Boston Comedy Festival
Start Time: 7pm. Boston Comedy Festival all stars picked from the galaxy of stars that have performed at the Boston Comedy Festival for almost two decades. Featuring: Hosted by Big Al: He is like the most delicious cocktail an audience has ever tasted. Imagine a Las Vegas lounge singer with killer jokes where the songs would be. Then, add a frenetic stream of consciousness, driven by a seemingly drug-induced pace. Sprinkle in a genuine love of the game. Now garnish with groovyness. Serve cool…..really cool Lamont Price: Lamont Price is a Boston Based Comedian and has been named Comedian of the year by the Boston Globe and the Boston Metro. He is a favorite at the Boston Comedy Festival Scotty host of the very popular Funny Bone Trivia. (A more adult and very local twist on the popular Pub Trivia game.) and SCAT show called 'Somerville the good ole' days. One of favorites! Jody Slone: For the past fifteen years Jody has honed her skills as a "sit down" comic working as a "Conducktor" for Boston Duck Tours. She created and developed her tour guide persona; Penny Wise, a tongue-in-cheek, saucy, southern belle. She has performed before an audience over 4000 times and still packs a fresh punch! Six years ago Jody took a "stand" bringing her act to venues throughout New England. She has been a three time contestant in the Boston Comedy Festival, performed in the Laugh Your Asheville Off Festival and was a Finalist in the Funniest Comic in New Hampshire Contest. Impishly perverse, her style is thoughtful, yet edgy; touching on age, divorce, and being raised by wolves. She'll have you convinced that in the darkest corners of truth is comedy. Chris Zito; Orlando Baxter. Get your ticket now this will be a hot ticket!

Genticorum - Great "Roots-Based" Music From Quebec
$24.80
Start Time: 4pm. Genticorum - with Elizabeth and Ben Anderson opening. I am constantly amazed at how much all of the great "roots-based" music forms are so much more enjoyed across those genres today. Well, this trio has long been one of my favorite Quebecois bands and their music moves me in ways that are similar to how I enjoy pure Celtic music. Over the past 18 years Genticorum has become a fixture on the international world, trad, folk and Celtic music circuit. Known for its energy and its stage presence, Genticorum has just released a new CD, which will be celebrated in style in this concert. Firmly rooted in the soil of their native land, the energetic and original traditional power trio also incorporates the dynamism of todays North American and European folk cultures in their music. They weave precise and intricate fiddle, flute and accordion work, gorgeous vocal harmonies, energetic foot percussion and guitar accompaniment into a big and jubilant musical feast. Their distinctive sound, sense of humour and stage presence makes them a supreme crowd pleaser.
Soulsha - Soulsha's Triumphant Return To the Burren Backroom Series
Start Time: 7:30pm. Soulsha brings together some of the Boston area's top musicians from backgrounds in Scottish, West African, and Funk music, for an unparalleled sound that's simultaneously a party, a revolution, and an adventure through different traditions. The band came together through chance meetings and connections in the thriving multi-cultural music scene of Boston. Though each of the members is deeply rooted in their respective traditions and they enjoy successful careers in those realms, they share a love of musical exploration, fusion, and breaking down the boundaries. "Being able to come from such different angles and put that experiment in front of an audience is really thrilling," says founding member Elias Alexander (vocals, bagpipes). "Every show we get to watch people's habitual associations vanish, until nothing is left but the pure joy of the music. No more separation." Doors are at 7pm. Showtime is 7:30pm. Dinner and drinks available at all tables. Please note: Tickets will be reserved for 12 minutes while you complete your purchase.

Erin Harpe & the Delta Swingers - Erin Harpe & the Delta Swingers Return To the Burren!
$12.00
Start Time: 7pm. "The Delta Swingers pull out all the stops with a decidedly old-school, raw-edged core and confidence that make this album easily an essential release. If you've yet to try this lady, you're in for a treat with 'Big Road'." –Blues Magazine (NL). "A guitar slinger for modern times. Easily Bonnie Raitt on modern performance enhancing drugs, Harpe is blues mama for our times." –Chris Spector, Midwest Record. "Erin Harpe is a knockout." –Robert Feuer, KGGV-Occidenta, CA. "Harpe is delightful. She creates a happy vibe reminiscent of Hot Tuna. This highly entertaining album is recommended for those discerning listeners looking for a really good time." –Richard Ludmerer, Making a Scene. Sean Tyrrell: Farewell Concert
$24.80
Start Time: 4pm. Sean Tyrrell bids us farewell. Sean is no stranger to the Burren Backroom wooing us with tales and songs about Irish American Heroes, Ghostly Hunters, crazy bombers, lonely lovers, and broken hearted travellers. One patron a few years agao, described him as "the Robert Johnson of Ireland." Can't wait to have him back with us. Sean has decided to pack in the often grueling grind of US touring and has quite frankly, like many, been worn down a little by the increasing difficulties in getting the right visas to perform here. But he has decided to give us a parting gift by coming back to perform in this hallowed space, one last time. Don't miss this legend as we bid him adieu. The Burren Backroom series is now well established as one of the great trad series in the world, and looks to create intimate, informal presentations held in the atmospheric space created by well-known traditional musicians Tommy and Louise McCarthy in Davis Square, Somerville, Masachusetts. Hosted by Brian O'Donovan of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH radio, these gatherings will feature core performers from many aspects of traditional music as well as special guests, and conversations around the music. As is the custom of the Burren, it is anticipated informal and dynamic post concert sessions will be a feature. There is a $5 discount for WGBH Members. Night Tree: New CD Release
$24.50
Start Time: 7:30pm. Night Tree's first CD release last year was a blockbuster and sold out. They have stayed the course, collaborated again with Seamus Egan and by their own description, have advanced dramatically in their artistic development. Inspired by their time together at New England Conservatory and by fiddler and Solas founder Win Horan, I remember going to see these guys first in a recital at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall and it was just jaw dropping. Taking a traditional base and using all of the chops, skills, and musical curiosity these six musicians had assembled, a unique sound was created. Such was the impact, that all of the professors and NEC in addition to Win herself and several others involved in music advised them to stay together, record an album and tour it. And that is precisely what they did then, and are doing again. Produced again by Seamus Egan, this new recording will be celebrated in their official CD release party as part of our series. Anything goes this night, and I just can't wait for the recording - and the celebration of it in Somerville. Hope you can join us for this one. The Burren Backroom series is now well established as one of the most sought-after boutique series of trad presentation in the world. It has already created already dozens of memorable, intimate, informal presentations held in a truly atmospheric space which was founded by well-known traditional musicians Tommy McCarthy and Louise Costello in Davis Square, Somerville, Massachusetts. Start Time: 7pm. Evan Goodrow could be a textbook definition of an indie artist in the new world. 2016 marked the arrival of his 13th recording, "Loyalty" with his own (EGB) Evan Goodrow Band "a cult Boston act that plays by it's own rules" that Charles La quidara of Boston's famous "Big Mattress" quotes "Loyalty might be their best yet." Evan's sound comes from a unique background in jazz and blues guitar but inspired by soul and mo-town singers. He sings soul, has won the Boston Blues Award, and even had several of his singles make it to the Top 10 Amazon Digital Download Charts. More importantly, he maintains an ongoing dialogue with his followers (just completed a fan funded marketing program for the new recording on Pledgemusic) and even spends time jamming with Jimmy Buffett in the Caribbean. Strange? Not considering a performance history with B.B, King, Los Lonely Boys, and Peter Frampton. MVY Radio loves them (the EGB has it's own channel). He's played concerts all over the world including appearances with B.B.King, Los Lonely Boys, Buddy Guy, and Peter Frampton, as well as recorded twelve of his own albums. Big stages, small stages, backyard weddings, boating events, function halls, corporate events, non-profits, even the Marathon Finish Line stage in his Boston hometown. Doors are at 6 pm. Chris Barron of the Spin Doctors
Start Time: 7pm. The zeitgeist is a moving target, and Chris Barron has always been a crack shot. The New York songwriter is no longer the debutant who set out on the circuit's sharp end in 1988 with $100, a battered acoustic and a headful of the alt-rock anthems that would elevate Spin Doctors to global stardom. He's a veteran approaching 50, living in a world changed beyond recognition, compelled to write the music that chronicles the here-and-now. As far back as he can remember, he's had a hunger driving him onward, towards something just out of reach. In 2017, it propels him to Angels and One-Armed Jugglers (due out October 20 on Chrysanthemum Records), the culmination of a lifetime's craft and a record both contemporary and classic. Doors are at 6pm. Showtime is 7pm. Dinner and drinks available at all tables. Please note: Tickets will be reserved for 12 minutes while you complete your purchase.

Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue - New Orleans Based Country Honky Tonk Band!
Start Time: 7:30pm. When the band formed in 2004, Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue were at the vanguard of New Orleans' now-thriving country scene, and they've remained in a league of their own ever since. Combining evocative songwriting and impeccable musicianship, their dance hall show and infectious energy on stage have earned them their place in the upper echelon of local favorites and helped grow an avid fan-base of two-steppers around the world. Sometimes called "The Punk Rock Patsy Cline", "The Gal" is Vanessa Niemann, an Appalachian-born songstress who has lent her powerful voice and magnetic stage presence to various musical projects in New Orleans and around the country. Over the years, the Revue has counted among its ranks some of the finest musicians in the region. The current roster boasts guitarists Matt Slusher and Justin LeCuyer in addition to drummer Rose Cangelosi, and upright bassist Corey McGillivary, all excellent songwriters and singers in their own right, adding tight harmonies to the sound. These multi-time Big Easy and Best of the Beat Award recipients have shared the stage with Willie Nelson, Marcia Ball, Blind Boys of Alabama, and countless others. 2018 was their eleventh year appearing at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, packing the Gentilly Stage where Lyle Lovett would perform later that day. Their albums have reached as high as third on the FAR Charts (Freeform American Roots Music) and the top 100 on the AMA Charts (Americana Airplay, Americana Music Association.) Gal Holiday continues to tour both within the U.S. and Internationally. After a successful European tour this past summer, the band returned home to make their newest release, Lost & Found. Recorded over four days in November 2017 at Dial Back Sound in Water Valley, MS, the album has a lush soundscape thanks to the bands' spirit guide and producer, Jimbo Mathus, and studio engineer, Bronson Tew. With an unmistakable Gulf Coast feel, Lost & Found touches on themes of loss, change, and discovery in twelve songs written by Vanessa, Rose, Justin and Jimbo. Although 2018 will be a tour heavy year, you can still find them raising a ruckus in New Orleans and surrounding areas at dance halls, festivals, and local watering holes most any day of the week. They know the ins and outs of the country canon and can even get folks swinging to an unexpected pop cover or two, but above all, vivid songwriting is one of the group's great strengths. Their rollicking foot-stompers and poignant Crescent City tributes alike crackle with an authentic country spirit. Armed with this kind of versatility and an ever-growing body of original material, they put on a show that never gets old, delighting rowdy dancers, buttoned-down diners, and new-to-country music listeners alike. New Orleans may be most closely associated with Jazz and Funk, but Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue prove that the city celebrates its musical diversity with enthusiasm. Doors are at 6pm. Showtime is 7:30pm. Dinner and drinks available at all tables. Please note: Tickets will be reserved for 12 minutes while you complete your purchase.

Máire Nà Chathasaigh & Chris Newman
$24.80
Start Time: 7:30pm. Returning after an amazing appearance in the series a couple of years ago, this will again be one of those "special" nights at the Burren. Máire is from a big musical family from my area of Ireland, West Cork. (Nollaig Casey is her sister.) Her husband Chris is just an outstanding, creative guitarist, and together they simply rock live performances. Opening for Mairead and Chris will be a new group to the series. Ceol Corvus is a trio of Boston-area musicians who have long been immersed in the Boston/New England Irish music scene. Their style evokes the classic sound of the traditional Irish session -- something with which they are all very well-acquainted -- while drawing on influences and inspiration from the great Irish music revival of the past several decades. The Burren Backroom series is now well established as one of the most sought-after boutique series of trad presentation in the world. Michelle Lewis CD Release - Celebrate the Release of "All That's Left!"
Start Time: 7pm. On her third studio album, All That's Left, Michelle Lewis explores the far edges of joy and sadness. It's a personal history served through loss and love. An artist's third album often carries the weariness of having already said everything. Yet Michelle's third work shines, a testament to her great skill at perception. As she's grown as a songwriter so too has her ability to elevate a detail from anecdote to allegory. The result is an intense collection of ten tracks, a journey in transformation from regret to compassion, coming to rest upon a sort of sweetness available only to those who truly care. If only we could all love so deeply, feel such warmth, deliver such grace in woe. As she mourns loss, celebrates love, and confronts guilt, the album weaves an emotional journey, conveyed in vivid flashes of sorrow and garnished with comic turns of forbearance. Yet rather than feeling haphazard, the album gathers upon the many consequences of devotion. Michelle has spun together all the relationships that matter and the effect is a good cry followed by a good laugh. Michelle wrote this album with her ears open. "Scars" explores a life story she learned about her grandmother only after losing her. Lyrics on "Please Don't Go" were words of comfort overheard during another period of great pain. "Sometimes the songs are already written, you just have to listen," she said. Interestingly, the album features a cover of "Dancing In The Dark," a first for Michelle who to date had recorded only original compositions on her albums. "Years ago a friend gave me a copy of Nebraska. When I heard that album I realized that although Bruce Springsteen had been in front of a rock band for years, he's really a folk singer," she said. "His songs are so relatable and heart wrenching." The album's first single, "Push On," is a duet co-written with Nashville singer/songwriter Robby Hecht. The song shares a timely message of determination, delivered in Michelle's plaintive vocal style, both heartwarming and heartbreaking. "There are times in everyone's life when we feel like we can't go on, whether it's physically, mentally, or both. 'Push On' is about overcoming those everyday and long-term struggles we all have," said Michelle. "It's about being lost, physically broken down, but then fighting through it." The album ends on a affectionate note, with "Lay On My Pillow," a velvet blanket of comfort sung softly and sweetly. It's a comforting final thought, a return safely home. She sings, "Give me your life / I'll give you mine / Stay with me darling we'll be fine." The album is a continuation of Michelle's long term collaboration with the production team of Anthony J. Resta (Duran Duran) and Karyadi Sutedja. Featured cello is played by Cameron Stone (Game of Thrones) and piano by Ruslan Sirota (Josh Groban). Doors are at 6pm. Showtime is 7pm. Dinner and drinks available at all tables. Please note: Tickets will be reserved for 12 minutes while you complete your purchase.

Rebetoparea - Klezmer Music From Greece!
Start Time: 4pm. Rebetiko is an infectious genre. Although there is no consensus on a definition, one may describe Rebetiko as songs that express the musical folklore of the urban centers and, in particular, the urban population that lived in the margins of society, which included various groups of the underworld who engaged in illegal activities such as smuggling, hustling, gambling and prostitution, and who frequented the smoke dens. Its origin is still uncertain, but many place it in the port cities of the Eastern Mediterranean such as Smyrna (Izmir), Constantinople (Istanbul), Thessaloniki, Piraeus, and Alexandria of the late 1800's and early 1900's. Throughout the years Rebetiko endured defamation, persecution and censorship, but during the period from the 1920's to mid 1950's it was able to evolve from a marginal music to a popular Greek music embraced by generations, and to become the source of inspiration for contemporary composers and musicians.
