Black Frog Nitro Stout
Brewed in the spirit of classic Irish Stouts, our Snoqualmie Falls Irish Oatmeal Stout, known as Black Frog Stout, has many of the same ingredients, including un-malted roasted barley to give it that semi-acidic roasted tang. To be different, we then use chocolate malt to produce an espresso character and finally use the unique ingredient of rolled oats rather than flaked barley. When used in the mash the rolled oats produce a silky smooth mouth feel which, when combined with the special nitrogen pouring technique, gives this great stout its smooth texture. If you've never had a beer poured on nitro, give it a try! It comes off the tap looking like it is all foam, but the fine, fine nitro bubbles soon begin to yield waves of beer falling from the top to the bottom in a completely hypnotic fashion. You can see them in the picture above. 1.056 O.G. / 4.8% ABV / 28 IBU Black Frog Stout is available in 50 liter (13.2 gallon) and 7.75 gallon kegs, but even if you bring in a container or try to fill a keg, we won't be willing to sell it to you! Beers poured on nitro need a special dispensing system, so the Taproom or an alehouse is pretty much the only places you'll be able to get it. What do you drink Snoqualmie's Black Frog Stout with? Well, since your serving locations are limited, we suggest a bowl of our great Gumbo or a Pita and Hummus Platter! How did Black Frog Stout get its name? Well way back in 1997 when we were just getting up and running, we launched a limited stock offering which was unsuccessful. Our first investor was a retired guy who went by the name Black Frog, and we told him that if he invested in the brewery we'd name a beer after him. Well, he still has his money, but his name lives on!
Nitro Copperhead Pale Ale
It's what you get when you take our popular Copperhead Pale Ale, infuse it with nitrogen and serve it through a Guinness-type faucet. Our Nitro Pale Ale doesn't just provide an entertaining display as the bubbles cascade down the glass, but also creates a golden colored pint of wonderfully smooth, creamy ale with a tangy sweetness in the finish. 1.058 O.G. / 5.3% ABV / 32 IBU. A classic Northwest, cloudy, wheat beer crafted from 60 percent malted wheat and Two-Row Pale and Vienna barley malts, German Spalt hops and our northwest ale yeast. Haystack Hefeweizen has a spicy-citrusy aroma that carries over to a clean, mellow flavor with spice, citrus, and yeast overtones. 1.052 O.G. / 5.3% ABV / 18 IBU. Haystack is available in 50 liter (13.2 gallon) and 7.75 gallon kegs, but if you buy or bring in a growler, cornie or any other container, we'll be happy to fill it for you! Haystack Hefeweizen is great all by itself, especially with a lemon wedge in the rim of the glass. Food pairings include lighter meats such as prosciutto, grilled chicken and pork loin. It is also excellent paired with desserts such as apple tarts and banana bread. Where does Haystack get it's name? Well, just east of Snoqualmie is Mt. Si, and you can climb to the top, but is isn't an easy hike: In about 4 miles there is a 3,100 foot elevation gain! Once you get to the top, and you think you've summited, there is a little icing on the cake: The Haystack is the true summit of Mt. Si, and it calls to you, beckons you, taunts you! Do you have the energy for that final push? Either way, you know once you have rubber kneed it back to the car you'll need to drive to the Taproom for a glass of Haystack.
Perfectly Great Amber (PGA)
PGA (Perfectly Great Amber) is a marvelous, low alcohol "session" beer that's easy to drink with medium body and just a touch of sweetness for perfect balance. PGA is great for the 19th hole (or any hole in between) or even when you're just dreaming of those perfect days on the fairway. 1.048 O.G. / 4.2% ABV / 25 IBU. PGA is available in 50 liter (13.2 gallon) and 7.75 gallon kegs, but if you buy or bring in a growler, cornie or any other container, we'll be happy to fill it for you! Because we named it strategically, it is a favorite at many golf clubs and even outsells some of those huge national pale industrial swills! Look for PGA at Aldarra Golf Club, Mt. Si Golf Course, and many other fine golf links. And remember, if you don't see it, you can ask your favorite golf course or watering hole to carry it! PGA pairs wonderfully with rich, aromatic, spicy and smoked foods such as chili, BBQ ribs, grilled chicken, and beef.
Enjoy our Kolsch at CenturyLink field at any Sounders FC home game. We got the prime location for the beer. It's in the main beer garden in the north entrance. Brewed in the likeness of a style unique to Cologne, Germany, where dozens of breweries produce light ales with tremendous drinkability, our Kolsch is brewed with nothing more than Pale Malt, a bit of wheat, and Spalt hops. O.G 1.046 / A.B.V 5% / 24 IBU. Our Kolsch is available in 50 liter (13.2 gallon) and 7.75 gallon kegs, but if you buy or bring in a growler, cornie or any other container, we'll be happy to fill it for you! What to pair it with? Well even though the color and flavor are very light, the wheat grist adds some mouthfeel, so this beer is right at home with heartier dishes such as roast pork with herbed new potatoes or borscht. Where does our Kolsch get its name? Well, that takes a little while to answer, because our Kolsch has a mild case of multiple personality disorder. As mentioned above, Kolsch in general means a light beer from Cologne, Germany. If you take a cruise on the Schooner Zodiac such as the San Juan Islands Brewery Cruise, you'll see our Kolsch in bottles with a Schooner Zodiac Kolsch moniker. During soccer season, we also pour it as Eastside Supporters 405 Kolsch. We hope to have it pouring at Centurylink Field next season! Sometimes you can even find reference to is as Little Si Kolsch, named after the Little Si mountain just north of Mt. Si.
Steam Train Porter
Steam Train Porter is a lip-smacking dark ale that's mellow and malty. The aroma is reminiscent of bittersweet dark chocolate and espresso. The caramel and roast malt flavors are exceptionally smooth. It is medium bodied with a slightly sweet edge, but has a dry finish making Steam Train Porter easy to drink and very easy to love. 1.056 O.G. / 5.0% ABV / 28 IBU. Steam Train Porter is available in 22 oz. bottles, 50 liter (13.2 gallon) and 7.75 gallon kegs, but if you buy or bring in a growler, cornie or any other container, we'll be happy to fill it for you! Steam Train Porter is named for the historic trains that line Snoqualmie's Main Street, Railroad Avenue. Just a short block from the Taproom, the Northwest Railway Museum boasts a huge collection of heritage rail cars and engines.
Copperhead American Pale Ale
Our Copperhead Pale Ale first grabs your attention with the brilliant aroma of Washington Cascade hops, quickly followed by a toasty malt flavor produced from generous additions of imported light crystal malt, and finally gives way to a clean, bright hop flavor. Deep gold in color, medium bodied and exceptionally clean, this American-style pale has become a northwest favorite. 1.058 O.G. / 5.3% ABV / 32 IBU. The balanced Hop Monster! Wildcat, an India Pale Ale, has helped define our Northwest style: big, bold hop flavors from 100 percent Yakima-grown Columbus hops and enough malt backbone to stand up to them. It is an uncharacteristically balanced IPA for the Northwest, where hoppiness often leaves the malt profile in the dust. We use premium Pale, Munich, Cara-Pils and Crystal malts, as well as top-fermenting ale yeast to create the perfect hop delivery system. 1.062 O.G. / 6.6% ABV / 75 IBU. Wildcat IPA is available in 22 oz. bottles, 50 liter (13.2 gallon) and 7.75 gallon kegs, but if you buy or bring in a growler, cornie or any other container, we'll be happy to fill it for you! Wildcat complements intensely flavorful, highly spiced dishes, such as tom yum soup, and bold, sweet desserts like flourless chocolate cake and crème brulée. Wildcat IPA is named for the local high school football team, the Mt. Si Wildcats! Snoqualmie Falls Brewing owners Pat Anderson, LeRoy Gmazel and Tom Antone all grew up here in the Valley, and of course hold a deep affinity for their alma mater.
We get incredible reviews on our Root Beer. That's because we make it with REAL vanilla extract (not artificial vanillin), REAL cane sugar (no High Fructose Corn Syrup), and LOTS of honey. Rich and zingy, this one is a real delight for the kids and designated drivers! Plus, no caffeine! Our Root Beer is available in 50 liter (13.2 gallon) kegs, but if you buy or bring in a growler, cornie or any other container, we'll be happy to fill it for you! Word up- the intense aromatics of our Root Beer will permanently affect any plastic or rubber parts it comes into contact with and will give any other beverage a bit of a root beer aroma. So, if you are thinking about having us fill a cornie with it, you should consider designating this a root beer-only cornie. Of course, you don't have to drive all the way here for a growler fill. Spring Fever Belgian Style Ale
How'd we change it this year compared to last year? Well, Rande pulled back on the malt a bit so this year it has gone to 6% ABV. Now, to hear him tell it, the flavor profile is largely unchanged except for less malt allowing the coriander to come forward. However, my own palate says this one is drier, crisper and more refreshing than in years past, and the coriander is not more present. In either case, orange hues, rich malt flavors, spicy coriander overtones and fruity, tropical aromas make this one beautiful beer for fans of Belgian styles. Spring Fever is crafted from the finest Two-Row, Munich, Carastan and Belgian Aromatic malts, Columbus and Czech Saaz hops, spiced with coriander and fermented with authentic Belgian ale yeast. Available February April . 1.065 O.G. / 6.0% ABV / 32 IBU. Spring Fever is available in 22 oz. bottles, 50 liter (13.2 gallon) and 7.75 gallon kegs, but if you buy or bring in a growler, cornie or any other container, we'll be happy to fill it for you! Spring Fever is delicious when paired with seafood or sweets. We suggest honey walnut prawns, sole meuniere, or a single chocolate truffle. Ah, Springwhen a young man's fancy turns to love! When gardeners hazard the 45 degree days to watch the crocus pop up. When everyone has just about had it with the cold, the dark, the rain, and we're all just praying for a few nice days to get out of the house. A time of hope and rebirth. Spring Fever was named for this hopefulness, and brewed to help bring about the lighter feelings of lengthening days!
This beer is crisp, clean, refreshing, and hoppy. Summer Beer is a pre-Prohibition Pilsner fermented with our ale yeast to impart more character to the beer compared to lager yeast. A small amount of flaked maize and lots of Czech Saaz hops give this beer a spicy herbal aroma and a dry finish. Great with meals or by itself during our warm summer months. Available May August Now, you know we tweak our seasonal beers every year so you might be asking what we did to Summer Beer this year. Well, our brewers Rande and Kevin put their heads together and decided that it just might work if they upped the flavoring and aromatic hops by 20%. A pilot batch was run and they figured they'd clinched it. You'll have to be your own judge, but the substantial increase in the Saaz hops brings forth this spiffy herbal spiciness. Rande proclaims this to be "The best Summer Beer yet"! 1.056 O.G. / 5.6% ABV / 32 IBU. Summer Beer goes wonderfully with the aroma of a freshly mowed lawn, roasted salted-in-shell peanuts, grilled pork chops with homemade apple sauce on the back porch, and sitting on the edge of the river with your feet dangling in the water at Three Forks Park in August! Remember, sometimes carpe diem just means enjoying our short but beautiful summers!
Harvest Moon Festbier
Medium-bodied with mellow malt aromas and a lovely reddish-orange hue. Brewmaster Rande Reed has created Harvest Moon, a German-style Festbier, to ease the way from lazy summer days into the more bracing days of autumn. Highly kilned Munich malt, German Spalt hops, and our house ale yeast yield unrivaled smoothness and flavors not found in ordinary beers. Available September October. 1.056 O.G. / 5.3% ABV / 24 IBU. Harvest Moon is available in 22 oz bottles, 50 liter (13.2 gallon) and 7.75 gallon kegs, but if you buy or bring in a growler, cornie or any other container, we'll be happy to fill it for you! Try Harvest Moon with Black Forest ham, roast loin of pork, veal saltimbocca or of course bratwurst or weisswurst with caramelized onions. Harvest Moon is named for the famed orange moons you can sometimes see around harvest time. The activities of harvest and burning off the grain stubble used to make a lot of smoke, and that turned the moonlight orange. But also, the Snoqualmie Valley is known as the Valley of the Moon from the Snoqualmie Tribe legend of their creation- Snoqualmie Story of the Moon, and there is even a neighborhood just north of Mt. Si named Moon Valley.
Avalanche Winter Ale
This northwest styled winter ale is designed to take the chill off of the stormy northwest winter weather. Avalanche Winter Ale is deep ruby red when held to the light, and full bodied complex malt flavors dominate with perfect balance provided by distinctive Yakima Chinook and Cascade hops. It's big, rich, smooth and satisfying, yet drinkable enough to enjoy more than one. This winter ale is destined to become Northwest classic. Avalanche is available November January. Every year we tweak the recipe of each of our Seasonal ales. This year, Rande upped the aromatic hops by a quarter, yielding a much more pronounced hoppy beginning to the flavor of the beer. Even so, by the time the flavor has moved to the back of the palate, the hops have given way to the complex malt flavors of the finish. 1.068 O.G. / 6.8% ABV / 48 IBU. Avalanche Winter Ale is available in 50 liter (13.2 gallon) and 7.75 gallon kegs, but if you buy or bring in a growler, cornie or any other container, we'll be happy to fill it for you! What kinds of food does Avalanche pair well with? Try rich chocolate desserts, roast beef or coq au vin! Avalanche is named for the frequent snow slides we get up at Snoqualmie Pass. Every out-of-bounds skier or snowboarder's nightmare, did you know that these are controlled by big guns on the side of I90? Yes, really! The DOT fires up into the danger zone to instigate a slide.
Just For Fun
Every year we brew 3 Special Releases that run for 4 months each. Most are high gravity, stronger beers. If they sell well, we bring them back the next year, but as soon as demand drops off, we pull the plug, retire the flavor, and think up a new one.
