Sumi-e (Japanese Ink Painting)
All levels welcome. Explore sumi-e, the ancient art of Japanese ink painting. Learn the history of this art form and how to use the special painting tools. Paint subjects from nature using simple brush strokes. Sumi-e is more than technique, it is a spiritual journey.
For intermediate students, this class explores the many techniques involved in taking ideas from conception to the completion of wearable metal art. Individual students' skills will be expanded as we delve into sawing, soldering, riveting, texturing, stone-setting, and fold forming.
Develop strong drawing skills for botanical art. In this class we will draw from live plants and photographs. Line, values, proportion, and composition will be explored. In addition learn how to enhance your illustrations with colored pencil, pen, and ink.
