CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. Using a soft touch which is generally no greater than five grams – about the weight of a nickel – your practitioner releases restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system. CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and it's effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction
When trauma or injury surface, the fascia, a thin connective tissue covering the entire body, becomes restricted tightening the muscles it envelops. This tightening prevents the muscle belly from being able to expand or contract naturally. This work aims to lengthen the fascia again, facilitating relief through release
Detoxifying Lymphatic Massage
Lymphatic Massage aims to stimulate the lymphatic system to remove congestion and stagnation from within the body, and help it return to a healthy condition. This treatment utilizes gentle massage strokes that remove blockages and promotes proper lymph flow. This technique is ideal (and often Doctor prescribed) to increase healing time) for pre and post operative patients, whether the procedure is large or small. Lymphatic detoxification is also great for the athlete or anyone who is interested in a systematic reboot
Pregnancy or Postpartum Massage
From prior to conception and throughout your pregnancy, your Certified pregnancy therapist will not only relax the aches and pains of your changing body but, by using a variety of specially developed techniques, can prepare your body for its best during childbirth. And after giving birth, a Postpartum Massage can aid in your body's readjustment, diminish scar tissue and be a pleasant respite after all your hard work
Developed by Fritz Smith, MD in the early 1970s, Zero Balancing is a powerful body-mind therapy that uses skilled touch to address the relationship between energy and structures of the body. Following a protocol that typically lasts 30 to 45 minutes, the practitioner uses finger pressure and gentle traction on areas of tension in the bones, joints and soft tissue to create fulcrums, or points of balance, around which the body can relax and reorganize. Zero Balancing focuses primarily on key joints of our skeleton that conduct and balance forces of gravity, posture and movement. By addressing the deepest and densest tissues of the body along with soft tissue and energy fields, Zero Balancing helps to clear blocks in the body's energy flow, amplify vitality and contribute to better postural alignment. A Zero Balancing session leaves you with a wonderful feeling of inner harmony and organization
Mantra massage therapists KC Taylor & Jacqueline Gorton are also certified Reiki practitioners. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. Reiki utilizes a technique called palm or hands-on healing. Through the use of this technique, practitioners transfer universal energy (i.e. Reiki) in the form of qi (Japanese: ki) through the palms. The movement of this energy allows for self-healing and the restoration of equilibrium in the energetic body

Amy Hogan Studio Mantra Co-Founder, Amy Hogan, is excited to bring her passion for yoga and healthy lifestyle to the community of Northwest Austin. Amy's love of yoga began in 2000 in Charleston, South Carolina. Shortly after graduating college in Mississippi, Amy moved to Charleston and started her career in corporate sales. After attending a Beginner Yoga class at her neighborhood studio in Charleston, Holy Cow Yoga, she was immediately drawn to all the wonderful benefits of the practice. Amy initially started doing yoga as a way to decompress after a stressful workday, but soon realized that the practice of yoga is very deep and she became eager to learn more. Shortly after moving to Austin with her family in 2011, Amy gave up the corporate world in order to spend time with her family and dive deeper into yoga. She soon decided to obtain her 200-hour teacher certification through Yoga Yoga of Austin, and shortly after started her company, Total Balance Yoga, which brought yoga to local businesses. In March 2016, Amy started pursuing her advanced studies in Boulder, Colorado with internationally-recognized yogi/teacher & co-founder of 90 Monkeys Educational Studio, Amy Ippoliti. 90 Monkeys is an online and in-person educational resource for yoga professionals. The goal of 90 Monkeys is to provide yoga instructors and studios the tools to motivate new yoga students and keep existing yogis inspired to continue practicing. Amy H. is inspired by Amy I.'s belief that "more people doing yoga equates to more conscious changes in people and improved well-being; thus, leading to more positive change in the world!" By linking breath with movement, Amy H. inspires students to be the best versions of themselves while taking their practice to the next level. She caters to students of all levels & abilities and ensures that all feel welcome and comfortable. Amy's students can expect a challenging, (yet heartfelt!) upbeat flow set to strategically selected music. Her teaching style is influenced by the modern teachings of Amy Ippoliti, Sadie Nardini, Kathryn Budig, Stephanie Snyder, Jason Crandell, and Seane Corne. Amy has spent time studying with Sadie Nardini in New York City. She's passionate about Sadie's signature style of yoga, Core Strength Vinyasa, which helps students obtain a total body-mind transformation from the inside out. Amy believes that how you show up on your mat is directly related to how you live your life outside the studio. When she's not teaching or hanging out at Mantra, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Chris, and her two precious children Heath (8) and Harper (4). She's committed to being a lifelong student of yoga and continues her education by attending local workshops and teacher trainings with influential teachers in Austin and around the country
Studio Manager & Instructor, Laura is passionate about helping her students feel safe, accepted, and connected in their yoga practice. In class, she offers strong alignment work through dynamic sequencing and breath awareness in hopes that this awareness can lead students to a deeper understanding of their inner selves. Students can expect a lighthearted, integrated, & informed yoga practice with Laura. Laura hails from Northwest Alabama, and spent several years in Chattanooga, Tennessee before she and her husband Josh moved to Austin in 2012. She has enjoyed creating jewelry for many years (offered in the Studio Mantra retail lounge!) and is also known to enjoy a good hike, a leisurely dinner party, and spending time with her two naughty dogs, Poppy the Boxer and Bess the Cow Dog. Laura recently completed her advanced studies with Christina Sell and Gioconda Parker at the San Marcos School of Yoga thru the Alchemy of Flow & Form 300 hour intensive teacher training program. She is incredibly proud of and blessed by the lineage and learning community created and supported by her teachers. She completed her initial 200-Hour Hatha Flow training in 2013 through Yoga Yoga here in Austin. Laura also holds two degrees from Auburn University: BA in Art and BSBA in Marketing-War Eagle! Laura shares her love of yoga in many weekly public classes as well as through offering workshops and class series
Chad has been practicing yoga for 12 years and is a 350-hour certified instructor from Dharma Yoga in Austin. Chad's first experience with yoga came in 2004, when he attended a pre-natal class with his daughter Marley's mother. With no expectation or idea of what yoga actually was, he stepped onto the mat, breathed, moved, sweated, humbled, and slowly began to recognize that the answers all lie within. After fumbling through the corporate media machine in NYC for 13 years, yoga was always his rock, and he settled in Austin to further develop his own practice, teach, and continue to strive for happiness. Marley was with him at his first yoga class, and he is comforted knowing that she's in his heart every time he steps onto his mat. He believes that mindfulness on the mat prepares us for both life's treasures and trials off the mat. He feels that when we crack open our body, mind, and spirit, the universe exposes itself so we can come home to our true Self. His classes are offered to all levels, blending Sukha (ease) and Stirra (effort), so that students can breathe into any tight space on the mat, but importantly, off the mat. Leaning in to both expansion and edginess is critical, and he provides space for students to explore their own practice with mindfulness to arrive at their highest Selves
Janice Samuelson Harimandir Kaur
I believe that yoga opens us up to the possibilities of discovering the true self. As a young child Janice has always loved movement and full expression, whether in dance or theater. When she moved to Austin in 1979 she discovered the practice of Yoga and fell in love with it! This began the journey to the heart and a healing path that continues to grow today. Practicing now for over thirty years she brings her love of the gift of Yoga on and off the mat. She combines the energy of healing with playfulness to guide her students. Janice received her 200-hour Hatha teacher training for the Yoga Institute of Houston and 100 hour from Dharma Yoga Austin. Janice also teaches Kundalini Yoga with her 300 hour teacher training as taught by Yogi Bhajan. She has studied Gong therapy with Mehtab Benton and Siri Bahadur Singh. Janice has also studied Sat Nam Rasayan with Guru Dev Singh. She has also lead workshops for Kundalini and healing addictions, as well as Pranayama. With her love of music and sound her students can enjoy the healing benefits of Tibetan sound therapy. Her background with children started when her son was four years old. Shannon is a busy and active wife and mother. She is a graduate of the University of Texas - Austin, where she majored in history and minored in biology. She has always had a passion for health and fitness, which she shares with her entire family. It was through a round about way that she discovered Pilates and it's amazing benefits. After the birth of her second child, she was inspired to start long distance running when her mother completed a marathon. Shannon ran several half marathons in the next couple of years, but began to experience injuries from her training. Shannon sought help from doctors and PTs, but it was only after meeting her mentor, Amanda Vernor and beginning Pilates sessions that she finally found relief from the pain. Through Pilates Shannon discovered a life-long program that helps her maintain her active lifestyle. Shannon recently concluded her 600-hours in the Somaspace Teacher Training Program, where she is an apprentice and will graduate in the coming weeks
Tracy moved to Austin from Denver and has found a warm place to call home. She began working in the fitness profession in 1997 as the director of a children's gymnastics center. In 2001 she moved on to become a program director for Pilates, which is also where she was reintroduced to Yoga, inspiring her to learn more. Shortly thereafter, she completed her certification at the 200 hour level and became registered through The Yoga Alliance, RYT. Tracy started teaching Vinyasa and Hatha classes until she began a new role in life as a mom, leading to her certification in prenatal Yoga. She completed her prenatal certification with Leslie Lytle in 2005. Tracy began teaching prenatal classes incorporating a "flow" like style. Then, in 2006 she was blessed to embark on the same journey as her students, teaching prenatal Yoga flow, while pregnant with her second son and again in 2010, pregnant with her 3rd child, a daughter. Tracy's fun loving teaching style is that of rhythm and flow, influenced greatly by the teachings of B. K. S. Iyengar, Shiva Rea & Ana Forrest. She encourages her students to fluidly move through Vinyasa while deepening postures and finding ease through the effort. Tracy looks to her students for inspiration, personalizing each class she teaches. Tracy, her husband, two boys, daughter and puppy dogs all love life in Austin. She credits Yoga with giving her the energy, balance, and peace to keep up with all of them

Melodee has been excited about fitness from the age of 13 when she started working out in her brother's homemade gym. She started teaching aerobics at the age of 18 in Elmira N.Y. and after moving to Corpus Christi, Texas she got her aerobic teaching certification through AFAA. Melodee's enthusiasm for fitness led her to continue her education through attending various workshops in kickboxing, body sculpting, step aerobics, and nutrition. While studying Exercise Physiology at Texas A&M in Corpus Christi she started her private personal training company called FIT. After transferring to UT Austin to study Nutrition she continued training in corporate, gym, and private settings. Trying to find a way of teaching that she could maintain for a lifetime, Melodee experimented with yoga and then found Pilates; she fell in love. Melodee met and started training with world renowned teacher Wendy Arbuckle and completed an intense 500-hour program with Wendy. Through her mentor she learned to help people connect movement, mind and body. She explored Aston Patterning, Alexander Technique and other forms of movement tools. Melodee maintained Fit Pilates and personal training, opening a studio and teaching fitness seminars locally and internationally. After her second daughter was born she found the Callanetics Method and Barre Method which helped her return to a fit and strong body. In 2013 Melodee had twin boys and is now returning to the fitness world, excited to share what she has learned and help others accomplish their ultimate level of fitness and body awareness in a more mindful way
I believe yoga can help everyone feel better, and be more fully engaged and effective in all areas of life, both personal and professional. Lisa has been teaching Yoga for over 10 years. She completed her first RYT training with Yogafit, whose mission is to "bring Yoga to the masses." That began an on-going journey to explore all that Yoga has to offer, leading to further studies, and then teaching, in Kundalini, Yoga Nidra and pre and post-natal yoga. She has had the privilege of studying with Donna Farhi, Sean Corne, Richard Miller, Amy Weintraub and Sarah Powers. Lisa's passion is helping regular people discover and explore yoga to create space and ease in the mind, body and heart. She believes that your yoga practice will meet you where you are on the path, and that is different for everyone. It is her intention that everyone will feel "comfortably challenged" in her classes, and honor themselves by taking care where they need to and finding their edge where they choose to. Lisa hopes that students will carry their practice off their mats and into their lives

Jordan began practicing yoga in 2008 and completed her RYT-200 in 2013. Since then, she has received additional certifications in yoga, Pilates, and barre and gone on to guide thousands of students by leading public classes, corporate health workshops, and private lessons for both individuals and groups. She continues to draw inspiration from many mentors and resources, and as her knowledge and experience expands, her passion for people and for wellness also grows – as does her reverence for the incredible human body and spirit. Her mission is to empower you to connect to your potential – to be your best, most vibrant self. She considers it a privilege and a joy to encourage and hold space for other people. While her content is often upbeat and sometimes challenging, her natural style will always remain nurturing and playful. She respects that everyBODY is unique and it's important for you to listen to your body and move in a way that nourishes you. Jordan believes that movement is supposed to be fun and that kindness, inner connection, and intention are the most important parts of any growth journey. If those are well-established, the rest will flow naturally
Since childhood, Kim has been fascinated by the seemingly endless ways that our bodies can express beauty and strength. Whether through gymnastics, dance, sports, or yoga, she believes that connecting to our physical bodies can help us uncover our potential and align with our true inner selves. Kim began taking ballet at the age of 7, and it quickly became the center of her childhood. She danced with a ballet company throughout high school and taught ballet classes during her college years. Kim was first drawn to yoga in 2001 during the stressful, sleep-deprived years of graduate school. She has been practicing various styles of yoga ever since, and her practice has helped keep her focused and centered through her relocations from Texas to California to Minnesota to South Carolina and finally, in 2014, back home to Texas. She has taught yoga classes since completing her yoga teacher training in 2013 and barre classes since 2014. When she is not teaching or working her full-time job as a clinical forensic psychologist, she enjoys spending time with her husband, reading, and traveling
Nicole is a yoga teacher whose passion lies in sharing the teachings of yoga as a way to explore ourselves more fully and to shift the way we offer ourselves in all aspects of our lives. For Nicole, the practice serves as a steady reminder of the importance of slowing down and the power of connection. Her gift as a teacher is her ability to create felt experiences that connect emotionally with her students, helping them to tune in to the wisdom of their own experiences both on and off their mats. Nicole's classes are a thoughtful blend of steady, awareness-based movement blended with purposeful moments of pause and reflection. Nicole creates and leads classes and workshops throughout Austin and has presented at conferences such as SXSW. A devoted student who has been teaching and living yoga for nearly 6 years, Nicole was formally trained through Sukha Yoga in Austin, and has continued to pursue training and certifications in yin yoga, subtle body anatomy, somatics and trauma-informed teaching. She is grateful for all of the teachers along her path. Her primary teachers and influences today are Elena Brower and Seane Corn, whom she travels to study with annually
When she was a little girl, Alex wanted to be a pop star. But that didn't work out, so she became a yoga instructor instead. It's a pretty sweet gig. She enjoys dancing around the room to her own beat and creating a family out of every person she meets. She tries not to take herself too seriously, and she might make you laugh. Alex received her 200-hour certification from Nadi Yogi in 2014 and has been teaching ever since. Her classes are dynamic flows blended with relaxing restorative postures, carefully designed to help the student flourish and access their best self. In her spare time, Alex is an devoted outdoorswoman, serious puppy parent, an artist of sorts, and a writer
Angelene believes there is a beautifully symbiotic relationship between the micro experience on the mat and the macro experience of our larger daily lives. She centers her classes around intentional practices to assist her students to draw their focus inward and upward. Working with breath and alignment to help students learn to feel and listen deeply to their bodies, observing what arises on the mat so that they can recognize those patterns within that allow for personal growth off the mat. Her wish for her students is that they take the spaciousness and compassion they cultivate in the sacred studio space out with them to inform their daily lives and their relationships to those around them. Angelene first taught yoga soon after discovering her love of the practice while living in California in 2000. She taught for several years in CA and Seattle, while also working in the technology world as a software project manager and becoming a mom. After moving to Austin in early 2016, she has been delving much deeper into Yogic studies, completing a 200 hour training with Sukha Yoga and she will complete her 500 hour training with Eastside Yoga in June of 2018. She also has an MA in Literature and is always up to talk books or give and take recommendations for a new read! She lives with her husband, teenage son, boxer dog and two quirky cats
KC's first connection to Kundalini yoga was in his late teens. While living in Big Sur, California one spring he attended a May pole party. With the backdrop of the majestic redwoods & cliffs meeting the Pacific Ocean, the heady vibes of the gathering were raised and expanded when a local Gong master and Kundalini instructor did an hours-long gong bath. From that point in time, he knew he had a connection to this mystical and powerful practice of Kundalini Yoga. The Connection came into fruition when KC moved to Austin, where there is a large and vibrant Kundalini yoga community. After several years of developing his own practice he took the 200-hour teacher training at Yoga Yoga here in Austin. KC brings his passion for the technology of Kundalini to every class. He is continually inspired by the way that Kundalini Yoga is able to strengthen the nervous system, mind, body and intuitive self. KC is also a licensed massage therapist and a Reiki practitioner here at Studio Mantra

Shoulder Clinic with Allison Bond
Sunday, April 15th, 12:30-3:30 p.m. Allison Bond's Shoulder Clinic addresses neck and shoulder tension caused by everyday posture and movement. It will also address common complaints and common injuries of the shoulder and explain how to create balance in the joint. Key concepts will be revealed and demonstrated on the mat for an active practice that will stabilize your shoulder joints and cultivate the structural integrity, strength and mobility needed to reduce shoulder and neck stress. Yoga beginners and advanced practitioners alike will walk away with enough information to develop a daily home practice to cultivate the strength, structural integrity and mobility needed for happy and healthy necks and shoulders. Allison Bond is a visiting teacher Pralaya Yoga in Houston, Texas. After many years of dance training in the early part of her life, she found the dynamics of yoga nurturing, empowering and familiar. But osteoarthritis, a labral hip tear and scoliosis brought pain and fear to her part-time practice. Despite her physician's advice, she listened to her intuition and began practicing the Pralaya method, learning intricate details of how the body works and was able to practice again pain-free. Allison began to realize the knowledge and wisdom, spiritually and physically, that followed every practice and every lecture she attended. She sought over 1000 hours of training with Robert Boustany, Andrew Dugas, Diane Long, Ana Forrest and other highly skilled teachers, bringing her deeper and deeper into the experience of her body and spirit on the mat. Now she passes that wisdom along to others for physical and emotional freedom. Allison has taught more than 3,000 hours to professional athletes, children, injured and people dealing with everyday stress, alike. She focuses on body mechanics, alignment and bringing strength and ease onto the mat. Her students leave feeling replenished, happy and balanced. Our most prevalent class on the schedule, Vinyasa Flow is meant to meet all of your yoga needs. We'll practice syncing movement to breath, creating a moving meditation in practice. Studio Mantra teachers will lead you through this vigorous flow with many options to mellow-out or ramp-up your practice depending on your needs. Expect to get centered, move through an upbeat practice, and get your sweat on! It's the perfect way to start your day at sunrise, catch some "you time" during your lunch hour, or finish your day with a centered practice! We suggest Beginners take our Align and Slow Flow classes prior to experiencing Vinyasa Flow.
Studio Mantra's unique Sculpt class is a Vinyasa Flow class that incorporates hand weights and other props to add an element of strength-building and FUN to your practice! Students will work to sculpt and tone every major muscle group while moving through familiar yoga postures. This whole body workout is set to energizing tunes that will motivate you to get to that glorious, peaceful savasana at the end of class. Mantra Sculpt is an excellent addition and compliment to a regular Yoga practice. Expect lots of core work, lunges, Warriors, bicep/tricep curls...and tons of fun!
Sometimes you just need to slow it down. Enjoy this flow-based class where Studio Mantra teachers will link breath with movement in a way that invites deep stretching and exploration. Take the time to simply be a mindful, moving, breathing body…you can thank yourself after!
Yoga Align is Studio Mantra's "nerdy hatha" yoga class, inspired by the alignment work in the Iyengar and Anusara yoga systems. We will slow down the class pace and break down safe alignment for postures, introduce yoga benefits, and focus on our sense of self-awareness. In Yoga Align, poses will be held a bit longer than in a flow class to lengthen & strengthen muscles and to balance the mind/body connection. Align is a progressive, mixed-levels class; teachers will offer modifications and time to play with more challenging poses.
Gentle Yoga is a slow-paced, beginner-friendly Hatha Yoga class. It is appropriate for all levels of students, including those working with limitations. Join us for this practice aimed at gentle stretching and meditative movement.
Mantra Mellow is the perfect blend of gentle yoga, yin yoga, restorative yoga, & meditation. This class offers you the opportunity to experience the practice of yoga in a welcoming and relaxed space. Together, we will move through a grounding practice to bring you into connection with your center.
Kundalini is a dynamic form of yoga, known as the Yoga of Awareness. This style of yoga combines breath work, movement, meditation and mantra to energize the body and bring clarity to the mind. Kundalini creates a body, mind and spirit that is full of vitality and increased consciousness. Studio Mantra's Kundalini class is appropriate for practitioners of all levels.
Each Thursday morning, Studio Mantra's yoga instructors will share in leading our community in a free, donation-based offering of mantra and meditation. Our half hour together will be spent in centering, learning & chanting mantra, and closing with a few sweet moments in meditation. Donations will benefit a different charity or non-profit organization each month.
Mantra Fit is a high-energy class that adds cardio (and sweat!) to your regular practice! This vigorous class is designed to work every major muscle group and is a powerful complement to any workout ritual. Mantra Fit adds a strength-building component for yogis and also provides a welcome change of pace for regular gym-goers. Enjoy this challenging, muscle-toning workout with the added benefit of increasing flexibility and stilling the mind.
Following a classical Pilates approach, this class focuses on the basic Pilates principles of concentration, centering, control, breathing, and precision to strengthen the Powerhouse, correct alignment, improve posture, and create length and strength in the body. You will be guided through the classical mat choreography with an emphasis on precision and control. You will see your practice progress with every class. This class is accessible to beginners while also challenging experienced Pilates practitioners.
Our signature Mantra Barre class offers sequences uniquely designed by Studio Mantra teachers to offer you a creative blend of breath-work, Yoga and fiery Barre moves.
