Cara Benson grew up in New Orleans, LA. After graduating from Loyola University she moved to Manhattan to attend the pastry program at The French Culinary Institute. This is where she would meet her future husband. Evan was in the savory program and happened to be living on Roosevelt Island in the co-ed apartment where Cara would be living. After discovering their similar passion for food, Cara and Evan were soon an item. After graduation, Cara and Evan moved to the Lower East Side and worked in New York restaurants for the next year. Like many New Orleanians, Cara grew homesick and easily convinced Evan to move home with her. They were married in Jackson Square and currently live in Algiers Point with their 3 year old son, Teller. Evan is the executive chef of Joel's and helps with Tartine. After three and half years at Muriel's Jackson Square, Cara resigned as the Pastry Chef to follow her dream.
