Taste of Saigon is a family-owned restaurant that has been serving the Washington, D.C.-area since 1990. The restaurant was established by the Tu family, who fled South Vietnam at the end of the war in 1975. Then, as refugees, they relied on their close-knit family ties and their shared work ethic to rebuild their lives. Led by Ma Tu, the family matriarch, the family worked together to realize their American dream. They strived to open a restaurant – much like the one Ma Tu had once owned in Saigon. Hoping to share their home-style cooking traditions with their new country, they worked for 15 years to open Taste of Saigon in Maryland.
