativity within the presentation of material allows the teacher to continuously challenge students of all levels. This stimulus of change keeps the student's mind and body "at the ready."
The Fletcher Barrework™ program provides a systematic approach to teaching the Pilates Movement Principles in standing. Fletcher Barrework™ begins with basic leg and foot technique and lower hemisphere articulation, and progresses to an elegant movement syllabus with equal attention to precision and flowing motion. While ballet terminology is incorporated and clearly defined, the guiding intention of this work is to improve lower hemisphere movement articulation, core initiation and to bring the Pilates method to standing.
Pilates Bodyshop is the first and only studio in Los Angeles to use Pilates Metrics. As a client, your history and progress with Fletcher Pilates will be compiled and available for you to have and share with your health professionals and friends.
In The Studio
The Pilates Metrics iPad app improves the Pilates experience for instructors and clients. Instructors have client history and their preferred exercise library at their fingertips, allowing them to build targeted sessions for each client right on their iPad. The app uses a proprietary algorithm to instantly convert those sessions into anatomy and movement metrics, which can be shared with clients through visual data reports. Clients feel instant satisfaction about the session and see real progress as they build their repertoire.
Around The World
The Pilates Metrics app will network every Pilates studio in the world. As global usage of the app increases, anonymous data, with all personally identifying information removed, will be compiled and analyzed to optimize approaches to common ailments such as injuries, as well as musculoskeletal and neuromuscular issues. Instructors will soon be able to leverage the combined power of tech innovation and global Pilates intelligence to provide world class service to clients. Through the use of Pilates Metrics, the Pilates industry will create advanced data to prove the preventative health benefits of Pilates and "normalize" Pilates within the traditional health community.
