Critical Alignment Therapy Level I
Monday 10:30am, Friday 7:30am. Instructor: Theresa Evans ; With a focus on releasing the superficial movement muscles in order to access and strengthen the deeper postural (core) muscles, C.A.T. asks us to explore areas of chronic tension that we carry in our bodies. Once aware of these areas, using specialized props, the breath, and movement, we can begin to free ourselves from this tension and cultivate a greater sense of relaxation, strength, and stability. The class will begin on the Back Strip, followed by the Back Roll and/or work on the Arches. This practice is suitable for all levels from complete beginner to advanced students. This practice is especially beneficial for those suffering from chronic back, hip, shoulder and neck pain, as well as those looking for a deeper sense of peacefulness both mentally and physically.
Critical Alignment Therapy Level II
Monday 8am, Friday 7:30am, Wednesdays 7:30am at Nelson Healing Center in Sturgeon Bay. Instructor: Theresa Evans ;During this class we will incorporate Critical Alignment, Therapeutic Yoga and Somatics as we explore how to move into various asanas with spaciousness and ease. The class will begin on the Back Strip, followed by the Back Roll and/or work on the Arches. The second part of the class will focus on somatic movements that will complement the asanas (postures). The last section of the class will be a gentle flow of asanas that mobilize our spine in all directions. This class is suitable for those who are familiar with the props of C.A.T. and the basic beginning yoga asanas.
Restorative/Therapeutic
Thursday 5:30 pm. Instructor: Theresa Evans ; This gentle practice asks us to take time to relax and restore. We will begin to relieve the effects of chronic stress using props to support us in holding postures as well as somatic movements that ask us to explore in a quiet and gentle way. These movements, in combination with a focus on the breath will allow us to move the spine in all directions as we relax deeply. Deep relaxation lets us rest without effort, without movement and with a quiet mind. This practice is suitable for, and will benefit all levels including those with no experience and those dealing with pain and injuries.
Soma-Yoga for Chronic Pain
Thursday 10:30 am, Wednesday 4:30-6pm at Nelson Healing Center in Sturgeon Bay. Instructor: Theresa Evans ; Muscles can become chronically contracted from over-use. Physical and/or emotional stress, injury, and trauma all contribute to imbalances in the body. Years of adjusting to these changes can lead to pain in the neck, back, hips, knees, shoulders, etc. Eventually these chronic contractions and pain cause sciatica, scoliosis, carpal tunnel, disc degeneration, arthritis, fatigue, and other structural and functional problems. Somatics is geared for folks who are in pain or want to stay out of pain. Using the techniques of Somatics we will work to un-do these imbalances and improve your quality of life. We will use the breath to stimulate the para-sympathetic nervous system and shift the body from a state of stress to a state of relaxation. Muscles are released, relaxed and balanced through the use of somatic movements. These movements ask us to focus the brain specifically on the contracted muscles and movement patterns. This simple process can undue years of chronic tension and pain. This practice is suitable for all levels. **There is one table available for someone wanting to take this class but unable to get up and down from the floor.
INDO Board Yoga
Tuesday 8am. This class is not suitable for those dealing with injuries. If you are curious or not sure if this class is for you, please talk to me about it before signing up. Instructor: Theresa Evans ; The Indo Yoga Board simulates yoga that is practiced on Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUP), which is yoga performed in a body of water on a SUP board. The Indo Yoga Board has an all wood deck that has four rockers attached to the bottom. For a more advanced progression you can place three (3) inflatable Indo Board IndoFLO cushions under the deck. Varying the level of inflation of the three IndoFLO cushions also allows for progression or regression based on the user's level of ability and experience. The Indo Yoga Board is designed to add instability much like the popular Stand Up Paddle Yoga, SUP Yoga or Paddle Board Yoga. The Indo Yoga Board is great for Yoga Core Training and improving balance. This class will prepare us to practice on Stand Up Paddle Boards as soon as the water is warm enough!
Gentle SomaYoga
Monday 5:30pm. This class will include lying, sitting, kneeling, and standing. If you have difficulty with any of these positions, speak to me beforehand so we can plan how to support you during your practice. Instructor: Theresa Evans ; This class will begin on the Back Strip followed by some opening Somatic movements. During the second half of the class we will practice simple Asanas (postures) that will include standing and seated sequences. We will end the class with a Restorative pose supported by gentle breath work that will lead us into final resting pose or Savasana.

Introduction
Theresa Evans
Nestled in the heart of Door County and surrounded by nature,
Stone Path Yoga Studio provides a sanctuary that has brought peace and serenity to many students seeking a practice whose focus includes wellness, restoration and peace.
Believing strongly in the mind-body connection, I began my journey to yoga by first sitting quietly and establishing a meditation practice.
When you allow yourself to really observe your mind, you quickly realize how crazy our minds are! The beauty of sitting quietly is that you can take that awareness with you into day-to-day life, into your practice, and learn to pause before you react or push your way through. Quickly you realize that it is your 'day-to-day' life that provides the backdrop for your yoga practice to flourish.
Rather than focusing on the outward appearance of the pose, students practicing at Stone Path Yoga are invited to embrace the process.
Moving from the inside-out. Using the specialized props of Critical Alignment Therapy (a hatha based therapeutic approach) and Somatics (a movement practice based on careful observation from within), students of all levels are encouraged to practice in a mindful way that is appropriate for their body and functionality.

Stone Path Yoga is excited to welcome Carol Hoehn back to teach
Tai chi daoyin twice weekly!! Beginning the week of June 16th. Tai chi daoyin is a set of exercises practiced by the ancient Daoists to cultivate Qi for health and meditational enhancement. It is considered the precursor of Qigong. Suitable for all, tai chi daoyin combines integrated physical movement, mental cultivation and regulated breathing to strengthen different internal organs and their corresponding body systems. It is related to, but not the same as tai chi chuan, which emphasizes the martial.
The session is off to a great start and I can't wait until Carol joins us.
I took two of her classes last summer and really loved them! This practice is very complementary to the nature of the classes here at Stone Path Yoga.
I need some feedback ...
I have limited funds for advertising and I was thinking of the best way to use them. Word of mouth is always the best and that is how most people have found their way to the studio - thank you!
I was thinking of creating the worlds most beautiful bumper sticker (actually, my talented friend Thom would do the creating).
I would need to sell these for $5 to recoup my output. So that is my question - would you purchase the worlds most beautiful bumper sticker and help folks find their way to Stone Path Yoga Studio? Thank you for your input!

Stand-up Paddle Board (SUP) Yoga
Classes will be held at Stone Path Yoga on Indoor Balance Boards in the case of inclement weather. June 24 - August 29th, Tuesday 8-9:30am & Saturday 8-9:30am.

Stone Path Yoga is happy to collaborate with
Bayshore Outdoor Store in this fun adventure as we explore some of the simple yoga asanas (postures) on Stand Up Paddle Boards - and YES - we will be doing this on the water!!
When practicing SUP Yoga - the board is your mat,
and nature is your focus point. Expect a full-body workout all while using your core to avoid falling off the board. Experience the soothing motion of resting in Savasana at the end of your practice floating on the water.
When standing on a paddle board we must keep toes facing forward,
feet at hip distance apart, a soft bend at the knees and chest upright - and breathing is always a good thing! Come with your childlike mind - ready to play, fall into the water, get back up, laugh, cultivate your ability to focus, and strengthen your core.
This class is suitable for all levels.
Water will only be waist high. We will be learning the basics of Paddle Boarding from a trained SUP expert from Bayshore Outdoor Store.
