Here is a brief description of the techniques, or modalities, used during a session.
Energy medicine
Energy medicine is a term used to describe working within the biomagnetic field or vibration that surrounds all living matter. It is believed that the smooth flow of this field is the predeterminer of good health. The goal of energy work is a return to order of the eletromagnetic frequencies of the subtle body energies. It is believed that diseases and disorders alter the eltromagnetic properties of molecules, cells, tissues, and organs. Energy medicine challenges the defense and repair systems to respond by introducing a signal that cancels a discordant or pathological frequency that is disturbing the body. The signal can come from the various techniques, including Chelation, Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, homeopathics, herbs, whole foods, floweressences, yoga, acupunture, reflexology, tuning forks, drumming and more. Deborah has studied and practiced these forms of energy medicine and is currently a student of Deborah King Ms. Wood practices energy work to create a junction where consciousness has an effect between mind and matter. It is a pure intention to facilitate the clients well being into a state of balance. Empowering him/her to reclaim his/her own wellness. Love is the universal energy that allows healing to flow from one person to another. All that said energy work is just plain relaxing and stress reducing. Stress is a major conductor of disease.
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is the most widely used and the basis of traditional relaxation massage, it has many benefits. A good swedish massage reduces overall stress in the body which relieves pain by increasing circulation, relaxing muscles and allowing blood flow to increase. Metabolic waste is released from the muscle that was tense with contraction. Swedish Massage moves fluid and stretches fascia. Practitioners incorporate other modalities such as deep tissue, myofascial release, craniosacral and energy work into their Swedish massage. Massage is fabulous as a preventitive health practice as well as treating pain, stiffness and stress. Massage also lowers blood pressure, strengthens the immune system, relieves the effects of trauma, improves digestion and puts one in a better over all state of mind.
Cupping
Cupping is a traditional Chinese medicine technique using specially designed suction cups that brings the tissues up drawing out toxins and releasing stuck fascia and muscle fibers. Used mainly by Deborah for stubborn, chronically congested areas.
Reflexology
Reflexology is another TCM treatment administered to the feet with the understanding of specific points on the feet relating to organs in the body.
Music
Music. Deborah feels that the music played during the session is very important. She takes care in selecting music as it effects her as well as the client. There a some instances when Deborah drums over her client during part of the session as a way of drawing attention to areas of congestion and helping to Love is the universal energy that allows healing to flow from one person to another.
Craniosacral
Craniosacral work is a gentle approach, it honors both analytic and intuitive understanding of how things happen and how things are.
Techniques are drawn from osteopathy and energy work.
It works on the person as a whole- spirt, mind and body. It is very subtle and deeply healing.
The skull is composed of 22 bones
8 in the cranium and 14 in the facial region. 7 of the 8 are directly accesible. Within the medical community it was believed that the cranial bones did not move since they are woven togther in tightly fitting sutures to protect the brain. William Sutherland in the 1920's through much research proved otherwise. Dr. John Upledger helped bring it even more mainsteam in the 70's. There is an infinitesimal yet palpable rhythm of the cranial bones. CS work traditionally specializes in the head, spine and sacrum, but is not limited to those areas, nor is it limited to the physical.
A CS practitioner can sense the cranial wave and 'feel' or see with the 'inner eye'
here to make light finger pressure to help the specific cranial bone(s) adjust, and free restrictions to the spinal fluid.
Those who benefit from craniosacral therapy are children and babies who had birthing trauma and when forcepts were used
whiplash sufferers, and other forms of physical trauma. TMJ can be treated with CS with good results. It is effective for a wide range of physiological conditions associated with pain and dysfunction and used as a preventitive health practice because of its ability to improve function of the nervous system. It is also extremely relaxing.
It is non invasive as clients are fully clothed and face up when recieving, making it good for those who are uncomfortable disrobing for a treatment.
The practitioner may slide her hand under the bottom sheet to access the sacrum. The touch is very light. Combined with Reiki a one hour treatment can take you to a state of pure bliss and relive your symptoms.
Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words
Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you.
Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.
These are 5 ideals that Reiki practioners are to daily live by
Just for today; Be Grateful; Do not worry, Do not anger; Put in an honest days work; Be kind.
Deborah's passion is to help her clients physically shed muscle/tissue tension and pain, as well as help balance and cleanse the human energy field—specifically the chakras and aura—being mindful of meridians, accupoints, and bio-rhythms. A normal session consists of a combination of firm Swedish massage, Energy Balancing and cranio-sacral. She is also able to provide deep tissue, cupping, and trigger-point therapy upon request. Deborah believes that by using the combination of these modalities she is empowering her clients with the ability to reclaim their own wellness—body, mind and spirit.
