The Herbert Carruth House, built around 1877, is one of the landmark historic properties in the Ashmont section of Dorchester and overlooks one of the loveliest residential streets in Boston. Our property was built in the Victorian Second Empire style and is featured in three books on local history. We are in the process of renovating the Carruth House and restoring the exterior to its original appearance as time and resources allow. At Adams Village, within easy walking distance from Carruth House, are banks, restaurants, pubs, dry cleaner and laundry, barber, drug store, convenience stores, video store and other small retail establishments. All Saints Church, Ashmont, an internationally known Anglo-Catholic parish of the Episcopal Church featuring a renowned Choir of Men and Boys is three blocks away on Ashmont Street.
