*The Howell Mountain Appellation is located at 2000 feet above level. Due to this altitude, the bud break in spring is certainly later than on the Napa Valley floor. The temperatures are also cooler during the day and a little warmer at night. The soils are predominately volcanic. There is mountain fruit and then there is Howell Mountain fruit!
