Stones are used in all massage sessions. The types of massage and bodywork described below may also be integrated into a session based on individual needs, so clients do not have to choose a type of massage when making an appointment.
Solace Stones
refer to marble, agates, quartz, jade and basalt stones that are used in every massage session. Although hot stone massages are popular today, heat therapy is not always beneficial. For example, heat will only aggravate inflammation. For these reasons, stone temperatures from all four seasons are often used. This type of massage has circulatory, lymphatic, energetic and deep tissue benefits.
Neuromuscular Massage
techniques (also called "deep tissue" and "medical massage") are sometimes used to address multiple layers of muscles, tendons and other types of tissue to alleviate chronically painful conditions due to a structural misalignment, medical condition or injury. For athletes, these techniques can help reduce recovery time, improve flexibility and support peak performance during training.
Swedish Massage
strokes are often blended into sessions because they are gentle and relaxing. These massage techniques are highly effective for warming soft tissue before deep tissue work and for relieving tension due to stress.
Joint Mobility
refers to passive and assisted stretches. Mobilizing joints during a massage helps to lubricate them by stimulating the movement of the fluids in and around joints. Mobilization also facilitates healing and improves or maintains range of motion. Areas that usually benefit most are the shoulders and neck, knees, ankles and hips, wrists, and upper and lower back.
Acupressure
based on Zen Shiatsu, is sometimes used to calm or stimulate energy ("chi") as it moves through the body. Acupressure is highly relaxing and many people say it helps to relieve their head and stomach aches, anxiety, arthritic and muscular pain as well as improve their circulation and sleep patterns.
Stone Symbols
are layouts that intuitively develop from the stones used during sessions. They naturally occur as the stones are removed from the client and are placed on another sheet. By the client's request prior to the session, the stone symbol is a free supplement to any massage session at Solace. (The symbol in this photograph was given to Erin Hartman by one of her mentors several years ago. It depicts a medicine wheel, her central connection to Creator, and the loving community that supports and benefits from her healing arts practice today.)

[Erin] was kind enough to work me in last minute & did an amazing job! Such a warm atmosphere...will definitely return.
Laura S. (Yelp)
I enjoyed every minute of my 90-minute massage and found the whole experience to be excellent. [Erin] is particularly skilled at helping people who work at the computer for long hours. Amazing hand massages! I even left headache free after having a headache all morning.
Mariza D. (Yelp)
I loved [Erin's] special abilities with the stones and her intuitive skills to know exactly the spots to give special attention to. I specifically went there for extreme stress relief as I was going through a lot and left completely at peace and present.
Reflexology
There are hundreds of evidence-based research articles about the health benefits of reflexology. For in-depth case studies and information about a specific condition, please see these resources by the Reflexology Association of America.
During a Facial Reflexology Session,
a light, unscented cream is applied to the face, and gentle but firm strokes are used to determine underlying imbalances that could be contributing to health problems. Using this assessment, an individualized session is designed to promote healing for a variety of conditions such as allergies, asthma, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, arthritis, depression, migraines and insomnia. Facial reflexology is safe for children and adults. Some experience immediate improvements after their first visit, but changes are often noticeable for most clients after six to eight consecutive sessions.
Integrative Reflexology
sessions make use of gentle pressure points and massage zones for feet, hands and ears to stimulate the body's innate healing responses and promote balance. This approach is so gentle, even babies and young children can benefit from these sessions to address conditions ranging from colic, constipation, ADD and sinus congestion.
Individuals with Chronic Or Terminal Illnesses
also find that foot and hand reflexology reduces their anxiety, helps with breathing, and supports organ functions, especially the kidneys. With a doctor's written approval, Erin will gladly arrange to bring her reflexology sessions to individuals who are currently hospitalized or undergoing hospice care.
Pregnant women are often told they cannot receive foot reflexology because it will induce early labor,
but these areas can easily be avoided while still addressing points and zones that will support a healthy pregnancy. Both facial and integrative reflexology are safe for pregnant women and help to address common pregnancy complaints such as hip and back discomfort as well as indigestion.

The facial reflexology sessions I receive at Solace help me breathe and sleep better.
Cliff M.
Due to adrenal fatigue, I found it increasingly more difficult to function and be productive. For several months I was virtually bedridden. I am now on my feet again, and credit the facial reflexology with Erin for giving my body the energy and balance it needed.
